I'm most concerned about them steering away from the original's sim roots. It just makes no sense to do this. OFP fans expect a hardcore sim, not CoD or some BS crap like that. If that's what they want to make then they can just do it and call the game something else.

Who's ever decision it is to take the game's sim history away needs to be kicked in the bags.

I can say straight up that I will not be fooled again like I was with Dragon Rising. Chance of me buying this crap = 0%.

The gaming industry is being taken over by complete idiots.

They should use the Quake 1 engine. Old School software rendering FTW! It would be cheaper to license too.

Dead wrong. Corruption at its finest. I said it before, they need more than a ban. They need Homeland Security to come knocking on their doors for hacking into systems they have no business hacking into. Technically, they are not hacking into systems, or are they? If they are using code that effects my system as well (the hack), isn't that hacking my system? Time to take off the gloves, call the FBI on the IPs...let them track this crap down. Sometimes all it takes is a little spankage...

I'd rather the FBI focus on something important, thank you...

I don't see this engine looking any better than Crysis or Frostbite.

Plus the Unreal engine lacks destructible environment, open world ability and best in the business nature scenes(god I love Crysis tropics).

Frankly, after all the crap Unreal engine issues we on PC have had to fix every game, I wish this engine would die and fade away.

Actually UE3 does have destructible environments by utilizing NVIDIA's APEX.

From the UDK site:

NVIDIA APEX Support

* NVIDIA APEX technology enables artists to quickly generate physically simulated clothing and destructible environments. For more information on APEX, please visit: http://developer.nvidia.com/object/apex.html

Hopefully this time around the character you play (as well as some you interact with) is actually like-able. I HATED the character you play as in GTA4. For me it really brings the game down which is too bad b/c it was a good game (still never beat it though) otherwise.

On the other hand John Marston in RDR was very like-able and the other characters were cool as well.

The Advocate wrote on Mar 7, 2011, 10:49:
This sucks. I buy Hitachi drives because they have a stellar reliability record in everything I have deployed them in. Western Digital drives have always been junk, barely above the crap that Seagate shovels in to a box.

Guess I'll be giving Samsung a shot.

I have the exact opposite experience. Recently out of 3 2TB Hitachi drives I bought, ONE works. The other two were DOA. I've not yet had an issue with WD drives which I have several of right now. WD buying Hitachi's HD unit is very good news to me.

I've always liked WD, Seagate and Maxtor drives. I would like a Samsung SSD though for my OS drive.

It seems I'm not the only one with Hitachi 2TB 7200RPM drive issues. I've seen quite a lot of negative reviews on this drive on newegg and elsewhere. Hitachi's quality control seems to have been slipping so it does not surprise me they're selling to WD.

The term is grifter, Romero has stolen more money using id software in his bio then anyone in the history of video games, he almost never delivers, and if he does it horrible. Why is he doing this well the dumbest money availble to him is Social Gaming venture funding, he only made that tweet to indicate that he will attempt to steal more money in the future for a high end PC title if he can.

Obviously you don't have a clue what the word stolen means. WTF?

I still don't understand why there's so much hate for this guy. He's done more for gaming then any of these haters could ever dream of doing.

The make you his bitch thing, as he has said many times, was not his idea and he originally did not want to do it. But he was talked into it and very much regretted it later. There's a somewhat recent interview with him on youtube where he talks about this yet again.

id's best games was when he was around and his levels were the best ones. He also created the editors for all games up to quake. Romero + Carmack made the best team.

I just honestly don't see what's so bad about this guy. I like him more than most game devs out there by far.

Haters gonna hate I guess (which is all their ignorant minds can do).

Wow, this was about as gay as a gay porno, and it doesn't get much gayer than that.

A more fitting song would probably be "Tip Toe Through the Tulips" by Tiny Tim. LOL

10. Re: Operation Flashpoint: Red River in April Feb 17, 2011, 19:25 SirKnight

It's sad to see codemasters drag down the OFP name. The first one was so awesome that I still play it. I rank it above about 90-95% of the newer stuff in the past decade. Of course it was developed by a team that truly knows and wants ultra realism.

But Dragon Rising, while it had a few good moments, overall was a disgrace to the OFP name. I don't expect Red River to achieve the greatness of Cold War Crisis or Arma but I do hope it is at least a little better and less bland than Dragon Rising.

Codemasters should just give the OFP name back to BIS or GTFO. TBH I hate the name Arma. It just sounds stupid. But the game itself is what OFP really should be so it's all good.

You can't reason with the paranoia, you might loose revenue, which is epidemic at many gaming companies. Which often leads to exact that thing, you feared might happen. You will loose revenue.

Yeah tight revenue FTW!

Frankly if they care about the PC they can go so far as to remove the 'press start to begin the game' notice at the start.

OMG I hate that so much! I don't see much of a point of that kind of begin screen on the console but it is especially lame on the PC. Like with Test Drive Unlimited 2 where it has that press start to begin screen yet THERE IS NO START BUTTON ON A KEYBOARD!!!! Mafia 2 has the same kind of screen but at least they say press ENTER. Still annoying though.

What's really lame is when the PC version will have xbox 360 buttons next to things. Bah.

Game menus these days suck.

I have a bad feeling that Crytek will skip out on PC versions from now on considering their constant blabbing about PC piracy like it doesn't exist any where else.
