While the concept of net neutrality seems complex, the solution is simple: We should classify broadband access as a utility.

And that will solve all our problems! Not!

The actual solution is more competition. The article even admits the big telcos have thwarted competition.

Yeah I wouldn't call their long-scheduled end of support as an abuse of market position. Watch them extend it for at least another year (or more). There's a lot of competition in the OS market right now. MS can't afford to alienate their customers right now. If they do, they risk losing what's left of any substantial market position they have left.

IMO competition is working now in this sector. Okay it's not ideal competition but I don't consider MS to have a monopoly in the computing devices OS market. No need to worry.

This. I wasn't too impressed. I liked that they took some ideas from Skyrim (obvious) but yeah, it certainly came across as a console action game to me more than a RPG. They just showed the window dressings here, not the depth that a good RPG needs. I noticed pop-in too. Also the attacks looked like awesome-button revisited.

Here is an example of a PC exclusive that will never be on a console. It has choices and consequences, too: Dwarves or zombies. UBI may try to buy them but...

Oh wait..

Consoles are a much better value then getting a pc. You might be able to build a 500 dollar pc with comparable specs as a ps4 but no way you are playing even console ports 5 years from now on that same pc with a decent framerate.

Sure you'll be able to. Just lower the graphic settings. PC games have the option of higher graphic settings. They're not mandatory.

A 500 dollar gaming PC has a huge and vast collection of games and other software to run, many of them exclusives. A PS4 doesn't. Your thinking is backwards. A console isn't a better value than a gaming PC. It's a convenience at the cost of flexibility and freedom.

Yes there are those conveniences for a console. Maybe also you're rationalizing your PS4 purchase(?) not having yet come to fruition. True not everyone knows or even wants to know that they're getting a bad value for their money, or they are speculating their console purchase will pay off in the future. I'd put people here in these forums in the latter category of course.

I see that people usually buy pricey electronics without doing much or any research. They have no idea what they're getting beyond the basic function stated on the box. Ignorance is bliss I guess. I'm not just talking consoles.

I remember years ago I needed tires for my car. I went to the shop and they tried to sell me some tires they said were 'good tires.' I realized I could be getting ripped off. I declined and went home and did some Internet research to find out they were poor quality and priced much too high. Same thing applies to consoles or PC's.. Don't get ripped off.

So it's not a elitist 'master race' thing to me. It's just that the value of it isn't there, yet. I guess I shouldn't underestimate the value of hundreds of millions of dollars in marketing to 'leverage demand to get the ball rolling.'

Sorry for off topic.

Why even buy a PS4 and not a PC where the graphics are just as good and there are vastly more games, far better game prices, etc. It's no contest. Get a PS4 if you don't know how to plug a wireless dongle into a USB port on your PC.

What made it illegal exactly? Its very existence prohibited? Banksters writing EU laws to prohibit competition with their mafia Euro currency?

I find cars to be a nuisance and peeping toms spy from them. In fact, cars cause far more deaths and injuries and have been widely exploited by millions of criminals during actual criminal activity.

The below quote applies to the rampant and systematic paranoia that we now see expressed by the authorities:

"The personality’s paranoia and mistrust of other people by focusing on other people’s failings is magnified into making others into threatening adversaries. Hence, history is full of the purges of Stalin, the paranoia of Nazi Germany, and the ravings of Gadhafi at the UN in 2009. Unfortunately, the paranoid person is actually in a hell realm which helps to justify the extreme measures they take to “protect themselves”." - Eckhart Tolle

Read this article and learn about the 'protections' that Beamer touts. This is socialism at work for you. Central planning propaganda bullshit that has done tremendous damage to the general health and welfare of the country. Don't believe the misleading lies of socialists and their childish idiotic logic! You are not protected. Be responsible for yourself. Be your own government.

Yeah FDR is one of the worst presidents in the history of this country. Sure he inherited a bad situation but his solution was a massive warfare/welfare state. It didn't work. I'm not talking about consumer protections which are a tiny part of the bigger picture here. FDR administration was a catastrophe.

He had a big part in creating the military industrial complex and the American global militarism that we still to this day can not end that wastes us trillions. Fuck consumer protections if that's the cost of it! A murderous empire that continuously starts wars under false pretenses and the countless millions of people who are dead from it.

Enjoy your international graveyards and enslavement to the corporate socialist elite. Consumer protecitons. LOL you think you're protected??! ?!hahahahahha

the New Deal, that awful piece of socialist bullcrap that was the government overstepping its bounds and creating a protected middle class!

That's propaganda rhetoric and bullshit that TND was good. TND was a massive waste of resources. The middle class wasn't created by central planning. New technologies did far more for creating wealth of the middle class. The grandstanding politicians just took credit for it just like they do for so many things that they slant as a good thing. If you believe politicians or even your professor on that, you are a fool.

The economy collapsed in 1929 because of catastrophic socialist policies. It was a massive bubble that could not sustain itself. Roughly speaking it all goes back to when the Fed was created in 1913. After creation, they created more reserve notes (fake money) than was actually out there and the market would not accept it. The house of cards collapsed that was the socialist Fed Reserve money system.

It wasn't too dissimilar from what happened in the 2000's up to today except that after the crash happened, this time the socialists who manage our economy didn't make it even worse by ruining crops, etc, to prop up prices. Instead this time the socialists just bailed out banks to prop up real estate prices. Socialists fight reality instead of work with it.

Socialism is the problem here. Touting the problem (socialism) AS the actual solution is idiotic.

You take away the smartphone from my nieces and they are downright depressed, they just sit there listlessly as if they don't know how to socialize outside of it. It's kind of scary how dependent people are on them.

I view it as an emotional/psychological dependance and/or addiction. There's also some societal conditioning involved.

i wouldn't exactly put shoes into that category. It would be difficult but the emotional detachment would be less severe but the physical discomfort would be greater obviously. Well some people are obsessed with shoes so that's a different thing. hah

Yes this. TV news is, imo, a lot of misleading propaganda. So are other news sources.

Is this the best way to oppose this CISPA in disguise by using NN as a way to motivate opposition? I remember CISPA as being nearly universally despised but now that it's been given a new book cover with the 'security' title it's a whole new ball game?
