I like it, and I'd say the more time I spend with it, the more I like it...think the only thing holding me back from buying it is the disconnect issue... Well if you can, try what I suggested... also... ya know how installation programs always say close everything then run it, we always ignore that? Try running WoW with 'nothing' going in the background... Especially network related stuff of course. Azureus used to blow up my connection every few minutes... and running mIRC beside it was horrible.
Human mage is cool... I think my very first char (at launch) was human mage. Named Alamar : ) However, you're much better off making an Orc Warlock... On Zul'jin... : )
Why orc? OMFG their racial is amazing... Blood fury... great for melee and casters... Some scary shit sometimes...

Ya their weekly maintenance is Tuesday mornings... Though for the last month, it's been more a non-issue as they instituted some live weekly maintenance (meaning servers only need a reboot instead of the ~6 hour block of downtime... Should be back at 11am PST, 2pm EST.
How you liking it so far, and what race/class you playing?

I'm been playing a 10 day trial of WOW, and I get "Disconnected from server" at least 3-4 times an hour, sometimes in less than 2 minutes... I used to have this same problem with City of Heroes WAY the hell back... I ran a positron (or was it synapse...) TF one time where I couldn't stay logged in long enough to do anything after finishing buffs (Speed Boost FTW!!!). I'd drop... try to get back in, rebuff, drop... heh Gawd it sucked... but I was able to stay in the game during the AV fight and got my SO...
As for how it was eventually fixed... No idea... had nothing to do on my end (seemingly)... Pretty sure I had also tried updated drivers, etc... It's possible they fixed it on their side, and this is likely because they did make some netcode improvements AFAIK.
Don't really have any suggestions on how to get this resolved, but like any PC problem, it can be caused by a few of a million things... And it's quite likely, it'll just fix itself (so ta speak).
Ok I do have suggestions... Try your PC at a friends place that has a different ISP... Try a diff server, like Zul'Jin (horde), where you can say hi to Skane (Undead Rogue) : )
Anyways... G'luck... I know how insanely annoying constant disconnects are, and I hope it's resolved soon ; )
If you do happen to find out what's wrong, but your 10 day trial is up, or some shit, lemme know... I have extras, or if you have another email addy, you can just get the referral one set up (again) : )

so dont give me that "irrational is blameless - its all the publisher" bullshit.. thats a fucking retarded argument Not so elegantly put, but quite right... I missed out on the pleasures of bluesnews (and the forums) for months, but I see I came back to the same old bitching...
1) 'This game is shit, but it's the publishers fault, because they made the devs release it too early'... Too early... Like around the date the developer signed a contract to have it finished? I bet if you signed a contract and the other party didn't live up to it, you'd do something about it too : )
2) 'You're a fanboy, so your opinion doesn't matter'... Simply put, when someone likes a game you don't, they're a fanboy, so you don't have to dispute their claims/opinions.
3) 'This game, that hasn't come out yet, that I haven't played or seen more than handful of screenies/comments/previes sucks... Don't waste your money'... I mean sure, this is a forum... It's about offering opinions, but really... I know you're bored, but why flap your yap about stuff you know nothing about?
Ok, so I guess I'm done with that rant...
As for BioShock... I don't care about the Q&A's and comments and FAQ's n shit... I may read some... I may get some hype going... But I'm just gonna try the damn game when it comes out (I also loved SS/SS2, so I'm really hoping it's as kickass).

So much of the media sucks. They'll do whatever is necessary to score and sell a story, because let's face it - it's their job. 'News' is just a form of entertainment like any other...
This is also why I don't watch the news, read the newspaper, or really care about the over hyped shit that goes on 'out there'... Blues is the only 'news' site I browse...

The seige bot is so powerful that once you can make this unit you need almost nothing else. Thanks for the info...
Not entirely related, but this reminds me of Spellforce 2. Not that it's unusual... even the first RTS, as soon as you could make the big guns, that's all you needed. But anyhow; in Spellforce 2, you would eventually get to a point where you could make a Titan (only 1 at a time I believe), but it was a massive creature, both in size and strength, that'd you'd just ignore all your other non-hero units and run around with this bad boy kicking some serious ass : ) Good times : )
That game needs to hurry up and release an expansion...
Anyways... Supreme Commander... A month away... Here's hoping I don't start hyping : ) I expect I'll grab it launch day, even without a demo, for no more than nastalgia. I can do this because of all the money I save playing massives : ) And so few games came out in 2006 that weren't shit...

