Seeing the word "Ground" as it relates to Star Trek Online is a turn-off. I seriously dread having to do the horrifically tedious away missions...

14. Re: Breach Announced Mar 23, 2010, 01:04 Kedyn

Lets face the facts. There are only 2 reasons why you identify yourself as Conservative and both are disgusting. You are either very greedy and want all the wealth for yourself or you are racist bigot. Usually it is a combination of both those reasons. Be truthful and look deep at your motivations.

Wow, such generalizations! Read on...

America completely destroying the civilian infrastructure was useful to the military? How dangerous were water treatment plants and power plants?

Your military blew parts of Iraq back into the stone age and thousands of people died just from of lack of clean water, food, and lack of power.

Iraq is MUCH worse off WITH the illegal American occupation. The American puppet government in place makes sure the oil goes to the USA and people are pulled off the streets by American troops and disappear to be tortured. Your troops and mercenaries fire at civilians without any discretion.

If this is what America considers as "Democracy" then you can keep it.

Let's just ignore the following facts, complete with where I got them from :

1. Saddam did a pretty goddamn good job destroying his own infrastructure before we even got there. Many Iraqis bathed in and drank from fetid canals with filled with garbage and waste BEFORE THE WAR. Maybe Saddam was just too busy with being the great guy that he was to notice? (House to House by David Bellavia, My War by Colby Buzzell, One Bullet Away by Nathaniel Fick, and the personal account of a real life friend who was an infantryman in the 10th Mountain Division in Iraq.)

2. Most of the oil interests in Iraq are divided among many large multinational oil companies. Some American, some not. Oil is just another part of Iraqi infrastructure that was neglected due to Saddam's greed. Now that these companies are allowed to help Iraq develop their oil deposits, the companies AND Iraq can make a good profit, thanks to the "evils" of capitalism. http://www.businessweek.com/globalbiz/content/mar2010/gb2010034_232444.htm

3. American troops are under more pressure than simply being in a war zone - they have had to survive under rules of engagement that have gotten many of them killed. (My Men Are My Heroes by Brad Kasal, and pretty much any other first hand account of the war, including House to House and My War). Mercenaries, like Blackwater, are another story, and they are getting their days in court. But don't think that Blackwater is the only contractor in Iraq - there are many others that you never hear about, because they didn't royally fuck up the way Blackwater did. These contractors - from Blackwater and other companies - are former special operators and/or commandos from around the world, with the best training their home countries could provide. They are not mere thugs with guns.

4. "Waterboarding" is nothing. You know what the insurgents like to use for "interrogation"? Power tools. (Sheriff of Ramadi by Dick Couch). Many insurgents who "disappear" are actually *bad people*. Today, prisoners are humanely interrogated for the simple reason that coercion and torture simply don't work as well as the tried-and-true non-violent methods used in the United States and other countries for decades. Everyone gets their day in court, innocent or not. Back in 2006, when the insurgency was in full swing, each prisoner was brought before three judges : an American, a Sunni, and a Shiite. The guilty are given harsh sentences, which are generally 20 years in an Iraqi prison or the gallows. Those who are innocent, or if there is not enough evidence, they are generally set free. (How To Break a Terrorist by Matthew Alexander)

I was going to ask how I personally am so greedy when I'm currently collecting unemployment, and how I'm a "racist bigot" (which is like saying "stupid idiot"), but clearly you're way too ignorant of facts to really argue with any substance. Still, enlighten me : why am I a "greedy, racist bigot"?

Just a tip : you can learn *a lot* more about a subject by reading about it rather than watching the news. News networks always have a bias - reading multiple sources can help you to confirm what is true and what is not.

Yeah, it's great that an executive order prevented us from simply assassinating Saddam instead of sending in hundreds of thousands of troops, losing thousands of lives, and spending a trillion dollars.

Both things would've accomplished the same end, but for some reason THIS was the "best" way to do it?

If only things were actually that easy. Assassinating Saddam would not have caused Iraq to simply collapse and roll over - it would have probably been much worse for the people of Iraq in the long run. Or, someone else would simply have taken over and been just as much of a dick as Saddam.

