39. Re: Yay Vista Apr 16, 2008, 16:33 tbrownren

You are missing the obvious, genius, which is that 2GB of RAM under XP is in effect significantly more than 2GB of RAM under Vista due to the very fact that Vista uses more RAM than XP. That is why a 1GB XP PC will run the game and Vista requires 2GB minimum. It also follows or at least strongly suggests that a 2GB XP PC will run the game better than a 2GB Vista PC because more RAM will be available to the game under XP.

And you obviously don't understand how memory management works in Windows Vista. Continue raging against the machine though, and enjoy running an operating system designed in 2001 on your super elite gaming machine. I'm still running Windows 98, because XP is such a CPU/RAM hog.

I love how they took the time to rag on Renegade when their game doesn't look all that great to begin with. Also it sounds like they aren't going to take Renegade's awesome multiplayer mode which is bullshit. All they needed to do was flesh it out and write decent netcode.

Well It was the last game they developed under the Westwood brand so I think my fears of it being made by EA are still founded.

An underrated game that's getting its sequel. Too bad EA is developing it.

25. Re: Blablablablablablabla Aug 22, 2007, 18:41 tbrownren

Don't listen to their PR bullshit, if you want the proper FOV use this tool:

http://dl.tocaedit.com/bioshockdFOV.zip

16:9 = 0.75 sliders. Effective FOV = 100 degrees
16:10 = 0.833 sliders. Effective FOV = 90 degrees
5:4 = 1.066 sliders. Effective FOV = 70.4 degrees
4:3 = 1.0 sliders. Effective FOV = 75 degrees

If the top developer based FOV makes you feel sick then use the following settings:

16:9 = 0.625 sliders. Effective FOV 120 degrees
16:10 = 0.694 sliders. Effective FOV 108 degrees
5:4 = 0.888 sliders. Effective FOV 84.375 degrees
4:3 = 0.833 sliders. Effective FOV 90 degrees

Every game that has come out in the past few years has a patch 1 day later. This is not exclusive to EA.

News Comments > New NVIDIA ForceWare Vista Drivers
17. Re: No subject Jan 30, 2007, 22:23 tbrownren

Out of curiosity, how are games performing in Vista for you? I've seen mixed results, though most benchmarks (that I've seen, anyway) tend to show Vista as having a performance penalty (severe in a handful of cases). Have you noticed a similar trend or does it seem on par with XP?

You guys rely way too heavily on bechmarks. Vista runs much snappier for me than XP on the same hardware. (E6600 Core 2 Duo, 7900GT, 2GB DDR2). It makes sense because it actually takes advantage of my memory unlike XP. Game performance is not as good as XP but what do you expect with such shitty drivers? Once Nvidia and ATI get a real driver out then game performance will be on par if not better than XP.

Which hardware would that be? And do you have some benchmarks to back that up? The XP vs Vista article I read says otherwise when it comes to games and decent hardware.

Why don't you actually try a clean install of Vista for yourself instead of blindly following benchmarks? Like I said before the only reason why game performance is not as good is because of the drivers. It's not Microsoft's fault that Nvidia and ATI fucked around for months and still have not produced a complete Vista driver. Everybody has this negative feeling about Vista thanks to a few choice websites on the internet. Is Vista worth the 5 year wait? Of course not.. but when you consider they basically started over 2.5 years ago I'd say the final product is worth it. Buy OEM and the most you'll spend is 200 dollars for the Ultimate Edition.

for a bloated OS that has shitty performance. Seems like a good match.

Or an operating system that runs better than XP on my hardware? But how dare it use some of that expensive RAM I bought?!

Nvidia had months to make a proper driver and here we are still waiting.

So the driver they have been promising for weeks is the same shitty one we had days ago. Way to go Nvidia!

Or that could be the worst game ever.

"Hey yeah let's combine the horrible battlefield engine with The Lord of the Rings! Not only does the LOTR setting not work for that type of game, but we can run it all in a bloated and buggy engine. We'll make billions."

Oh shut up, if you hate the humour then why even come here? You know what is going to happen.

I bet you'd go to a Robin William's film and shout out in the cinema 'Oh God, here comes the clown comedy train, parp, parp'.

Haha I struck a nerve with you. My whole point was that this was clearly a false news article but for some reason they decided to post it anyway.

Your Robin Williams analogy was also terrible.

What's the point of posting this article? Is it just so we can have 100 witty puns about why this game will never come out? This article has already been debunked on the official forums anyway.
