They increased the feeling the game is like being at work, with grinding out less 'take home' gold due to excessive repair costs from wear and tear from mob killing. Pre-1.03, I might have had one drop that was better than what was on the AH. Then patch 1.03 lowered the drop rate of rare items as well, making it more likely you have to go to the AH for gear.

Uhm... What?

1.03 drop rates increased (unless you're only doing 5 packs and a boss runs, but that's far too boring to comment on : ), and better gear is available earlier...

Minus the apparent Act III/IV drop rate bug (which I don't believe targets rares), that's being fixed this week.

Boohoo some more? Fuck that.

To be honest, as a life long D2 player (and d1 for that matter); i honestly think that most of the crying is from people "thought" that they were going to be in to the game for year to come; the truth is though they are just casual action RPG fans.

If a game gave you over 100 hours fun; regardless of long term appeal; it was proabably worth the money.

I am still playing - all tho now down to a few days a week (inf solidy on farm), still enjoying the game and dont mind the balance changes at all. my mate was bitching about repair cost, so we did a act1/2 run in inf. we made litterally well over 700k in gold - post repair bills. what. the. f. is the problem.

As a counter to this, which I think is valid for yourself, and myself... Is that while you can have these results, that doesn't mean the general populace does, and that's who is complaining...

For me, the day 1.03 came out, I found Act II challenging, and was having a great time... The next day, it felt like there was a stealth nerf, because I was doing badly... And silly me, still thinking the Blacksmith might be useful, spent my last 200k on some 5-stat belts (dropped recipe), and then died a bunch of times in Act II, and didn't have enough for repairs...

So here's what I did... I logged into the D3 forums, and wrote up a nice long post (in my own thread, because surely there weren't enough before that) bitching about how much the change sucked and blah blah... </sarcasm>

What I actually did, was run through Act I again, and netted a similar amount... I also got like 50 rares, which most were garbage, but that's a genre thing, not a D3 thing : ) The big money maker for me, however, was giving up on the BS... lvl 60 gear is worth 1.5-2.5k vended... So 48 or so of those rares made me about 100k, and the collected gold was another few hundred... Now I'm 'sitting pretty'...

Btw, for 'full disclosure', I once had 1 mil gold, but have never had the crapton that people seem to think everyone else has : ) I don't buy expensive shit on the AH (though expensive is relative - my highest, and only one time, was about 300k).

If you're having trouble getting through Act II Hell without using the AH then the problem was not the game, it was you.

Agreed.

Like WoW starts at Level Cap, Diablo 3 starts at Inferno. Or used to.

That's some elitist braggart bs right there. "durrr-yup, da game starts at da end! That's how it's supposed to be...noob!"

Reminds me of that dude that beat hardcore inferno the other day and listening to his shit, you just know that guy lives alone. lol

This post gets my vote for most ironic of the year...

Anyways...

For a lot of people, WoW and D3 start at max level... Personally, I enjoy levelling, so that's a big part of either game for me... However, now that I've played D3 at 60, levelling (or more accurately, the collecting of phatty lewts) is less fun, because it's all going to be vended (or AH'd) at some point...

But the argument could be made for Inferno gear, even ilvl 63 stuff; It just may last longer.

Plus, there's the whole difficulty factor... I thought D3 scaled well (starting about mid nightmare, IIRC), and even Inferno Act I... Act II seemed extreme, but that was the point, so that's fine. Now that Inferno is nerfed, the difficulty curve evened out, and it's more challenging (and less stupid-hard/spiked). But the point is, Inferno is where 'the real game' starts for people that want the challenge... Or like to farm gear for ages, which admittedly, is more fun with a full stack of NV than in previous games (in the genre).

Anyhoo... I'm still enjoying it. My friends are still enjoying it. They haven't done much Inferno and considering how much they stand in the poo, I'm thinking they're going to have a hard time with it (when my OP Barbie isn't there).

I disagree. Regardless though, they agreed not to trademark it. So if it hits it big, someone could easily make a flash version of a similar game and call it the same.

http://www.scrollsguide.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=567 for a 12 min video of a full match... So at least that portion of the game is viewable (assuming it'll have other portions, which seems unlikely)...

Bring on some Etherlords III : ) With or without RMAH... : )

Looks like a combination of Heroes of M&M and Magic: The Gathering to me...

I don't see any of HOMM in there... I assume you (and others) are saying that because it uses a hex grid (like thousands of other games heh)... But none of the video had any kind of unit control...

It looks, to me, like MTG... You have your summoned mobs, and when you have things attack, they're either blocked (by other mobs in that line), or they get to the back row (which in MTG is the player), which is a wall/fence...

As long as the battles are interesting (Etherlords) without too much stupid complexity (MTG), and the out-of-card-combat game is also fun; maybe even hex-terrain like (HOMM, Etherlords, Kings Bounty), I may have interest... You may have noticed, I liked Etherlords (II), and would like a sequel to that style.

Edit: Just read through the Game info page, and it looks less interesting now... So much for marketing hype... I'm not seeing anything new to the genre...