I hope Cass Sundstein is paying you well. If not, then at least we don't have to pay to read that propaganda.

I wish. The only people that will be paying me anytime soon is unemployment.

And no, my opinions are formulated by my own personal research and the ability to form my own opinion.

The illegal American occupiers have slaughtered many more civilians than Sadam ever did. Can't figure out why anyone would be offended and this would be controversial. Yanks needs to turn off Fox News and wake up.

God I love it when people flaunt their ignorance. Keep drinking up the Koolaid from the liberal media, who continues to ignore the good that we have done while shining a giant spotlight on any mistakes we have made.

I don't even see the point of adding the Hammerhead now. Will they add missions for it later or something?

After smelling the horrific body odor of the unwashed masses at the midnight release of Mass Effect 2, I don't think I'll ever be able to do that again. At least, not alone. It's kinda depressing to go alone.

...a 40-something-year-old American woman traveling to Canada to meet a 16-year-old boy... more concerned about protecting the reputation of a video game than about fighting international sexual tourism...

Wait, what? I think this guy's confusing "sexual tourism" - which usually involves rich men traveling overseas into a country with lax laws and shitty plumbing to diddle little brown boys or girls - with "being a shameless cougar".

An extra bad-ass space marine, with a scar. ...Really?

Scarred, yes, but bad ass? This guy looks kinda old to be much of a bad ass, so he might at least have an interesting story!

I'm on a self-imposed "media blackout" regarding Mass Effect 2.

But I might watch a little of this one. I hope I don't regret it.

EDIT : Damnit, a third of the way and I already learned too much! No more! NO MORE!!!

Brittany Murphy also had an eating disorder, at least in the past.

I guess this makes a King of the Hill movie very unlikely.

Also check out Vernor Vinge's - A Fire Upon the Deep. Very much a classic.

I don't think I've ever read a book that had such a well done sense of subtle foreboding that grew the further you got into the book. You really did feel that the galaxy was coming to an end. He did an awesome job with that.

News Comments > Star Trek Online Quinto Trailer, Klingon PvP Details
5. Re: Star Trek Online Quinto Trailer, Klingon Details Dec 17, 2009, 20:51 Kedyn

Hmm...

The Klingon faction sounds... Cool. I'd play as a Klingon...

But it seems more-than-a-little tacked on.

You cannot customize the look of your ship, other than color?

There's no Klingon PvE content? (However, I doubt I'd really care too much about it)

I thought I heard that the Klingon faction was going to include more races than just Klingons? If so, will their ships be available?

I do have to admit, I'm a rabid Star Trek fanboy (as well as a PvPer!) and will probably buy any collector's edition of this game upon release, but some of the details make me wonder how long I'll end up playing this game before I fall back into WoW.

I see what you mean.

I just love Star Trek so much, and I *really* hope that this game is going to be something that I'd want to play long-term, but that would require some PvP elements to it. It doesn't sound like there will be many, so far.

I do know that I will probably be playing it regardless. I'll at least put $5 down at Gamestop so I can get into the beta, if I don't get into it before January.

Unfortunately, if multiple players were required to command a starship, there would be more "desirable" jobs than others, just like in any other MMO. If you play the latest WoW patch, you get to see that in action - those that queue as a tank or healer wait less than a minute for a group, while anyone who queues as DPS is waiting ten minutes or more.

I'm not sure about any of you, but if I were on a starship, I'd want to be the one driving.

So has anyone on Blues gotten into the beta yet? I signed up, but haven't gotten anything.

Heh back to the 90's!!! One of my favorite games of all time came on 4 or 5 cd's. Wing Commander III FTW!!!!

Not that Im going to be buying Dumb Effect 2 out of nostalgia or any other reasons...

I remember WC3 was on 4 CDs, WC4 was on 6 (!), but somehow Prophecy was only on 3.

Anyway, it's your loss, skipping out on ME2. I loved the first one and can't wait for this.
