Reagan on $10? |

I can't say for certain that if Ronald Reagan were still alive he would balk at such silliness from the federal government.
But I do know if Alexander Hamilton were still alive, he'd challenge you to a duel for suggesting such a thing.

The expansions that let you get out of the house (Hot Date, Vacation, and... uh, the one with pets) are considerably more resource-intensive than the original. These ones add (marginally) to the scope of the game. Otherwise, the expansions just add more stuff (right off the bat), but it's still the same damn game that came out in, uh, February 2000.
I feel a good deal of guilt and shame over my (repeated!) purchases of Sims expansion packs. I keep hoping they'll bring back the magic of the first week of gameplay, but no, it still seems like some horrible God-awful tedious chore every time I decide to install it.

See, apparently what happened is the culprits were noticed, but they hid behind some crates for two minutes and so security just gave up looking for them and went about their business as though nothing had happened.

This reminds me of the fourth installment in the Metal Gear series, which was dubbed "Metal Gear Solid 2." Of course!
My understanding of the marketing logic behind not putting numbers on sequels is that it is believed to scare away newcomers to the franchise, who think they shouldn't buy it since they never played the previous titles. Or at least that's what it was back when Might & Magic started the trend. Mind you, Hollywood picked up on this strategy too.
Jordan Mechner was only a "creative consultant" on PoP:SoT. Still, I'm glad they brought him on. I was afraid that after the critically-acclaimed high-budget flop The Last Express, he had been relegated to the John Romero Hall of Unbankable Game Designers. Hope he's in on the new title, whatever the hell they end up calling it.

you fucking retards have no clue about economics - try graduating from high school before you try to figure out the industry
Is it just me or did the forums just get more stupid?
its just you SMA, I think you have all the evidence you need.
I think this is a general rule of all forums over time. I'm thinking of it as the "Where did all these idiots come from?" effect. cf. signal-to-noise ratio

Hitman 3 |

This press release worries me for some reason. Things that are coming to mind: Deus Ex 2 Tomb Raider 5 every Hollywood mega-turd
Very little is mentioned about what makes this game so much better than the hundreds of other games out there, although they do seem very knowlegable about their sales figures. As in, "We don't actually give a shit about if this game is any good, but us marketing guys are gonna find somebody to buy it." A little too eager to pat themselves on the backs for having a "blockbuster" advertising campaign. No mention of how proud they are of the artists behind the product.
I smell suckage...
Or maybe Hitman 3 turns out to be awesome like it deserves to be, and the marketing will put it in the ranks of Half-Life and Diablo. More power to 'em.

KitKat -- the conspiracy |
Feb 22, 2004, 19:46 |
Takashi[KiN] |
|
|
THEY don't want you to know, but the truth must be told -- The KitKat bar sold in the United States is of lower quality than the "real" KitKat! A Canadian-born friend of mine pointed this out to me once. I was incredulous of course, until he broke out a Canadian KitKat and offered samples. The chocolate is noticably better, tasting like good European chocolate. The wafer is a little crisper too, as opposed to the soggy thing in the US version.
It's just like how the US tobacco companies keep the good stuff for the American market and sell the cheap smokes in Asia, but as the same brand. THIS is Canada's secret plan to undermine the United States! They laugh all the way to the bank as uncritical American consumers scarf down overpriced confectionary KNOCK-OFFS!

Ghost Recon ad |

You see today's Ghost Recon ad?
The one that suggests the Vietnam memorial wall, then zooms in to show it's made of d00d nicknames?
Holy crap, that's tasteless. Tom Clancy can go fuck himself.

The IP for Unix having been scattered to the winds, the various fragment holders now turn on each other like starving cannibals.
I can just see someone in Redmond doing a dance of joy over this whole fiasco.

Ahh... still waiting for the day the last corporation on the globe aquires the second-to-last corporation on the globe, and then we can get all our consumer products from the Acme Corporation. Just like Wile E Coyote.
