Yes. Yes it does. If your margins are mostly fixed at X dollars, then your profits increase as market size increases.

No, not necessarily. Looks like you are missing the subtleties of my statement. In particular I said 'have' to be smaller. The increased costs of developing, marketing, distributing and supporting a cross platform title can certainly negate the potential profits versus a single platform game.

Not only that, some games are much better suited to a single platform type, especially the PC platform. We see this in differing review scores with PC versus console games. Sometimes higher, sometimes lower...

I don't entirely buy the argument that profits from a PC exclusive game are less than cross-platform game. Sure, the market is smaller, but does that have to mean less profit? I don't think so.

It's all about getting the right combination of factors that equals success and not necessarily about making a game that will sell the most copies when doing so can often be very expensive and time consuming. Sure, saying you sold 5m copies and not 2m copies sure can boost your company's ego, but does that automatically mean more profit? Nope.

Today is the Columbus Day holiday, celebrating the explorer's "discovery" of the new world, something he steadfastly denied having done, as he was convinced he had found a new route to Asia.

There was a history channel documentary that showed how the Knights Templar discovered America in around 1362 and that Columbus received word down from that discovery (probably vague, nothing specific). The The Kensington Runestone is the proof cited, but they also covered other physical evidence. Can't remember the actual name of the documentary. I have it here somewhere.

Here's another documentary though..

What's interesting is that these Templars in 1362 were on a quest for a "New Order" which has subsequently evolved into the "New World Oder" which one can find a lot of stuff on the Internet about the latter.

Here's a good starter docu. If you get to the end of that docu, you'll learn that the stone is a land claim by what we now call the backers of the New World Order. So theoretically, they could make a legal claim towards owning a large part of the United States. Now under normal circumstances that claim would be laughed at, but with the economic collapse and the NWO's strong ties into the world's banking elite, they could theoretically push to reclaim 1/3 or so of the contiguous 48 states from a bankrupt nation.

Edit: Here's the whole History Channel Documentary titled the Holy Grail in America. Highly recommended!!! Really, learn this stuff and you'll better understand the history of not only America but the Knights Templar and the New World Order's origins.

Yay!!! Don't let the version number fool you, Project Reality is already a very polished game and this huge changelist is showing how much attention they continue to pay to this outstanding game. This weekend should be fun. Hopefully the new players will be respectful of the veterans and patient enough to learn the mod and not treat it like MW2.

So how much public funds were spent towards this? How many millions of euros? Just shows how much more powerful a force consumer choice is than this sort of government regulation.

edit: infact a 2142 style game would be heaps better - the futuristic setting allows for some really nice gameplay additions (since it doesn't have to be real world based).

Agreed I'd rather see a 2142 sequel than this. Ahh but that's more of a true Battlefield game, not a 'bad company' derp game.

Yeah nice shot! One comment in that thread claimed it was obviously photoshopped, but I have a lot of experience in PS and it looks legit to me. Can't be 100% sure though.

News Comments > On Game Prices & Inflation
4. Re: On Game Prices & Inflation Oct 6, 2010, 11:24 LittleMe

Though the prices of games look about the same as they have for years, they are only unchanged if you make like the Federal Reserve and pretend inflation doesn't exist. Taking inflation into account shows the current equivalent of 1990s prices for games from the N64 and Genesis era approaching the $100.00 USD mark.

Yes. Inflation isn't some magical mysterious force. It's simply the authorities stealing purchasing power from you by diluting the value of what you already have. This applies to all gaming, and all transactions around the world based on dollars.

The currency we use in the United States is an illegal and unconstitutional.

Back to the topic, yes, I paid $50 for games in the 1980's and I paid $50 for Civilization V. Albeit, the Civ V is tied to a Steam account and can't be resold. Revoking resale rights is a form of hidden inflation. This is all a product of central economic planning and statists who believe in or submit to tyranny, or the violence inflicted upon those unwilling to obey. Follow the money!! Do that and you'll find the true rulers of the world.

These two gameplay vids make it look very much like BC2/MW2. Notice there's NO RECOIL. It's like they're firing from a mounted platform.

That type of game gets old quick.

Yeah. Also perhaps where CivV will really shine is through the modding community.

Sweet. I used to run a game server and thoroughly enjoyed banning cheaters/griefers. I suspect Blizzard has many more cheaters out there than just 5k. How many have they sold so far? 2 million or so? Only 5 thousand cheaters? Find that difficult to believe.

This man has it right... you don't always need to market to everyone and try to make a hundred million dollars. Make a game for a specified group and make it good to great, then all those people will buy it because they don't get served that often. Smaller investment equals smaller profit, but profit all the same...

Yes and while they do that they build a good rapport with their customers which is worth a lot.

if 1C spent all their capital trying to be the next EA they might go bankrupt in 2 years.

Yeah and so very risky but suits here think this is the way to go, but it's really just a form of ego boosting to have the 'biggest and best' selling IP out there. Egos take the fun out of gaming.
