As I've said before... I've had very little interest in this since they changed it from a re-make to a re-imagination. If I ever do bother to download it... it will probably when they actually finish it... with Xen and all.

/shrug

Wow. Trying to be nice atm so all I can say is wow.

Torrent file - seems valid, setup has correct logos etc but use at your own risk:

http://www.mediafire.com/?khmzyygg4vetko0

That torrent is linked directly from the Black Mesa site, it's legit. Currently really slow though, need more peers!

Yeah for reason my chrome didn't like the new black mesa release page - so that torrent came from the comments section of a news page. Hence the prior warning.

Game seems good so far - except just hit the lower canals and they left the bloody crate jumping puzzle in. Always hated that.

EDIT: Greatest moment for me so far - CHUCKLE BROTHERS MUGS! To me!

Endgame for me in GW2 is perfect. Time to log off and play something else (like the stuff in the steam summer sale I haven't touched yet).

Get to level cap and tell me that wasn't worth the admission fee and I'll punch you in the face for lying.

I love the phrasing on that - I think at least half of the DPS guys I knew in FFXI would fail that test. So many dopes.

I think in terms of IQ it was support>tank>healer>>>>>>>>>>>DPS.

Oh that's just stupid. My wow main was a hunter which is where my heart lay but I also had a pally who both tanked and healed raids when necessary. The healer was ridiculously simple - almost whack-a-mole style, and VERY boring. Tanking again - a lot of raid fights bring in bosses which wipe aggro forcing the raid to use two tanks simply because the job is so damn easy.

For me DPS always offered the most flexibility and challenge - and being ranged helped with being able to view the situation (how many melee raid officers have you met - they are all ranged dps or healers).

Broekn quests/events I get but just logged cause my party couldn't get into sorrow's embrace. I got in once by fluke but the rest were stuck outside.

Broken dungeons are a bit disheartening but fuck it - game is a lot of fun.

Noticed the same thing in later levels, which made this:

Fixed a bug with the recipe for Ginger Pear Tarts that excluded Dough from the recipe.

Really make me laugh from the 8-9-12 patch notes

It's graphics are even uglier than the almost 8 years old World of Warcraft graphics

I don't have GW2 but I've watched friends play and this quote here is not even in the vicinity of being correct.

Ill have to agree with you here, Ive been playing the game for the past week, and the graphics in the game are absolutly awesome. WOW looking, SAME AS THE ORGINAL GW? I have no idea what this idiots been watching or seeing, but hes full of shit. Dont pay any attention to the troll.

Sod the graphics (which are top notch for an mmo) the art design is stunning at times. Some of the vistas you truly do look at and are just blown away by the detail which went into them.

BTW lvl 51 played 61 hours and completed 23% of the world map.

I don't know how to feel about amd/ati going out of business. They've pretty much always (apart from a few products) been the less stable, worse performing but crucially CHEAPER version of intel/nvidia.

I can't say I'd miss them - but intel/nvidia do need some form of competition.

1. Re: Sony Player Studio; EverQuest; & EverQuest II Expansions Announced Sep 6, 2012, 21:03 Lorcin

I sometimes miss EQ2 but never enough to go back there. Every time the announce an update I feel I should go have a look see but the idea of jumping into a game which has had 6 expansions since I last played is daunting.

The MMO world has moved on a lot since EQ launched but the problem is these are simply expansions - it's not like the combat or general quest style has changed in the interim.

I really liked the Xen sequence at the end of Half-Life (okay, the Super Mario/Gordon jumping was a tad annoying) because as awesome as Black Mesa was, one can only spend so much time in it before it becomes old hat. Xen was a perfect and much needed fresh angle, and suitably and deliciously foreign and alien. To me anyway - judging by the near universal dislike of the Xen levels it is clear I am in the distinct minority.

I think the issue wasn't that Xen was different and refreshing - that's a given. The fact it was introduced in the last 30-60 minutes and changed pretty much everything the player knew caused the problems.

It was like eating 7/8s of a meat feat pizza then having the 8th most satisfying slice suddenly replaced with with a deep fried dog turd topped with banana ice cream.

Even if they'd put the dog turd or banana ice cream onto the 8th slice of my comfortable, slightly predictable, pizza I'd probably have eaten it without a problem. But to throw away that last final pizza slice and replace it with a unlikable unknown just wasn't good.

I'm really happy about this too - couldn't give a crap about xen not being there as I selectively wipe that part from my memory anyway.

Black Mesa was one of those sites I'd check every 3 months or so just in case there was an update but I have to admit I was starting to get sceptical.

I'm hoping they're releasing it without xen to jog Valve into giving them input and finally correcting the final act which, lets face it, Valve fucked up royally the first time around. A bit like ME3's extended ending but hopefully actually fixing the problems.

As for the remake/re-imagining thing I'm also more then happy to give it a go. Bit's of HL didn't work - jumping from crate to crate over a deadly drop in first person springs to mind. They call it a remake and they can't change a thing - call it a re-imagining and they can subtly remove the sucky parts whilst staying 99% authentic to the original.

I totally understand what your saying, I totally reject your hypothesis but I'm drunk and can't be bothered. If you want to believe CoH will have some cultural significance in years to come then that's just great.

Enjoy your afterlife playing pong.

Seriously you think nothing made by a culture should be resigned to the dustbin? How about failed sitcoms? Are you saying the bloke who came 10 in big brother from 2003 should be preserved?

Ultima online, Everquest, Wow will become part of gaming history. Shity of Heroes will be a footnote at best.

Just because you left your keys in the car, doesn't mean that people aren't at fault for getting in and stealing your car. Yeah, it is a dumb move on your part, most insurance companies won't pay out for your policy and you might be held liable for what they do with that car, but it is still grand theft auto for the thief and they still go to jail if you press charges.

I'm sure whoever was responsible for the bug and the team that failed to catch it are catching their fair share of the flak internally at ANET for this.

A bit off topic but I did get back to my car the other day at a supermarket and realised I'd left the keys in the lock of the driver's door.

Like I always said - I don't need an alarm, the hyundai badge on the front stops anybody wanting to steal it.
