Physical video? As in hardware for PCs?

As in game in a box on a physical disc.

The second range of dollar amounts sounds like something an intern pulled out of his ass.

Not holding my breath, but I'd love to see all of them rereleased.

While free is great, this would also be a great time for EA to test the waters of GOG and see what sales of other classic games might be. HINT HINT...
I seriously doubt EA will let anything go for free, but the GOG idea is right up their alley. Why? Because they can charge people money for something that costs EA next to nothing.

EA needs cash and they clearly aren't making money selling their own games, so they might as well cash in their stake in a company that is making money selling games.

As for Ubi's DRM, wait until your internet connection is gone and then try to play Assassin's Creed 2.

I'd sacrifice Roger Ebert for a video game.

Is that because it will take 10 years to sell the ones already in stores now?

All game reviews are nothing more than the opinions of their authors. Those opinions may be colored by a game publisher's expectations, ad money and other incentives or they may not. If you're going to base a game buying decision on what you read in a review, you'd be best served by reading every review you can to see a more complete picture of the game in question.

Another info gathering option is to wait for a couple of weeks after a game is released and then check out the game's official forums for complaints, specifically in the tech support section. Be sure to not only read the complaints, but the responses, suggestions and solutions as well. This will help weed out whining of those who have 'acquired' the game by other than monetary means from legitimate purchasers of the game.

Adobe ought to consider using some of the many tools available for finding things like buffer overruns and memory leaks before releasing their products to an unsuspecting public.

ME1 was an RPG. ME2 is a shooter with leveling. ME3 might as well dispense with the few remaining RPG elements entirely and finish the transition to shooter. Hell, they'll probably try to fix the lame-ass mining mini game in ME3, too, instead of putting it out of its (and our) misery.

What isn't mentioned in the article is Metacritic's weighting system. This gives more say to the reviews/sites that Metacritic believes are more important than others.

This movie-goer is sick of pointless 3D a la the Clash of the Titans remake. Avatar, on the other hand, was a fantastic 3D experience.

Games are getting shorter, but not cheaper.

Western RPGs are doing quite well, thank you very much, as Fallout 3, Oblivion, Mass Effect 1 & 2, and Dragon Age can attest.
