I live in DFW and applied. I'm a little curious to see what kind of stuff they're putting out to test.

We will have the Tomb Raider 50% deal back as soon as possible Thanks for your patience folks. -James

GMG frequently runs out of keys and has to get more (publishers don't anticipate the number of sales they can generate, and gives them what they consider an adequate block, and generally its not). Since the sales are often near the weekend, sometimes it takes a bit to track down people and get another block of keys.

I don't know for sure that's what happened here, but that would be my guess.

Sounds like it - they had more today so I picked one up. Unfortunately it was 1 hour after the Dealzon deal ended. Oh well - still 50% off a $50 game!

I like WoT too, but I haven't touched it since Planetside 2 came out. I may pick it up again soon though - maybe after I finish my $10 Mass Effect 3.

$9 for Mass Effect 3 - I think that's the right price to take the plunge. Any DLC I shouldn't miss?

Trevellian wrote on Apr 11, 2013, 20:45:
So many of you claim to know so much about a game you all claim to not even or hardly play. It's hilarious.

The game has been improving with every update and the next one will return the game to a more Planetside 1 state with a funneling/lattice system and actual base capture timers.

They make you redownload 5 gigs every time there is a HUGE map update, i.e. the next update coming up with reworked bases and territory. This is because you have to download the entire map files for the giant maps with all the changes.

This cert thing is indeed a pretty serious fuck up. But it's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. They can give people all the free certs in the world it won't make them a better player or able to take on organized outfits.

Quit fucking crying about a good F2P battlefield style game on a massive scale. Just like any other F2P game if you don't want to put a little cash into it to unlock a few weapons, or you don't want to put a few days of time in to unlock a weapon (Seriously, those of you crying that 1000 certs is a lot for a weapon, don't play the fucking game, you can easily make 300+ Certs in a few hours, I made 700 certs in 3 hours the other night) then you need to go play another fucking game anyway. You're what I refer to as a freeloader, a Free player who thinks they deserve the world. Get lost.

I agree to an extent - but keep in mind that free players and the lack of barrier to entry is what helps keep the game's population up. Truthfully, I think they need to increase the cert earning rate for all free/non-100% boosted players (the ideal solution) or decrease overall cert costs (not the ideal solution) to try to keep them playing. As it is right now, the "time" barrier is too high to retain a free community that has to put up with more bullcrap than paying players.

That said, I received a significant amount of certs from the payout - 60,800. To put things in perspective, I have 25 of my 28 days (672 hours) on this character, and before the payout I had earned around 43,200.

It is crazy that not only were my total certs doubled, but I received the 60,800 certs on every character on my account - all six.

However, I have spent a SIGNIFICANT amount of money on Planetside 2:

$40 for Alpha Squad
$20 for Triple Station Cash back in July
$30 for SOE Station Cash cards from 7-11 (double SC promo)
$30 for two Station Cash cards from Gamestop (only one had the NS-11 promo, my mistake)
$100 for Triple Station Cash back in December
$70 for two 3 month memberships (I bought 3 months initially and decided to purchase 3 more once I decided to commit to the game fully)

Also:

$30 for two Station Cash cards from Gamestop that my brother got for me for Christmas
$60 for 4 Walmart Station Cash cards purchased with gift cards I received from work

So, around $380. That's a pretty crazy amount of money to spend on a game, but keep in mind I have gotten over 672 hours of enjoyment out of it, so that's around .57 per hour. I'm pretty happy with that.

Second, I can now play the game where I want, and how I want.

My main is on a server with a somewhat low TR population most hours. I can mostly play at night, so I play on an alternate west coast server - Connery. I play VS there because of the lower pop. Now, I don't have to grind a bunch of crap to be effective - I have almost everything I need!

This is probably a sign of what SOE should do to help balance out population issues - certification cloning to servers with underpopulated empires.

Anyway, these are just some thoughts from the game - I'm hoping to turn them into a more coherent post on the official forums. Thanks for reading.

With publishers losing so much money so often, I think it's a sign that the entire system is broken, except for the "sure things" like the obligatory Madden or COD sequel. Maybe someone will figure out soon how video games need to be made today rather than follow the formula of how video games were made 5 years ago when the economy was better.

The TR reboot is a failure. Nice!

You're happy that the TR reboot is a commercial "failure"? Why?
I despise SE for their kind of "rape" guerilla marketing they tried on this re-boot. I despise this game for being an action sellout. I despise this game for being an exploitation game, where the main character is presented in cutscenes as a fearful vulnerable girl, and only seconds after this cutscene, the player is killing a whole battalion of enemies with this character. This is cheap and bad story telling. Its an exploitation of the franchise.

I'm sorry that this game offended your delicate sensibilities. How dare a mere *video game* try to do what movies do? Video games aren't true art or expression of emotion and should never try to be ever again! Give me more Buff Action Guy XXXIV: The Reloadeadeningation!

Sounds like you read Ben K.'s junk journalism opinion piece on Penny Arcade about the game and let him form your opinion for you. Bravo.

This new patch totally skull-fucked performance. I never had FPS drop below 30 on high settings - now I'm using low and getting FPS drops into the teens. SOE is looking into it, though, so hopefully they'll get it fixed tonight.

Interesting. I see the terrible, terrible governments which do not deserve to exist have finally gotten around to providing minimal training before shoving their useless dupes into deadly combat.

If only that other part of the galaxy where giant robots are standard did he same thing. Who wants to fight for fascist dictatorships which treat their population as expendable cannon fodder?

In a war without death, who needs training?

159 a night? Ouch

That's about the going rate these days unless you are staying in a crap hole.

Or you too lazy to look around for a better value - of which there are always plenty. I never understood high priced hotel rooms. It's just a place to crash for a few hours and have a shower. Hell, I wish we had those Japanese micro hotels that are basically just that.

The Hilton Anatole, which hosts Quakecon, is a *very* nice hotel. However, since it's full service, be prepared to spend money. If you want to try for something cheaper, check out Priceline or another 3rd part site, or check out the other hotels nearby - there are a few that are right across the street. Make sure to factor in the special $8 parking charge for people booking the Quakecon rate - self-parking is normally $17 w/ valet parking at $26.
