Hmm, have you played ArmAII since 1.05 patch? The engine is one of the best there is, from physics to gfx. It's a sim game afterall, so there is a lot going on with the engine.

Are you delirious? The "physics engine" is a complete joke and the graphics is far behind most games. The HDR implementation is wack, the LOD system is wack, and the overall performance is just crap. The physics and graphics of the Arma engine just doesn't compare to CryEngine2/3, idTech5, the engine behind BC2 (can't remember the name off hand), etc. Every one of these engines could render the large distances the Arma engine does but do a hell of a better job.

This game still has a lot of bugs that make the game either unplayable or just act goofy. One thing that annoys me that's still broken is the bug where you lose all of your gear after a few seconds in water. The gameplay is just plain fragile and half the time, or more, the mission can't continue due to a broken trigger/etc.

Maybe a lot of the game's and engine's problems are not as noticeable in multi player, I don't know as I only play single player. But overall, their engine is FAR FAR from one of the best.

My biggest complaint of BIS games, besides the moronic AI, is the game play is just too fragile. It's almost a miracle if a mission actually does what it's supposed to do instead of some trigger or something breaking putting the game in this limbo where you can't progress, just walk around.

Then of course there's the performance. Their engine is just so damn inefficient. The "HDR" implementation is a pure POS. It's so irritating that you'll have times things are over bright and other times where it's too dark and this affects the night vision goggles in a really bad way. NVGs are so unrealistic in this game as they pretty much are worthless unless there's a lot of light sources around, which is lame because in that case you won't even need them.

I still think they should go to a better engine, like CryENGINE 3 or something. But it's really too bad no one else has the balls to make this kind of game. BIS is the only one which makes it pretty easy to be the "best military sim of 20xx" when they're the only one. So I do give them credit for not jumping on the path everyone else is of making bland, short, linear console kiddie games.

Looks like it's time for me to buy L4D2. $20 + The Passing is a pretty nice deal.

The iPad mini is supposed to be in the same market as the Archos 5 Internet Tablet and the Dell mini. They're bigger than iPod touches but not quite as big as normal tablets (iPad, Slate, etc).

I played with the iPad at Best Buy for a good 30 min the other day. It's everything good about the iPod touch (which I like a lot) but better in some ways due to the larger screen. Racing games for instance are a lot more fun since you can actually see stuff. I have a iPad 3G on order. I'm far from an Apple fan boy, I hate Apple A LOT for the most part, but I do like some of their things to an extent.

It's a shame Apple has to be such communists though. That iPad Dashboard app looked pretty cool. Good thing I'm a dev and can compile and add it myself.

Of course, the Apple TV was not a huge success.

I did have a 32GB iPad 3G on pre-order, but I canceled it to wait to see what happens with the HP Slate. If it does have 3G like I read about and IF the plan is just as good as the iPad 3G plan (unlimited data for $30/month no contract) then I want the Slate for sure (it's much more useful anyway). But, if the 3G plan does not meet my requirement or if it turns out not to have 3G at all then I'll go to the iPad 3G again.

Not a true C&C game + having to be online at all times and if your connection hiccups just one small amount you're screwed = me not buying.

Even STEAM allows offline play. This is just lame.

Leave it to EA to screw up a good thing. I'm glad Rage is no longer in EA's hands. That was worrying me.

Perhaps Nvidia should just start making graphics cards exclusively for Apple since they're pushing to make hardware proprietary and incomparable.

lolwut? One of the more ignorant comments so far... Good job.

"they’re doing it because they’re paid to do it."

Typical AMD/ATI propaganda BS. That statement, like 99% of theirs, is not true at all. AMD/ATI isn't doing jack for graphics and gaming. Nothing worthwhile anyway. They continue to play catchup to NVIDIA and at the same time spread BS to discredit them.

AMD/ATI has words, NVIDIA has solutions/products. Period.

I have a feeling Alan Wake is going to end up a turd with all the delays and changes made along the way. It's not going to end up being what it was supposed to be. Plus with no PC support, screw it.

Jeez, that's alot of god damn DRM, good thing I'm getting this on Xbox 360.

That's exactly what they want. They know that DRM and all this crap is worthless and people hate it. They're not that dumb. But, they keep on and on with this until they kill off PC gaming by converting everyone over to the console. The piracy problem will not be solved, but it sure will be a lot less since it is harder to do on the console than the PC. Especially when it comes to multiplayer.

While I have all the consoles and a good number of games, I'm still a PC gamer and always will be. I hate what the current consoles and the corporate greed has done to the gaming industry, especially the PC side. It also does not help that gaming has become all mainstream. I hate that as well. Games used to be so deep and involved which was great. They came with huge instruction manuals. Now, they're lame kiddie hold-my-hand worthless crap that blinds so many in thinking it's a good game by using Hollywood style cinematics and flashy stuff when really it's shallow and forgettable. Very few modern games are not like that. Very few.

What you say doesn't make much sense. This is not about the Unreal game. It's about their engine which powers A LOT of games not called "Unreal." Just because the engine is called Unreal Engine doesn't mean it's tied to the Unreal game and story.
