1. ACTA Support Unraveling. May 7, 2012, 13:04 LittleMe

I doubt they, Big Content, are going to back off. That is until they can learn to adapt and profit as much or more from an open & free Internet.

There is a point where if laws are broken by a great many, then the laws should be questioned, not expanded. That would happen if we actually lived in a republic and not an oligarchy.

Oh BBC. You're only just now catching on? VPNs have been used for many years, even before shit started getting banned, in order to protect themselves. N00bs.

It means lawmakers are going to be paying attention to people doing this and potentially outlawing it. Governments a waging a war on a free and open internet. The early/founding ideals of the Internet are under considerable threat.

Yeah this will be a disappointment if it's just another copycat fantasy MMO. However I would gladly pay $20 for a Skyrim PvE MP DLC. I'd pay $40 for comprehensive multiplayer Skyrim expansion.

Worth every bit of the $35 I spent, had a blast playing this Coop and it's the reason I finally joined Steam. If the only difference in GotY is DLC, pass on it and just buy the regular game, since for the most part DLC sucks in this game.

It's true it was consolized, but easily editable for PC gamers. Once modded it looked and ran amazingly, with the Resort area being extremely well done. This is a problem Techland has had all along, they are console *hores, can't seem to wrap there head around the whole PC thing. However the biggest problems they've had their past game(s) CoJ, which did get fixed? Open world and Coop are done really well here.

Are there actual specifics about the complaints of the trailer not portraying the actual game, I didn't notice?

The main thing afaik is there really isn't a better Coop game, certainly nothing this well done in a long time.

Yes I agree. I also enjoyed this game a lot. Took me 30hrs to finish the campaign (coop). I didn't rush it. Many times the graphics wowed me. The world is varied enough, the textures are good and colorful. Sounds are good. Weapons customizing system is very well done. It's not a perfect game, no. Roughly 8/10 for me.

Will still go back to it occasionally. Sometimes there's graphical stuttering when moving, but when standing still it's gone.

Coop was innovatively implemented where if someone else online was near you in the game-world, you could join them or they could join you in progress. No need to manually setup a coop session. It just worked. You'd keep all your levels/guns/ammo/etc when joining someone else's game. It's more casual but it worked. For small scale coop like this, no dedicated servers are needed. You can also join other players via STEAM friends drop-down menu.

I'm very much hoping they make an improved sequel that is still true to this one. A patch would be nice for this GOTY release. Agree it seems like a cash-in and doesn't offer anything more to us.

AT&T, the fascist mega-corporation. They support CISPA so they can spy on you and everyone else under a vague notion of counter-terrorism. Terrorism being defined as whatever the authorities deem it to be that month.

Game ran just fine on my ATI 5870 w/q9550. Angry Joe compared it in some detail to SR2 saying story and depth of SR3 is not nearly as good as SR2. He was harsh on it.

But I think it's still a great game, great (better?) sense of humor, better presentation, great PC port, etc. In several ways, but not all, SR3 is the better game (on PC).

Yes there are times when I think a developer/publisher releasing a bad/buggy/unfinished game causes long term rep damage. But their post-release support here has been great and I think they've redeemed themselves. A company's value is more than what's in the bank or short/medium term projected sales.

Even the dumbest, staunchest military supporter realizes that a military is of no use if there's nothing to protect.

This isn't true. Political figures will find new enemies and beat the nationalistic drums of war as long as the masses buy into it. It's an ego enhancing behavior. People want enemies to compare themselves with. The more they differentiate themselves from perceived enemies, the more they enhance their false sense of self. It is human insanity.

Couple with all those people leaving the military and the focus becomes spending on jobs, education, infrastructure, etc. where it should be.

The warfare/welfare state goes hand-in-hand. They are two sides of the same coin. If you want broad socialist policies ('central planning' to feel good), then you are also going to get militarism.

Gaming is really the only reason most of us ever use Windows.

Speak for yourself Jack! Let's see... games, internet, documents, music, watching videos... yeah I use Windows for everything. I have no interest in fucking with Linux, but can kind of understand the appeal of a free system.

The things you mention can be done in Linux just fine. Gaming is where Linux really takes a back seat to windows. That is, games made by big developers run great in Windows and too often either don't work or take a lot of work to run in Wine.

Gaming is what is keeping Windows relevant for a lot of people, me included. They stand to lose a lot if they lose the PC gaming market. I applaud Valve for this Linux push.

I'd say that putting their focus on consoles didn't help them stay in business. It produced their first complete flop, and put them in a position to have to sell the company.

This is now QuakeCon in name only. They should just rename it to BethesdaCon. Just look at where it was announced...

Yeah they should come here to Maryland! Yeah just because there is more money in console games doesn't guarantee success. I'd say as a consumer, they didn't pull off the transition very successfully as they shrugged off their existing hard-core customers. Quakecon for console gamers? LOL

Anything can be done in software. Hardware just makes it run a lot faster. You could get an Atari 2600 to simulate d3d 11, it would just take a few days to render a single frame.

Yeah I'm thinking it is. They've listened to the community and patched a lot of the failings of the original release. Still some more patching and features to add, like fog of war which might still happen.

I'm excited about TA and will play it. The EULA bothered me a little. It read vaguely about scanning for 'illegal software' and reporting it back to them. I think their intent was not to scan for pirated software but for the EULA to allow scanning for cheating software. But the way it read, it could be interpreted as the former. Am I mistaken?

I don't like open ended permissions like that on my computer. I own it. It's mine. I'm legit, but I'm not willing to be under their scrutiny for how I use my machine.

it’s a pleasant surprise to see it this soon since the GTX 680 is still significantly supply constrained. We weren’t expecting to see this price cut until the GTX 680 supply improved, as AMD is still the only option when it comes to readily available cards.

Many people would rather wait for a cheaper & faster 680 than feel like crap for being ripped off for buying a 79xx at $570 or whatever they were going for.

No, we don't need any of it. Instead of asking for more of the fascist police state, how about questioning what is going on to bring it about?
