We know that some people have been playing with an unfair advantage in the Crysis 2 demo. Rest assured that although the demo does not have these features installed, our team has been working for some time on various anti-cheat measures that have been introduced for the retail release of Crysis 2. We would like to make sure everyone is aware of how important this issue is to us, and that we will continue to strive for a cheat-free community with Crysis 2. Talk is cheap. We'll see if they are being honest. Their talk with Crysis Wars & patching turned out to be lies.

I'm thinking it's the economy and people now are doing things they wouldn't normally do to survive. I can't completely blame PC gamer for doing what they feel they have to do - sell out.
It's a decent game. There are some high production values and nice aspects to the game. Some will like it. Many will feel insulted and betrayed when comparing it to DA:O.

Failure is always a possibility but Bliz has a proven track record and devout fan base. I have little doubt Titan will be successful. How successful is the question.

Investors/board of directors: "Are we investing in the FPS genre similar to the hugely profitable CoD series?"
Publisher: "Yes, absolutely. "

There's a quartet of distinct game types which will see you surviving waves of enemies, flushing out embedded AI, escorting convoys and performing search and rescue operations. It's obvious you work for them. I see praising comments like this in the Metacritic user reviews for the previous title also. Every comment gives it a 0 to a 4 and then up pops a 9 or 10 with PHD thesis vocabulary and clever phrases that skilfully avoid the painful failures that CM has delivered with this series -- much like what I quoted above.
Sure I want to like the new OF games, but there's so much consolitis here I have to head to the drug store pharmacy. |

Yeah I just played the demo some and yeah, it's rather fun. I hope there will be maps with lots of vegetation to hide in. My biggest concern is if Crytek will abandon the game and let the haxors/cheaters ruin it. It's NOT worth $50+ for that.

It's been this way on PC since 1984 when EGA cards came out and offered visual benefit over CGA, people. Welcome to the computer age.

The Xbox 360 has DirectX 11 support. Microsoft owns both brands, of course it can. The 360 supports a very limited/primitive aspect of tesselation but it's not DX11 capable. The full DX11 is much more than tesselation anyway.

Tumbler wrote on Mar 8, 2011, 11:52: The differences here are basically why I prefer the console games for the most cases, the games aren't that different, the 360 is very respectable and costs a fraction of what the PC does in every respect. PC screenshots are DX9 so this isn't showing what DX11 will look like so it's a poor comparison for the full game. Enjoy aiming with your thumbs and mod support on the prison box 360.
Edit: from wikipedia page on Crysis 2 DEMO: "The swedish website "sweclockers.com" also posted an article saying that the PC version of the game (demo) will not be released with support for DirectX 11"
The recent 1.2 patch for the crysis 2 demo might have introduced DX11 but the youtube video in question was made before said patch was released.

Thanks for the nice review JaguarUSF! I've noticed a few issues with the game though. It uses only one CPU core and performance is terrible on at least the one huge town map (I think for ATI users).
Also, the UI needs a lot of improvements. For example it needs visual and audible signals to remind people to ready up in the lobby. It sorely needs dedicated servers. It needs to borrow much of the fantastic MP part of World in Conflict (without WiC's arcadey gameplay).
You might consider mentioning in your review that the game is geared for the more hardcore RTS fans and that knowing all the nuances of WW2 hardware can help tremendously, but is not mandatory.

entr0py wrote on Mar 5, 2011, 17:37: That's a bit confusing, is he saying that, if the best you can run is dx 10, you can still run the game in "dx 11 mode" and have some of the advanced features work?
If so that's great. And they should just say that the game supports dx 9, 10 and 11. Up until now they've implied there was a gap at 10. DX11 runs on DX10 hardware, but there are some DX11 exclusive features aren't supported on DX10 hardware. From the linked article it seems that DA2 does give those of us with DX11 hardware some exclusive features that won't be available on DX10 hardware. But DX10 will still offer benefits over DX9 in DA2.
ps. Google "directx 11 on directx 10 hardware"

| Hey I like what they said here and I like that they are taking advantage of advanced PC graphics! No need to make all versions look *equal*. There's something cool & fun just to see the new graphics effects implemented in a new game. |

They should take Turbine's approach (which has been highly successful for them in DDO and LOTRO) and focus on charging for DLC. Just having an extended demo with crippled features isn't going to attract enough people. If they add Smurfberries to buy, they'll probably quadruple their profits right there.

It's SP and MP but it's more focused on MP. The MP is mostly PvE/coop. A2 is a poor PvP experience, imo, and the server player counts bear this out. |
