| Don't be surprised when the original language, or a version thereof which grants EA the same ability to resell your information, returns in the future. |

| Seems like Notch went for the free publicity play by getting into it with Bethesda. He'll be able to milk it further by "giving in" and changing the name of his game so as to further garner sympathy from the gaming press and public. |

| The continued use of uber-draconian DRM that is only pulled after sufficient public outcry has just plain got to stop. It has absolutely no effect on piracy and a chilling effect on sales of not only the gane currently released, but every game that follows coming from the same publisher. If Ubi isn't careful, they may find themselves as just another Interplay... |

| Every time some organization cries out for a ban on something that something ends up being more popular. This will end up driving more than a few sales of Darkness II because people will want to see what the fuss is all about. The fact that police are asking for the ban will undoubtedly increase this effect, especially among young men who already have a dim view of police. |

Deathbishop wrote on Aug 10, 2011, 12:47: Steam does the exact same thing (always on connection) and millions of people don't have an issue with it. I bet 90% don't even know such a thing like 'use game offline' exists within steam.
This is the way technology is going. Streaming movies/netflix proves this. I guess blizzard should of put 3 little letters under diablo 3 (MMO) for everyone here to be cool with it.
I get that this site is a haven for people to bitch about anything but I'm not seeing the argument with this one, sorry. I'll bet far fewer than 90% know that they can play Steam games offline after they've been activated. Your streaming example is the orange to the always-connected-even-though-not-necessary-to-play-the-game apple in your comparison.
Technology isn't going this way, game publishers are. The requirement of an online connection makes sense for features that require online connectivity. Requiring the same for games that have no such features, such as most single-player games, is just a lousy idea.
Oh, and ZeniMax Media (Bethesda's parent company) owns id, not Blizzard. |

| Clearly the London Evening Standard is not owned by one of Rupert Murdoch's companies, as none of his companies retract anything no matter how wrong it is. |

Another paper struggling for attention goes the anti-gaming sensationalist route with a completely bogus premise. What a shocker...
Another study blaming a currently-popular pastime for teens acting like teens. Walk through any high school and you'll see the same things being played out. |

| It's rational and thoughtful things like this that will keep John Carmack from ever being asked to talk about violence in video games on any cable news channel, particularly one owned by News Corp. |

Dirwulf wrote on Jul 27, 2011, 11:41: That should be a quote of the day:
"We're building the strength of our most important IP. And for EA, this means about a dozen very substantial IPs,” he added. “Each of these will be transformed into year-round businesses with major packaged goods launches, social launches, mobile launches, downloadable content and micro-transactions." They're still losing money every quarter and their answer is to churn out even more of the same shit no one buys now? Good luck with that strategy |
