Reading the responses to the ARS article you would think none of these people had ever played a hard core game. Eve is hard core, Wildstar is just another themepark that is a shade more difficult than average.

Personally, I had enough cartoons in Wow. That turned me off right away to start with.

Even EVE is more accessible than Wildstar's endgame. The attunement process is a massive assrape. The dungeons are extremely punishing and require ideal class composition if you have any hope of beating the Silver medal requirement needed for attunement. If you're running a less than optimal class, your odds of getting attuned are extremely low unless your guild is willing to straight up carry your subpar DPS and lack of utility. And even then, you still have to be pretty good, because you cannot carry a complete potato through attunement. It's just too tightly tuned.

In all my years playing EVE I wasn't locked out of playing the game because of a difficulty curve. Sure, I had to do a bit of research on things, and the game is large in scope, but getting to the fun parts of EVE is a lot easier than getting to the fun parts of Wildstar.

I'd go so far as to say that unless you're playing with a guild that had top 100 worldwide progression in WoW, that you just shouldn't bother with Wildstar. You will have fun for a little while and then when you hit the brick fucking wall that is Silver Dungeons and realize you don't have anyone skilled enough to complete them playing with you, you will quit.

I'm in a guild with very skilled players (Top 20 US raiders in WoW, some with even higher experience than that), but since I'm not part of the clique, the skilled players or players with powerful classes are all having fun, and I'm fucking jumping around in the capital city.

Wow thanks for this insightful post on how the game works at higher levels (silver dungeons). Yeah I like hardcore but not one that forces me to guess the correct skills/class/race combination before allowing me to play the high level content. I guess a lot of people will level up multiple chars before getting it right..? I like hardcore, but sheesh. Glad I went withe ESO (half price) for the time being.

Who's got the bandwidth for 60 fps?

i do, but the bitrate on Youtube videos is crap.

+1 this. I hope they double the bitrate with the doubling of frame rate otherwise it will look awful. I have some doubts about that happening.

These guys are a class A (AAA?) operation. I'm tempted to buy two copies just to support them. Let's start a 'we love Larian Studios' campaign! <:D

And how about holding publishers and developers liable for not fixing their hacked games? Nah, getting the government involved is about revenge, not fixing things. I sympathize with the desire for making them serve criminal sentences but really, it won't fix much and it won't work anyway. Vote with your wallet and complain when there are problems, that will work.

The new interiors look nice, but damn if that didn't take ~5 hours to download. At first it was at 19kb/sec.. Then finally after a long while the download speed increased to a reasonable rate. I have lots of bandwidth so it wasn't my end!

I think the piracy of Crysis 1 was a good sign that while there was demand for their product that they just needed to improve quality? It wasn't a good value to buy it but it was cool to look at and entertaining to play for a while. By poor quality I mean terrible performance, weak story and terrible post-release patch support for multiplayer.

I'm sincerely hoping the WD2 will be much improved. It was a good first iteration (while recycling many game mechanics) and now they need to improve a lot with it. There's a lot of money to be made in this genre.

Yeah the idea of 'mining pools' is counter to the goal of decentralization. The pools are centrally managed so do away with them please.

The market is pushing TV to evolve with Amazon/Netflix/etc but the dinosaur government mandated duopoly will cling on for a long time, sucking our wallets dry.

The idea of channels (since you guys are discussing it) needs to change or even die. We don't need whole channels when they just produce a few good shows and the rest are not. We can now push a button to watch what we want to, unlike 20th century technology. It's more efficient this way too. Networks might become more like publishers in the future where they back certain shows that we buy or select, etc.. Who knows but I do know we need to allow the market to change and not support the status quo.

It's not all good or bad, imo. It's going to be a blessing and a curse. Sometimes there will be games that can be had or further developed that wouldn't have happened without early access. Then there are games that are going to be ea games that fail. Use it when it suits your needs and don't when it doesn't.

The current antiquated system of a credit card number with expiration date is woefully inadequate. Get a string of numbers and you can steal from an unknown stranger... What a tantalizing carrot to incentivize crime. Same with social security numbers - entirely antiquated number system that is supposed to identify someone but again incentivizes easily executed identity theft.

Why does our country so resist these changes? Oh yeah, the authorities protect and regulate us so we can continue to use these terrible systems. Fail.

News Comments > Grand Theft Auto V for PC This Fall
56. Re: Grand Theft Auto V for PC This Fall Jun 10, 2014, 15:15 LittleMe

Good news, surely. I too had given up hope for PC love considering six months had long passed since release with no further announcement. I did say here a long while back that the delay might be for next-gen treatment but it was pure speculation but money talks and it would have been stupid of them to not release for PS4/X1/PC considering how much money they stand to make on it.

Otherwise I have one request... Please make it a good port! There's reason to think it will at least perform well considering that the PS4/Xbone are so close to PC hardware.

1. Cable Companies Are Astroturfing Fake Consumer Support to End Net Neutrality. Jun 7, 2014, 15:02 LittleMe

Let there be no doubt that pro-net neutrality has been funded by corporate monies for a long time now. Who do you think pays for all the supportive articles? Google/Amazon/ebay/etc etc etc.. Call them trade groups or lobbies or whatever you want.

It's an easy formula. Write populist articles that make it seem like the sky will fall while showing no actual law. "Save the Internet" - doom and gloom scare tactics. Both sides want the government on their side instead of a competitive open market. Corporate socialism at work.
