zombiefan wrote on May 22, 2012, 22:58: Better yet, just get rid of the ridiculous "real-time" day and night cycles and institute a 60 minute day/night arc. That way you can at least experience each through a play session. 60 minute days? Yuck. 6-9 hours would be nice though. That was one of the best changes to Fallout 3 and New Vegas that I did was increase the timescale 1/3rd real time.
BTW, there are servers running alternate time settings so you can play in daylight at night. As Shok said "just looked for US servers with "UTC +4" in their names."

Frijoles wrote on May 22, 2012, 17:34: Adding body temperature seems lame. There's a point where gameplay starts to suffer because of realism. I haven't tried it though, so maybe it won't be so bad. I just played some and I don't like body temperature as it has been implemented. Running and jogging should increase body temperature, but it doesn't. Did they implement coats/jackets for us? I don't think they did. And not all indoor areas keep you warm. I went into a shack and, well, no warmth. Shocker!! And you cool off quickly.
The runner zombies still dart back & forth in a very unnatural and very difficult way to shoot when they are coming at you, also.
Frijoles wrote on May 22, 2012, 17:34: I logged in a few nights ago and it was pitch black in the game. I ended up logging out because I couldn't see worth shit. I'm hoping there's some sort of moon cycle in the game and that's why I couldn't see. There is a moon cycle, I believe. Alternatively, you can increase the game brightness and gamma in video settings to see at night. I don't consider it a cheat/exploit since our eyes adjust similarly at night anyway.

No. If they shoot and hit you first you can kill them and not lose any humanity. That is how I understand it and how I've seen it played out. |

Remember, the federal reserve dumped hundreds of billions and even trillions of dollars into the economy as 'stimulous,' 'bailouts' and pumped zero percent interest loans to fuel the real estate bubble, and the feds are still doing it to pay for the obscenely expensive warfare/welfare state. All of this devalues our money. This is the reason we are seeing the effects of price inflation.

There's no more capacity at the moment and for the foreseeable future.

I fucking love this mod! WTF #1 on steam. LOL. All that said, the most recent patch turned the zombie counts up to 11 and its very easy to be quickly overrun by fifteen zombies. I think (hope) they are going to turn the zed counts down in the next patch.
I think the game needs mele weapons for stealth kills (PvE or PvP). I realize mele combat would require a lot of work for them to implement, but I think it's needed.
DayZ is going through growing pains right now. Be patient when connecting. If you end up in the 'debug forest' with no weapon and can't move, exit back to the server lobby, then try again (click OK). |

I was tempted when it came out, but watching gameplay vids convinced me it was not for me. Too kiddie. Too generic. Too grindy. Too much pedo.

just read the joys of server lag and auto-disconnects over on rockpapershotgun. So just play singleplayer. Single-player requires a log-in and constant online connection just like multiplayer. If you lose your connection, you get booted out of the game (and will likely lose progress) even if you're playing single-player. It's basically the same as UbiDRM, only people are ignoring that fact because it's Diablo 3. I'm quite sure that Sepharo meant it as one of his many sarcastic jokes. |

Yeah Day Z is only at alpha and is soooo good. Winchester lever shotgun w/slugs - win. Staying away from the bigger cities, surviving from villages in the countryside. So very immersive.
Btw, the central player data/auth server seems much improved today. Just takes some patience to get onto a server and then it was no problem. Well, the server had some occasional lag but nothing too bad.

I doubt they, Big Content, are going to back off. That is until they can learn to adapt and profit as much or more from an open & free Internet.

Yeah this will be a disappointment if it's just another copycat fantasy MMO. However I would gladly pay $20 for a Skyrim PvE MP DLC. I'd pay $40 for comprehensive multiplayer Skyrim expansion. |
