Rossafur wrote on Jan 7, 2012, 18:34: There's no way that would possibly happen, as every romance line is denoted with [flirt]. I have no problem with the game allowing any sort of romance option so long as it's always just an OPTION, ie: the way it already is -denoted with [flirt] in the dialogue choices. I play the game for the great story-lines and story choices, without that it's just like any other mmo. If they are NEVER going to allow that companion as a same-sex romance option, then it would be easy to go back to playing my character. But if I keep playing, get to 50, and then they patch it in at some point down the line, then that whole storyline has been missed out on. Thing is this is an MMO and you've already said your not a e-peener dps whore so I guess your playing for the social and storyline aspects - NOT the hardcore endgame PvE raids (when they come).
They know damn well people who aren't that interested in endgame will play more than one storyline, as a minimum most Lore players will play at least one storyline on Empire and Republic - and if they can get you to play it through twice more in 6 months time with the offer of same sex relationships then they'll damn well implement them.
I can't think of another MMO where you actual have a social rank depening on how often you team with other people. They've spotted a new demographic and are going after it. |

Not sure if this is a nice touch or a decline in subscriber numbers. It's not something any kind of decent raiding guild will welcome.
If anything it's going to make things more elitest as any idiot will be able to get into a PUG raid but they'll be even worse run with less chance of success. Meanwhile the elite guilds will have to try even harder to find decent new blood as people pick up achievements by getting lucky because a friend of a friend of a friend knew a guild who had a slot one week. |

Rossafur wrote on Jan 7, 2012, 18:34: Support for why I play this (and most other MMO's) like an SP game. Power-gaming DPS stat e-peen flexers drive me nuts.
Anyway, I just got Jaesa Willsaam as a companion for my Sith Marauder only to find out they didn't implement same-sex relations for her or *any* of the companions. Supposedly will be a "post-launch" addition, but who knows when that will be (if ever) or if it will even be retro-active for existing companions or only new ones. And yes, I'm pathetic enough that this could be a deal-breaker on continuing to play that character until it's implemented (if it's going to be implemented). I would have suffered through staring at a male character as my avatar if I knew this was the case. Curse them and curse me for not researching that it had been switched from a launch to a post-launch feature ahead of time! I bloody hope they don't retroactively make some of my companions gay and my previously innocent compliments mean I'm suddenly in a relationship with them - btw before you condemn me as being homophobic imagine if the changes suddenly mean your in a straight relationship.
Furthermore if having ANY kind of relationship with a VIRTUAL character means that much to you that you'd stop playing the game, I strongly suggest you put the mouse down and go to the nearest gay/straight/transgender/hermaphrodite bar. |

Agree.
And when Bethesda makes games bigger than some states in the Union, well, who really shives a goat about it being MMO?
Seriously, WoW aside, MMO's have about the lifetime of a swamp gnat.
^D^ I care! There isn't a proper post apocalyptic mmo out there worth playing. There's been attempts Neocron was good in it's day but didn't age well, Anarchy Online was always a reskinned Everquest clone and the sci-fi elements always felt tagged on - especially once the Shadowlands expansion came out, after that we're talking Fallen Earth, Global Agenda, Hellgate London etc etc
I would love a truly gritty AAA production post-apocalyptic MMO - hell I live in England. It would be nice if the online world made this place look nice. |

I saw somebody disappear from the game within 5 minutes of him starting to work around the profanity filter and throwing around racist rants in the general channel of Imperial Fleet.
I thought it was weird he'd gone suddenly quite because he started strong (not just f words, c words and anti-semitic comments) so tried to add him to ignore and the game said he didn't exist.
Impressive response time as it was about 3pm on a European server.

| UI wasn't that much of a problem for me - I just got bored of the repitition. I really love the game - but need a break from pickup quest, kill everything in dungeon, loot thing with big pointer on, hand in quest. |

| Checked this on Origin earlier today - not a chance at the price they are charging for the initial package. We all know it'll be <20 in 6 months time and the endgame content will only just start being worth a subscription. They should have focussed on a free client with monthly subscription - the high client cost indicates a near total lack of content. They don't expect people to subscribe for long. |

Dear Blizzard
We, the pc gamers, as a whole may be dumb enough to pay roughly £100m per month for World of Warcraft. But we all look at the phrase Battle.Net Balance and laugh derisively at you. Crap like this doesn't keep you as industry leaders - it makes us view you akin to dodgy politicians and insurance salesmen.
Sack you pr department and marketing focus group.

| Oh come on - it was kinda stupid fun for the few hours it took to complete it. Unfortunately as it took them more than one year to produce every hour of game I'd have to guess this DLC has a playtime of ~15mins so I won't be buying it. |

Actually why are we even talking about this - even at 30 hours that's 4 times the length of an average action game. Forget it's too long, and especially forget it's too short. It's a fair chunk of game which you can't go and rent on a console and take back the next day. |

I never understood why Raymond E Feist doesn't get more coverage - I know the books have been going very nearly 30 years and consist of 29 books but they are broken into normally 3 book sagas which would be perfect for a TV adaptation.
There were a couple of games a few years ago but like lotro and game of thrones these series don't actually lend themselves to games too well. Look at Skyrim - you make allowances for the plot the whole time (questions on dialouge tree which you have no idea where they came from ie "What's up with that orc?" what bloody orc I'm thinking). There's no real character interactions with other other people consistently - this is very much a single player quest with a few replaceable companions. Skyrim would make a lousy book as it stands, and any fantasy fiction saga would make a lousy game. |

I'm about half way through "American Gods" right now & I'm enjoying it. I've heard HBO is doing a series on that book too? Their really not that big - or good. I read the first one earlier in the year but left it with a strong suspicion that Martin didn't know exactly where his story was going. The plot felt more like a brainstorming session then a carefully laid out plan. Checking wiki that certainly seems to be the case with each subsequent book being further and further delayed while he tries to keep all the plot threads under control. |
