That last one was just plain wrong. That actually is a real file navigation program on SGI IRIX machines called fsn (I have an SGI O2 btw), not a flight simulator. There's nothing wrong with it when it's a legit program already in existence before JP. Of course, it was just experimental, but still.

There's a linux clone of fsn (called fsv) and I suddenly have the urge to add oculus rift support to it. Then we'd have true 90's virtual file navigation!

I gave this a go and like TF2, it's pretty awesome looking at things up close. Objects really do feel like they are there and you can grab them.

I played at a point near the end where you're in the room with Breen, Alex, Eli and Judith. I could look around me and it felt like I could grab a hold of the basket thing Gordon is in. It also felt like I could punch Breen in the head as he appeared to be right there.

It's still sad when some people continue to go on about the Rift's low res and other issues. The thing is made for developers so these things don't matter at all. But there's always those that are always grumpy about everything (sooooo many of them here on BluesNews sadly) and will bitch, moan, and complain no matter what.

Really? Cereal? Glad I didn't buy one of these.

I don't quite get your point. The current Rift is a DEVELOPERS kit, not meant to consumers. So unless you're a developer, there is no point in having one. You act like the rift was some kind of scam.

And what do you mean by cereal?

I hope they move away from the Far Cry setup for the next one and just do a linear shooter because thats where the game really shines.

Oh God no. That's the LAST thing we need is more rail shooters. What made Far Cry 3 great was the side-missions and exploration. The sandbox part of it. We do NOT need more CoD style game-play.

I just don't see the point in Ouya. Android phones and tablets support game pads, HDMI (at least tablets, not sure about phones) so if you want to play them on your TV it's quite easy. Also, the games you already bought on Android Play can not be used on the Ouya, you have to re-buy them IF they are even available on there.

Plus, it has been shown that the Ouya is a lot slower than most phones and tablets that's out there now and have been around for quite a while.

The Ouya is one big pointless failure.

Unless it's as big as Skyrim, I don't see this as a full price game if this is true. I don't see myself paying a full $50/60 for it that's for sure.

MP is what made RtCW so great. I liked the SP a lot, but MP was awesome. Not having anything like that is just so lame.

If Skyrim is your benchmark for paying full price, you won't ever buy a game at launch. There hasn't been a game as big as Skyrim since Skyrim.

I think you misunderstood. I'm talking about a game with SP ONLY. I pay $60 for plenty of games, but they all have MP. A game with only SP is half a game as far as I'm concerned. Thus, not worth full price...UNLESS it's huge and has a lot of replayability (like Skyrim or similar, doesn't have to be exactly like that but somewhat).

1. Re: Bill Gates: iPad users are frustrated because they "can't type, can't create documents". May 7, 2013, 10:13 SirKnight

Heh, just because Office is not on the iPad suddenly you can't type or create documents. Like Office is the only way to do that. lol! Microsoft...bunch of has-beens.

Typing on an iPad is no different than a Surface, plus you can link a BT keyboard to it if you want. There's also more than one document creation app for the iPad. While they may not have all the features of a full PC version of Office (most of which are really useless anyway) it does contain enough to get the job done 90% or more of the time.

The Oculus Rift and DCS oughta be a match made in heaven, but I imagine there are at least two ways the Rift needs to improve first. 1) Needs the higher resolution planned for the consumer version. 2) Needs proper head translation tracking so you can lean in to look more closely at certain controls or displays in the cockpit or to look outward properly for that gun run.

Both of those are definite plans for the consumer version, and maybe even an upgrade to the current dev kit or dev kit 2.0.

I just got my Rift today. Pretty cool, but too bad Valve broke TF2.

I'd really like a future Rift to have an even bigger FOV. 110 deg is not bad, but it gives you a tunnel vision feel. 180 deg should be the minimum for true immersive VR so I can see stuff in the corner of my eyes. Perhaps some of those crazy flexible displays would help with this.

While I like the western genre, BiB was a carbon copy of CoD. Completely 100% linear, heavily scripted, auto aim and very obvious it was a console port. It was really Call of Duty: Old West Warfare.

PC Manufacturers Say Windows 8 Has Driven Millions To Become Apple Users.

Man I knew it was bad with casual users but that bad? Wow. Ironically most of the enthusiasts seem to have stayed with Windows 7 or figured out how to disable Dumbtro and made peace with Windows 8. I guess casual users just didn't find it very desirable, certainly not enough to stop seeking the Apple brand.

It is so easy do disable Metro,

go in regedit

go to : HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Double-click the key labeled: RPEnabled

then change the value from 1 to 0

and voila !!!

Dont even know why so many people are bitching about windows 8 its the same freaking os than windows 7 (when you reg edit Metro)

That doesn't even work any more. That was ONLY for the developer version a year or more ago.

The "Magic Mouse" is trash, and all the scroll bars are tied to it (they disappear when you stop moving your finger on it). The scroll bars also cover files on the sides and bottom. Also, just putting your hand on the thing causes all kinds of mayhem. You can disable the swipe functions, but that breaks some basic navigation.

You can easily keep the scroll bars turned on in the settings so they don't disappear. Also, I don't know what kind of crazy stuff your hand is doing, but my magic mouse never does bad things when my hand is on it. The mouse works just as good, if not better in some cases, than any other mouse.

I have no earthly idea where you get that the latest OSX is a complete mess. I'd much rather use OSX than Win8. And no, I'm not an Apple fanboy either. I use Windows, OSX and Linux the same.

What I've noticed time and time again, the OSX bashers/haters just simpley don't know how to use the OS worth a damn and also have little clue about UNIX. Thus, they bash/hate it. For me, it's no issue at all. I can do just as much on OSX as I can on Windows or Linux. But I'm a software engineer, so I don't just use a few programs and call it a day. I have to know quite a bit about how a particular system works.

I don't see Wolfenstein. It must be "limited vocabulary" to make that association.

Just because you can't see why some think it's Wolfenstein does not mean you need to look down your nose at them like you actually know what's going on. This attitude of "I don't agree with all of you so that makes you dumb and wrong" is horse-shit.

You are also ignoring the fact they said flat out that it's NOT fallout.
