News Comments > New AMD/ATI Catalyst Reference Drivers
9. Re: New AMD/ATI Catalyst Reference Drivers Dec 14, 2010, 00:55 LittleMe

Not buggy or bloated here so far. I like the new CCC panel because it doesn't display that 3d scene which uses resources.

While game developers are busy patching games so they'll run well when everyone's gaming over the Xmas break, AMD's releasing features that no one's going to use anytime soon. DivX? What year is this? How about give us some Civ 5 performance improvements instead.

They are at the stage they are at and we don't see the whole picture. I'm glad for the new features. Oh and they do have their app signature update releases which are separate from the driver releases so check those.

I found their game more frustrating than scary. Didn't play very far (the invisible splashing monster in the water) though. Hey I love a scary immersive puzzle game but this didn't float my boat.

Sweet! I sincerely hope the new engine is as moddable as the previous games. I also hope Bethesda has learned from the modding community about what makes a better RPG. Oblivion was very promising but sorely lacking.

Does not the numerological release date speak of the occult/free masonry/etc?

this type of crime can often be the precursor to further offending in more traditional areas of online crime

Being punished for a theoretical future crime. Sounds like a Hollywood movie dystopian future.

1. Level 3 Still Insists Comcast Misleading Everyone. Dec 10, 2010, 00:54 LittleMe

Comcast is acting as if they canít handle the traffic or costs associated with it, yet Comcast has had 250GB caps for a long time

Isn't it obvious that the 250GB cap is only rarely reached and that most customers probably don't go much above ~10GB, or even less (I don't have their numbers). Just because the 250GB cap is there doesn't mean that the additional traffic wouldn't cost Comcast. It would. The 250GB cap is there for the small percentage of customers who use far and above the normal bandwidth typical customers use.

However in L3's defense, I don't see why Comcast can't just charge their own customers for the additional traffic since they aren't a backbone provider.

Here's another analysis:

http://www.digitalsociety.org/2010/12/video-level-3-versus-comcast-peering-dispute/

He said it well, this is the politicizing of the Internet.

Edit: I like this Youtube user comment in the video thread:

If Comcast had gotten Netflix's CDN business and they wanted to push a lot of content over the peering connection to Level 3, Level 3 would have asked for payment.

At the end of the day, Level 3 wants to *sell* access to Comcast's infrastructure without paying Comcast and Comcast would have done the same in reverse to Level 3 if given the opportunity. This is a business dispute and nobody should be taking any sides. No one should be able to sell someone else's infrastructure.

Seriously, one of your gameplay elements is sitting on a bench eavesdropping? Right.

I loved that part. No game I played had tried that before. It worked. It was like an interactive movie.

Beamer wrote on Dec 9, 2010, 14:42:
Lastly, the game opened with you having access to all the cool shit so there was no real anticipation of unlocking something - I knew what was out there.

Are you for real? Unlocking something? Is this what games have turned into? Chasing unlocks and getting endorphin rewards for each one? We must be mice in a lab experiment.

Beamer wrote on Dec 9, 2010, 14:42:
Bought it very cheap and still didn't get my money's worth. One of the very few games I disliked within a short period of time.

For what AC1 did, it did well. It was repetitive, yes.. But it also has some very nice elements. IMO they tried something innovative and it succeeded, but needed the refinement that AC2 brought.

I don't think this is really a new development in the news. Glad to see it getting media attention of course. There is a global child abduction slave+prostitution ring and iirc, it's connected with the UN. This is just a small part of a much bigger picture.

Gaming PCs? Probably about 3 million.

I would venture closer to 10+ million.

RTFA headline. The topic is UK console base to which I believe ASJD was saying 3+ million gaming PC's for just the UK which sounds about right if one says that any PC with a reasonably modern graphics card (past four years).

UK population is 61.2 million. 3 million gaming PC's means one in twenty Brits has a gaming PC. Sounds like a reasonable guess.

3+ million for the world population is grossly understated so he was referring to UK. 10+ million for just the UK means 1/6 Brits has a gaming PC?

Right that's what I said. There's a motive for the establishment to create fictitious and controlled cyber war where real freedoms to question them are eliminated while their power to quench dissent is expanded. The media establishment is playing their assigned role.

1. WikiLeaks Supporters With DDOS Attack. Dec 8, 2010, 13:59 LittleMe

I'm learning the the wikileaks issue is bogus, an intentional release of information. It's an Internet 9/11 designed to justify the Feds expanding their tyrannical war to the Internet. Read Cass Sundstien's 2008 paper on how they intend to silence (internet) opposition. There's apparently nothing very controversial about the information that wasn't already in the news media.
