That's because you don't need much RAM when all you're running is a barebones OS and a video game. PCs are doing a billion things behind the scenes while you're gaming, consoles are only doing one thing. Except yes you do, that's why consoles have to skimp on hi-res textures and other goodies, because they don't have enough RAM to make the game run at an acceptable FPS with them.
Yes, when the first XBox came out, graphically it exceeded PCs, for a brief while. However, PCs still were better overall. This last gen was just about equal with PCs for a brief period. I expect the next gen will be better than PCs for a brief spark of time. |

I wonder if this will increasingly be a problem in the future, with PC hardware rapidly outpacing the current generation of console hardware to the point where there is a noticable difference in the experience. I'm not sure that's something MS and Sony have put much thought into. Previous generations of consoles have always been in arm's reach of current PC hardware, but with MS and Sony looking to have 7-10 year hardware cycles I don't see how they can avoid it. WTF are you smoking? This is the only gen that was ever close to PC capabilities, and that was years ago. PCs outpace consoles so fast it's not a contest. |

Anyone buying this game at full price for the multiplayer is taking a big risk considering Crytek's very poor track record of support for the previous Crysis games. This news story adds to that concern. Far Cry - sucked multiplayer. Crysis - sucked multiplayer.
Who buys Crytek games for multiplayer? Supposedly it's quite good on consoles multiplayer, but the bar there is set by Halo, which most PC gamers deride, and MW2, which most PC gamers deride, so clearly standards are different.
I never expected good PC multiplayer from this. Far Cry had great multiplayer... IF you played on a LAN. Otherwise it was so ridiculously laggy it was unplayable. Crysis Wars could have been OK, but it ended up taking them so long to make it playable that other games came out and eclipsed it. I quite liked the demo of Crysis 2 multiplayer, but since the release version doesn't want to let you into servers... |

How Crytech really doomed the PC version:
Multiplayer servers are mostly broken. Finding one that will actually launch a game requires more luck than Slevin. |

Will I enjoy this game? Did they change it around enough to at least be like majesty or is it still dog shit in a box? It says The Sims in the title. That's enough to keep me away. (I might try it for $5.) |

something fishy is going on, way too much marketing hype too late in the rhythm game. odds are they're trying to sell an interactive tutor. Obviously there is some sort of adapter. I don't know about you, but I cannot seem to find a 1/4" jack on my PS3, nor does my ESP LTD have a USB connector.
I, for one, think this sounds kind of cool, but I will wait to see how they pull it off. |

And then when you actually played; 20 minutes to get to where the fighting was. Pop, dead. 20 more minutes. Pop, dead. |

| 11 years to publish the first, which wasn't all that good (Especially with an 11 year development cycle). Now 5 more years pass before the sequel to a game that nobody really gave a shit about to begin with. Let me know how that turns out, yeah? I won't be spending my money on it. (Or DNF, which is also going to suck.) |

I like it, but not as much as DAO. I actually like the combat more, it feels faster paced and more exciting. However, in DAO, it felt like I was on an epic quest to save the world. I got to travel all over a kingdom, visit the dwarven underworld, the forest of the elves, the cities, mage tower, towns, etc. It was great, even if some of the side quests weren't so interesting.
In DA2, I seem to be visiting the same areas of the city over and over again, and when I'm not, I'm visiting the same wilderness and dungeons over and over again. It's fun, but I keep wondering why I can't go anywhere else. |

Loved DAO. Really loving DAII. I like the streamlined combat and character management. Also liking the DA Facebook game on my phone. Earning some bonus items in my short breaks between classes is great. I wish WoW would do something like that instead of grind based daily quests.
That said, I was a bit concerned after I first installed it. Then I hit their forums and found out I need the beta NVidia drivers and the texture download pack. After that, ran great, looked great. |

