Strange release date given that we all know that it will be at least half price in less than a month in the Steam Sale ... ah well, it gives me time to finish the first one.

That's exactly why it's not strange - we specifically did not want to release during the holiday sale, because the game would get buried pretty bad. So we compromised on the release dates (original plan was to have all versions out the same time, but of course console certification is what it is), and will now release the game in a reasonably good period, all things considered.

Trine 2 will not be on sale during the Steam holiday sale. We have some behind-the-scenes reasons for that related to consoles and fair pricing and such, and on top of that we don't really agree with this new mentality of going 75% off a few weeks after release, it's just a bit too much in my opinion (though we're certainly not against big sales in general). Trine 2 will probably follow a very different trend sale-wise than many other recent games, and we sort of hope that pays off in the long term. I guess we'll see.

And thanks everyone for the comments, glad to hear you are looking forward to the game. I hope it meets and exceeds your expectations.

- Joel, Frozenbyte team, developers of Trine 2

I was at the Frozenbyte site the other day... Checking open positions and meant to write a gushing letter...

Had run through Shadowgrounds (pure pistol baby) this past weekend, and it reminded me how much I liked the company... Loved Trine as well, even though I haven't finished yet (slacker!), and had already tried to buy it (steam didn't let me), buy I know I will soon.

Anyhow, good job, and give the rest of the team a hug for me : )

Going to be some real irate parents when they see a bill for $60 for a game on a phone. I imagine the phone companies will end up doing damage control when their support lines light up.

What about this?

If only there were a way to turn off In App purchases... oh wait...

This is no different than any other headliners to get people blaming a game/company/movie/service/etc for ignorant parenting...

Course, I can't very well use myself as an example against this, as my daughter, aged 2 or so at the time, bought Angry Birds 'for me' on my iPad... And there's that time she bought 1 year of x-box live (because we didn't know the wife's purchase from months earlier kept the card around without asking)... Got that purchase removed immediately (glad they sent me an email about it) though : )

I don't consider Blizzard "the bad guy". They are just not making a game I want to play, so I'm not buying it. No activism there. I was all over Starcraft 2 but World of Warcraft is one of my top 5 most hated games ever. It's all about the game, not the publisher.

While I disagree with your opinions... I stand behind your final statement : )

It's part of my anti-celebrity'ism... I don't care if <insert big name that's currently popular> spewed it out, I have no interest in crap (<cough>Rage<cough)), and will gobble up stuff by supposedly crappy developers/companies... Though I can't think of any at the moment : )

I would mention an Ubisoft game here if I could think of a recent one I had any interest in...

Ya know... I didn't like having the retailers linked (instead of the title) originally, but it does make it easier to just skip all the Impulse ones...

Now, if it were put into a table, so I could sort it that way, and ideally, filter it, that'd be fan-super-tastic...

That's what? 4-5 weeks for Skyrim? (Including a week or 2 of pre-orders)

Looks like Call of Duty: MW3 has shot it's wad. (Or was it Battlefield 3? I get them confused...pretty sure both were recent releases)

Almost give you hope, huh?

Hmmm... While Skyrim has lots of content... Isn't it also just 'more of the same'...

Seems to me, when someone likes something, they do want more of the same... And when hey don't, more of the same is an insult : )

Thats not true at all, people at my company took a day off the day Skyrim came out. How many 'normal' job people could do that?

I'm taking the week with the 20th off, for SWTOR... Course, it's right before the holidays (4 days PTO), and my boss is also a gamer : )

And overtime may be out the door soon.

Overtime pay may be. And it really already is in most places, if you read the original law and your state's labour laws. As far as I know it's that way in most/all provinces up here in Canada as well. IT people (which includes just about anything computer-related) are "professionals" and thus OT-exempt.

I'm occasionally envious of friends that get overtime pay, especially when it's 2x or more, but then, I remember my salary. And yes, it's a trade off... Sometimes I work long hours, or long weeks (no weekends), but it's not like you can be hired these days (ever?) where they don't warn you this may be required 'at times'.

As for game dev professionally... It was hard to justify even applying, because it would have been a multi-tens-of-thousands pay drop, even when I had a decade less experience.

And as for going indie... Just about everyone thinks it would be so 'nice n easy' to 'be the boss', but if you really want to know what 'over worked and underpaid' means, start up your own business (and this holds true for pretty much every field/industry).