That is spot on. I can't remember the last time I called in or contact a company via e-mail and received a prompt sensible response. The tech support/help line/customer support in this country has gone to shit. It was never great... but comparing five or so years ago to today's standard... back then, it was stellar. I'm not just talking about computer software tech support. Everything from ordering services from a local provider (cable/Internet/phone) to applying for unemployment (not me). I hear it from almost every customer I visit and pretty much anyone else I talk to that had to call somebody for support concerning a service or product. Yet, these businesses wonder why the public hates them?

Back on topic. I've been out of town most of the past month and a half so I am finally thinking about opening my CE D3. Though I am hesitant to do so.

Don't open it , just sell it on ebay to some collector and buy the standard edition , because its all about the RMAH in this game so no need for collector edition version

Interesting... what games have a need for a 'collector edition version'?

uestion for you Diablo addicts. I'm playing hard now and as of midway through act 1 I no longer have enough money to repair anything nor do I have ANY piece of armor or a weapon that is not broken.

How the fuck do I get money to fix shit when I'm naked fighting with my fists?

Remind me not to play this drunk again. [/quote:

So I'll just assume I'm screwed here? I really don't see any reason for me to keep playing this at this point. Stupid liquor.

There are a few options here, though you may like none...

One is to go back to an earlier part of the game and farm enough for the repair bill... I'm not sure that would be any fun, except that there's already an achievement for doing it on boss fights...

Two is to have someone else carry you in an MP game...

Three is that since your gold is shared across characters, start up a new one (or play an already mid lvl one).

Edit: Oh and sign the petition about the repair costs... Petitions always work...

To be more precise, I think what they see is 'There are no problems with online only' : ) Like when a gaming company (let's say Blizzard) says that they would like to add 'this' feature, and a year later, when the game launches, people scream that they didn't get what was promised...

So. We're in completely defensive gear and builds, not getting drops and can't progress past Act 2. It's just horrible game design. I'm sure I could grind gold for a few days and go BACK to the AH and possibly buy some better gear, but honestly it's just not fun anymore. It's one thing to grind out Act 1-4 through all the difficulties, at least the scenery changes. Now we're stuck grinding Act 1 over and over, for seemingly no reward for our time. Bleh, I'm just done.

I'm really bummed to hear that dude, I know you're a pretty patient guy too. I don't know if its any help at this point but I might have some extra Barb gear on my DH. I agree that the game is pretty rough for melee though, it takes a massive investment on the AH just to do content that ranged can do in cheap, lower level gear.

I'm actually having a much easier time on my Barb than my Wiz... But then, gear is always an issue... on Monday, I could progress, slowly, on either, but wasn't doing enough to make it worth it... As of last night, I had a 'too easy' time on the Barb in the first half of Act II (with a few good, challenging fights'), and the second half is getting hard (I agree with the snakes comment earlier - was one of my harder combo's - most have been 0 to 1 death).

As for stats, I'm at 8.6k DPS base, 40k health, ~350 resists... Uhm... what else matters? Some elite/champ fights are long (Wrath helps), but a lot of them weren't a threat (30% revenge is fun to mash : ).

As for gear not dropping... I'm not sure what the 'better' alternative is... I've always hated farming for gear... especially in a system so random, but that aspect of the genre hasn't changed in 15 years... Maybe if they'd stuck with their one set of gear for Inferno, the implicit difficulty increases along the acts would have been better for a lot of people... Now that you have a single act to 'fully' gear up instead of an entire difficulty, it requires too much repetitition : )

Really? Comments like that are no better than Wallshadows.

I've seen nothing but anger over this patch, from EVERYONE, and it's well deserved. They overreacted with the changes in many areas instead of focusing on dealing with the real cause of the problem(s).

Even bigger irony is, the only people that can afford to run Inferno now, ARE the bot farmers.

Not everyone... I'm loving this patch...

Act II Inferno, for my Barb, when from stupid hard to challenging, and it's great... I still die on some stuff, but only when I get stuck, or some other bad timing issue...

Repair costs seem a bit extreme, but I'm still making gold, and having more fun in Inferno (Act II) than ever... Pre-1.0.3, I really enjoyed the ramp up for Act I, but now I'm eagerly looking forward to Act III.

Edit: Oh and I'm getting more rares than ever... Sure, 90% of them are still garbage, but the mats helped me make a pretty nice (200 dex, 100 vit, regen, etc) belt for my future Inferno Monk... After I found the recipe to make it btw... 5 random stats : ) Anyone wants to roll the dice, it's about 45k gold and a bunch of blue/yellow/tomes.

The Dell Inspiron All-In-One offers a 27" screen with the same rez as the iMac.

As for the iMac, Apple sent a clarification stating that the MacPro would be seeing its update in 2013... right after the outcry when the exec said MacPro and iMac.

So some are taking that correction to mean iMac in 2012.

And some are taking it to mean iMac in 2014

Dell also has a 27" standalone monitor with the same guts as the apple cinema dsiplay (or whatever it's called,) minus the apple pricetag/tax

What apple pricetag/tax we talking about here?

I get that people like to complain apple prices are bloated, when comparing a shitty piece to a high end piece, but the 27" dell monitor is $999 (here), and the apple one is $999 (http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC007LL/A)...

Otherwise, why not just say "wait for a 27" IPS Monitor"

Hence the Dell AiO