How does Guild Wars 1 hold up these days? The trilogy is up for $30 on steam. Thinking about giving it a try until 2 comes out. It doesn't hold up well at all these days, I would definitely wait on the second game. I was a huge fan of the first game but it's hard to revisit it.
Graphically it looks like buttocks, you can't jump, the scripting was novel at the time but has since been outdone and so on. If you are used to WoW, GW doesn't look too bad (And the newer campaigns and the expansion look very good.) Oh no! You can't jump! Not that you need to.
I've been playing it again because I am bored with WoW right now (and RIFT is a straight up clone) and I want to get free stuff for my GW2 characters. (Including reserving my names.)
And $30 for all of them is a good deal. |

I streamed Netflix through a PS3, the quality was good. Maybe not quite BD, but better than DVD. I don't like that movies and shows appear and disappear without notice. I added several things only to have them not be on my list the next day because they had been taken off the on demand part. I also didn't like that EVERY damn time I received a BD movie, it had to be sent back at least once because the first one was all messed up. Often it was 2 or 3 times. I canceled after that.
I tried Hulu Plus as well. Looks good, but it doesn't stream for shit. Keeps pausing for minutes at a time, breaks up, etc. I spoke to a rep, and they claim that it must be my ISP. Um, no. I can stream on my PC and my TV at the same time and get great looking movies from Amazon. Netflix worked fine. Vudu works fine. It's not my ISP. |

It's slightly different there than it is in the U.S. Here, we can say all kinds of crazy shit with no repercussions whatsoever. Doesn't even matter if it's true or not. There, you speak out against the drug cartels or the drug-related violence, and some guys will come kill you, and probably your family as well.
Which is why they need to do something about it. Instead, they do nothing, and hope that they don't get caught in the crossfire. Doing nothing is a choice. Should Jefferson and Washington and Adams have done nothing, because the Brits may have shot them? Should the peoples of Egypt and Tunisia have done nothing because some of them may have been killed? |

The only thing the US and Mexican government should be focusing in right now, is legalizing drugs. It's pretty damn clear Americans love to get high, and while it's a health issue, it's their choice, even if it's a poor one.
Such a false reason to legalize anything. The violence will never go away. No, but it will go way down. Crime rose 24% nationwide during prohibition in the US. Murder was up 12%. It's not the druggies, it's the organized criminals behind the illegal drug market. Have you ever been face to face with a drug addict? Have you watched a kid pick his sores even though there is no skin there and he is diggin in a blood pit on his arm? have you gone into a flop house after a bunch of junkies just ran from it? Have you seen how people in the throws of a drug binge live? Yes, yes I have. There are functional druggies as well as dysfunctional druggies. Just like alcoholics. Shit, just like any addict of anything. They make a choice, and they must deal with the consequences. The way it stands now, we all have to pay for them.
It is nothing like alcohol. I see both all the time. I have cases of both in my family. They aren't even remotely similar. Bullshit. I've seen people in the ER so fucked up from drinking binges that they were literally puking their guts out. I watched one guy die on a gurney as he was being rushed in because he though a case of redbull and a bottle of vodka at 10am was a good breakfast.
The drug war in the US is to prevent the drugs. The drug war south of the border is for control of the drugs in the area. The government doesn't give 2 squats about it's people or the "problem".
Huge difference. If you claim otherwise, you are living in a world with a different color sky. You want weed legalized? Fine, I really don't care. It doesn't get charged anyway at the local level in any form. The rest of the stuff....it isn't natural. It is made in a lab and it is not ok. On any level. Cocaine is natural. They process the powder into a concentrated form, but chewing coca leaves is something people have been doing forever. Also, many drugs are made in a lab. So what? You think we should all be getting Polio because the shot was made in a lab and it's bad?
Legalizing it will just give them permission to kill eachother for the rights to the land where they are killing eachother. People want to legalize things for their own selfish needs, not for the better of the whole. if you were to even legalize weed and try and regulate it and "tax the hell out of it" like everyone says, they will just do the same they are doing now, but the price might go down. Spoken like a man who has truly done 0 research on the subject. |