$250 keyboard? $140 mouse? $130 headset? $50 dollar mouse pad? $60 client? $15 per month? Getting scammed by Lucas/EA/Bioware/Razer? Priceless...for them.

ROFLMAO. A sucker really is born every minute.

How many GW2 themed peripherals are you going to be buying?

Heh... My first thought when I read the news post was, ugh... What a waste of customers, as those not fans will stay far away (like the no chance in hell I would get a CoD/MW product), but then I am reminded by the WoW mouse I have, and the WoW headset I had.

I would like to argue that they were great products, but they weren't : ). The headset sound was great, but the mic was fucked, and the construction pretty amazingly cheap.

The mouse works fine, at least the basic typical (advanced) buttons, but the WoW specific settings/functionality were crap, so I left it off.

In the end, they weren't much more than competing products, and if I like the look of a new branded product, I would do it again.

So as for the 'scam', I don't see it... As for he hypocrisy, I can't really judge someone else with so little info (and when do you ever really have all the information about someone else).

Perhaps, but I agree with 'sc', or more accurately, what I perceive his very-much-lacking detail comment meant.

I also don't think there is anything wrong with being a one-shot-wonder and cashing out. In many ways, and not being into 'celebrityism', I think it's better...

What I did when the game came out was put a shaft all the way from my house to the bottom of the map and put 1 block platforms every few spaces so I can jump back up again. I'm hesitant to regenerate a new world to call home, since I really like that shaft. I also have access to an underground mushroom farm that I made.

I hope it was 3 units wide, with the platforms all on one side, so that you can fall all the way to the bottom(drain some water into the bottom to avoid falling damage).

Then of course you can do away with ledges when you build a grappling hook.

Wait until 1.3, which will undoubtedly having nothing in it except "Makes the game ready for the first DLC!!!11!One!1!"

Bethesda, you fucking SUCK at patching.

Creston

heh... This is too bad...

Personally, I read the list of fixes and didn't bother... I've hit a few of em (dragons that won't de-spawn, one dragon that wouldn't attack, can't think of another)...

Had like 2 crashes early on...

Considering all the bitching pre-launch about how buggy it was going to be, it's been pretty damn stable and un-buggy for me. Few minor UI issues, but I love that it's so 'keep your hands in the same spot' friendly, as someone said in an earlier thread... Course, that makes it worse for RSI, but ya'll should get up and walk around every 15m or so anyways : )

both DA and Skyrim have companions - would it be that hard to have a friend play as yours in your game and vice versa - wouldn't seem that hard to me and wouldn't even change the game any

Except, this is what Dungeon Siege III basically did, and I can still hear the ringing in my ears from the bitching...

And I guess that's a bit vague... Part of the complaint is that if you're not the 'main' controller, you get nothing 'tangible' out of it... Which is what I thought you implied, but it doesn't have to be that way... Especially in a game like Skyrim, where your level doesn't actually matter...

This comic isn't really that far from the truth... I grew up a gamer, and as a result, wanted to make them, and as a result, taught myself to code...

The sad 'reality' to the comic, is that parents often look at their children's hobbies and wonder how much $$$ that'll make... I want my daughter to be happy/fulfilled, and enjoy her career (or lack thereof), whether it's an artist, a physician, a comic book writer, or even a porn star : )

The bundle is worth it for Runespell Overture alone. It's like Puzzle Quest lite with solitaire/poker based combat. Game is short, around 5-10 hrs long but worth the price.

Is it just me but does the main character from Runespell Overture look exactly like Raziel from the Legacy of Kain series?

This made me finally click on the bundle to check it out, and I looked at the vid for Runespell, and my initial reaction was 'holy fuck' (aka 'yes')... But it's also not exactly a unique look... rags... hidey face... claws... blue/purple skin..

I'm a big fan of the Soul Reaver series (and a few Kain ones aren't bad)... I'd always hoped that Silicon Knights got a big fat cheque for starting that, even if I liked it much better after the first.

Only February?

Pretty much done with Skyrim... Got my second char through a lot of the stuff I skipped on the first...

SWTOR at the end of the year, and most of Jan... I figure I'll be bored of it around Feb some time... Nothing else really on the horizon for me...

Can't imagine Dead Space will take more than a week or so for the duo...

All the future stuff coming out is no time soon...