My main gripe about the game is that tier 2 and 3 bring less variety and more massed attacks with the same unit. At tier 2 getting overrun by gunships was common and if you made it to tier 3 all you had to make was the seige bot. Mind offering up some info on what you mean by T2/T3? We talking tech trees? Unit upgrades?

I asked and they said they hadn't gotten any Wii's since before Christmas, but were expecting some in later this month. Heh... This made me think about all the fun I've had with stores, mostly EB over the years... I call or go in and ask if they got a game in yet... They say 'not yet, but it's coming in tomorrow'... It's a canned response that I get the following day... oh the joys of retail...

Gold... |

Always boggles my mind that some companies announce gold and the game is on shelves a week later, and others announce gold and it won't be available for a month...
I haven't been hyping about this game... So that's good, but I really enjoyed the original TA (until I played online)... I had a lot of fun just running around the map with my commander using it's hugely overpowered cannon... Until I accidentally hit the enemy's commander with it heh.

Lag and queue problems could be mitigated if Blizzard would offer to duplicate characters from your main (Zuljin in my case, Blackhand for you) to a chosen alt server. But think of all the money they'd lose... Paid character transfers... Bah... not bloody likely...
So Zul'jin... You Horde or Alliance?

Wouldn't it be great if Blizzard made a Blackthorne sequel? Hey... another older person heh...
Ya Blackthorne was pretty cool, though I preferred.. uhm... That other one around the same time... That I can't seem to recall the name of... Out of this world was kind of neat too, though a bit more finicky.

First Page!
heh... inside joke...
So when I saw the price of the expansion (same as any game), I was pretty damn disappointed... I play this game again, and I will most likely head out tomorrow morning to pick up the expansion, because, really... What else am I gonna spend that money on? : )
I'm looking forward to the new content... Quests, stories, etc... Not making a Blood Elf Paladin, or a Dranei (sp?) Shaman, but I'm curious what those initial 20 lvls are going to be filled with. Some of the starting zones are fun (Undead), and some are shit (Night Elf)... Here's hoping the new ones are juicy : )

I really enjoyed the Titan Quest experience, and I'm all for an expansion, but 8 more classes? Like, 8 new skill/spell trees? That just seems like quite a bit... And that they should spend their time elsewhere... Course if it was 2 new classes, people'd be like... bah... 2... that's not enough : )
Hope they add a little more balance to the classes... Some combo's can be insanely overpowered (Fire/Nature), and others are pretty damn shitty at some points... I personally enjoyed the Rogue, Spirit, Warfare, Defense... and actually most of them had some good stuff... Can't recall what duo's I had tho... Rogue/Warfare I think... Storm/Def... Good times...
Anyways... chances are this'll be an immediate purchase as it hits shelves.
Could be the dream mastery system is just presitge classes for the 8 base classes... Still, with some new skills, it should be cool.
Wonder what mythology they're gonna go with for 'act 4'.

This was on my september to-play list... Was disappointed it was pushed... Wonder when the demo is.
Wow that's a really crappy site... No useful info in sight... The official game site is http://www.dirtthegame.com/ which doesn't have enough info, and I still don't see a demo mention...

Re: No levels |

How do you play a game with no levels? Skill based gaming. Your character gets better at whatever you do.
Lets use Hulk as an example, he gets better and better at his superjumping as he uses it. How long it takes to max out his skill, would vary depending on how complicated the skill was. So removing levels from a game means... adding levels to the skills instead? So that you grind away your jump (mash mash mash mash mash that space bar)... Sure sounds exciting to me...
And that is PRECISELY how I was introduced to UO... "Hey... stand over here and swing your weapon at this dummy until your skills are maxed"... Yay fun : P
