Those that love role playing games will enjoy this game, but make sure the moral content doesn't bother you before parting with $60. He doesn't outright mention or is ignorant about the game's profuse occult and Satanic references. Skyrim is no game for people who want to avoid these things.

| Thank you Blue! Until now I found it odd the game would launch without Steam and that the LAA modified exe wasn't detected when launching from Steam. |

As far as I know, we've heard nothing about their DLC release date plans, which sound more like expansions. Rough estimates would be nice. January? July? 2042? I'm busy that year but 2043 is open.
edit: Good to hear Bethesda is going to churn one out so soon but I'm not sure how much they can do so quickly after the release day patch. This game sorely needs patching and considering Bethesda's track record I doubt they'll give it anywhere close to what's needed.

Meanwhile pirates play it without any restrictions at all. Yeah I am certainly not buying this because it has extreme DRM.

All modern game audio is done completely in software, and AFAIK you have to do special tricks (Alchemy?) to use EAX in the older games that used it if you run them on Vista or later. Yeah maybe that was a good thing after all.

Just installed the 11.11s, if they're worse I kept the 11.10s available. 5870 here and Skyrim is very stable. I crashed it twice when changing game timescale or bumping up the graphics settings to extreme settings in the .ini's. Those were my own fault. Using the newest 11.10's but I'm tempted to install these and hope there's some improvement.

I think a big part of it is that the combat is so much better. But even the world itself is so much more alive. I'm guessing that a lot more money and resources went into Skyrim and it shows.

Hump wrote on Nov 12, 2011, 01:04: I'm liking the game but I agree with the above. This is not an improvement on previous ES titles UI/menus etc Yeah, I agree too. Bethesda did say they were looking into making any sort of improvements to the game in the coming DLC so hopefully they'll give the UI an overhaul. Thing is, it's all been done before. We are more or less asking for the same RPG UI as we've had for 10+ years that other titles have already perfected. |

Cutter wrote on Nov 12, 2011, 00:12: Now, whilst I don't quite share his disdain, I do agree heartily with the part I bolded. Yes, the game is nice to look at but it's not what true CRPG fans want. I'm just afraid that we won't see anymore hardcore(ish) major titles that will be made for us as it's all about pandering to the largest crowd for money now. I suspect that they'll probably do this with the next Fallout game too. Sigh. I dunno. Maybe it's time to find a new hobby. The part you bolded was the only part of substance. The rest was just an angry ego rant/attack. He's looking for Morrowind and can't find it in Skyrim. Duh, it's a different game. I think the game has just as much or more RPG depth. It was just implemented in different ways. I'm sure there are aspects that Skyrim has that Morrowind does not.
I could type a hypothetical rant saying how angry I am at Bethesda for making Morrowind and that it should at least match up to Skyrim. God what shitty combat, terrible god-awful animations, terrible hideous NPC faces, boring repetitive interiors, etc etc.... Bethesda should jump off a cliff after making Morrowind. And wtf, the sounds are hideous. The user interface in Morrowind is even worse than Skyrim. I could go on..

Jerykk wrote on Nov 11, 2011, 04:02: Uh, the UI in Oblivion was 100 times better than this. You could actually click on everything. What you can click on in Skyrim's UI seems completely inconsistent. It's really, really terrible. ...
Also, the game runs like ass for me. The only way to get 60 FPS is to use the lowest detail settings. I'm hoping this is just another case of crappy ATI drivers. The pirate version has inconsistent behavior in the UI where clicks don't register and such... Retail UI is smooth and fast. Takes about three hours to get used to the UI, then it's not too bad. My guess main gripe is there's no compare feature for items.
Performance is great on my ATI card. Latest drivers. 3rd person seems better. First person seems to sometimes skip and stutter sometimes more than others.
This is the best RPG I've played in, like.... A very long time.
Doing this helps mouse control also:
APPLY to SkyrimPrefs.ini \Users\[Username]\My Documents\My Games\Skyrim directory. -
bMouseAcceleration=0 fForegroundMouseAccelBase=0 fForegroundMouseAccelTop=0 fForegroundMouseBase=0 fForegroundMouseMult=0

Cutter wrote on Nov 10, 2011, 23:58: Just got back from grabbing a coffee and took a look at my local Gamestop. It had several dozen people waiting for the midnight sale. And I'm thinking, they must be console players because why on earth wouldyou wait in line in the cold to buy a PC copy and have the priviledge of paying taxes on it - which we don't online. So that's one up for PC gamers. Oh yeah.. I did the midnight F:NV launch and was the only PC gamer out of ~25 people. I mentioned FO3 modding was da shit and the guy I was talking to turned away and it wasn't my breath (that day) that did it. Gamestop employees made a big scene about my getting the PeeCee version, announcing it out loud so that everyone could hear it. I wore it with pride.

Identity theft marketplace sells mothers' maiden names, dates of birth, etc |

| Just showing that the identification system we use is woefully out of date. It worked in the 1950's but come on... SS#, DoB, names, places, planets -- are all passwords and are inadequate and unnecessary ways to identify someone. Let me guess, instead of revamping the system, the feds will wage a new (and profitable) war on identity theft. |
