News Comments > Max Payne Movie Plans
32. No subject Jun 28, 2005, 13:31 Sark45

James Purefoy from Resident Evil 1 should play Max Payne he looks more like Max Payne than anybody right now. Dennis Leary could do it, but he is starting to get a little old, and he would have to dye his hair black, although he is a good writer, he should write the script!

News Comments > Carmack on Game Patents
15. Carmack is very smart indeed. Jun 2, 2005, 16:22 Sark45

Carmack is spot on, software patents are not helpful at all and the whole force feedback lawsuit against Sony is indicitive of this problem. Companies that want to make good products cannot because someone 10 years ago patented some little annoying software application. I think if the people that patent these ideas don't use them, then they should lose there rights to keep that patent. There needs to be a Bill or change to the patent system that says patents do not impede invention, and a counsel or group should decide if a specific patents grant or impede invention, and decide usage. That patent arcade website is also just a blog from a tight ass lawyer! They support patenting video games WTF?!#! I think i have tried to modify almost every computer game i have ever played so am i breaking the law for using a trainer to cheat in a pc game? seems completely nuts to me. Creative just wanted Id's money because there sound card's suck, so they forced id software to comply with there really old patent and this is the result: Carmack's amazing inventiveness is shoved into a little legal box.. oh you can program this but you can't program that cause that would make creative labs sue us.. that's insane. I hope people think first before giving this Ross Dannenberg, Esq and Steve Chang esq any money or time of day, heck someone should pay for a them to take a nice vacation to the grand canyon and while these two lawyers are looking on the edge thinking about who to sue next, give them a nice push off. Sorry the legal system is messed up and these two wankers aren't helping. Microsoft was wrong for even creating that scoring patent that there article is based on. What a load of ahem crap, no-one should have ever approved their patent.
