I'll be buying Skyrim for sure once I know that modders finished the game for Bethesda. Yep I'm in the same boat! Despite the issues with Beth's games, modding up Oblivion, Morrowind and Fallout have resulted in many hours of enjoyment.
Also: waiting for a while before getting Skyrim gives me a chance to upgrade my laptop |

I rather enjoyed Risen back when I played it - I usually don't have the stamina for such games but this one kept me on.
The ending was a huge let-down, however. |

I really enjoyed Stalker with that massive realism mod.
I would further advocate more storyline elements where your actions change the game-world (Oblivion has this).
Edit: Just watched that video. ID Software re-makes Fallout. My goodness!

Next up, arse wiping!
One of the joys of Oblivion is "modding it up" - kinda like taking a stock car that's been built for safety and then doing a "fully sick custom job" on it
I look forward to modders doing the same for Skyrim. I also look forward to buying it years later on sale (like I did for Oblivion recently) so my laptop can run it without melting. |

Considering this is the first I've heard of this 'all too common' bug, it can't be all that common if I've got pushing 180 hours in it. Likewise - never had a crash in the game, many hours of playtime spent already (with mods and dlc too). |

I'm a fan because they published Penumbra series by FrictionalGames |

But yeh, not a fan of Steam's online requirements - I prefer a model like Impulse etc.

Whoa, steady on there Space Captain. People are allowed to express their opinions (I think they call that a "forum").
And yes, the premise of the game is mining and crafting, everything else is negotiable?
Though, if I read the dictionary definition of premise (state by way of introduction), describing Minecraft as a "sandbox world of endless exploration and creation" fits quite nicely. So yeh, pull your head in
(Note: I'd love more story to give more tangible meaning to the survival mode) |

I was repeatedly banned from my regular TF2 server for "hacking". Sounds like you're a big fish in a small pond. Find a server with a higher quality of opponent.
In a way you are griefing by playing on a noob server. You're also not growing your own skillset and I'd make an assumption that you'd get your ass handed to you at higher levels of play.
That assumption was based on my own experiences with CS beta. I used to think I was the bomb, playing on my ISP's server headshots all round, then I tried competetive play and it was a whole new world. |

Main thing I like about Impulse - once you've installed a game, you don't need Impulse running to play itthe game. I like.
I have no issue with how I have Impulse setup, it's nice and minimalist.
Main issue is the game selection isn't as great as other channels. I have it installed because of GalCiv2 and Sins.
I usually get better deals on Steam. |
