In a ressesion, the defict will go up. There is less money for the government to collect. Add to that the "Bush Tax Cuts" and there is even less money. Obama could have gotten rid of the Tax Cut and lowered the deficit, but he chose (the more wise path IMO) to keep it in place (for now). Spending under Obama is actually pretty similar to Bush. There is just less money being collected...

Destruction Derby, Lemmings, and Shadow of the Beast were so awesome back in the day.

Also, Psygnosis had one of the coolest logos in the biz. As soon as I read the name, that logo popped into my brain even though I hadn't thought about them for 20 years.

BLOOD MONEY!

diablo 2 was playable all the way through in a single session from version 1.0. Diablo 3 is not.

There is no possible way to play through the game without farming or AH. None.

Their games are running because they are free to play

Makes no sense. They are still running because they are making money (reguarless if they are free to play...)

As for Diablo 3, would've loved to buy it, if not for their stupid "Yeah, if your internet is down, go play something else" horseshit.

My internet has been down for a total of about an hour in the last 5 years. This is a just a whiney bitch point that isn't a realistic concern.

Hard8 is a cool game. Kind of like Drop7 on overload.

Just stick to the free stuff. If it's anything like the PC the best stuff will always be free and made by some basement dwelling geek

That's a pretty good business model for developers.

I assume you were joking as no one is that stupid...

As someone who makes games for kids for iOS devices I can say business is booming. One of our games Prize Machine (check it out if you wish - http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/prize-machine/id377663033?mt=8) has had over 125,000 downloads in the past few months. I don't of any other delivery vehicle where 2 guys in a garage could get that kind of exposure with a $0 marketing budget.

I feel bad for the guys at Junction Point, I knew many of them and have worked with most of the core guys, but the world is changing. Big box games are going to be rarer and rarer.

Wasnt there a story last year how rock ban was the first billion dollar selling game?

Ah yes, here it is....

something is seriously wrong with someone's accounting if Viacom is taking a loss on this...

As a game dev, there is no way I would want every interview to be 'live'. It is way too easy to make mistakes or say the wrong thing.

The launch has been very solid. I have seen no problems at all. The game on the other hand is quite underwhelming.

Actually there are lots of different types of games now, Modern Combat, just released by Gameloft for example is probably the best handheld FPS out there.
