Don't know anything about that particular TV (57"?? My GOD) but I went through all of this a couple of months ago when I got my first HDTV. $1,800 does seem like a very good deal. It's as much as I paid for my 37" 1080p LCD. You probably know about these but check out High Def Forum and and the AV Forum:
http://www.highdefforum.com http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=9
They were both invaluable to me in making my choice. Amazon.com probably has a better price. I bought an LCD from them and then changed my mind after it had shipped and I was able to return it for a full refund, no shipping charge. Amazon's good.

So bizarre. Someone called me perspicacious only yesterday. It was the first time I'd heard the word (though I think I've seen it in print) and asked what it meant.
This was just yesterday. Synchronicity is spooky.

I'll be making the plunge myself fairly soon. I finally got myself a beautiful HDTV and now I need cable or something to get all the great HDTV shows. I haven't had cable in years and years. Spent a long time looking at the different providers and DirecTV turns out to be the best.
It's a shame it doesn't work with Tivo anymore though.

Looks awesome. Downloading now. There was another redneck-themed shooter released not too long ago. As I have very fond memories of Redneck Rampage I downloaded the demo and found it unplayable. But it was engine and control issues (crappy graphics I can handle). This is based on an established engine and control scheme so I expect thast won't be the issue.

It's pretty hilarious, I love it. Conservapedia, The Half Hour News Hour (Fox News' conservative answer to the daily show) ... there are just some things conservatives need to give up on. They have talk radio all to themselves--liberals can't do that for some reason--but they need to give up on science and satire.

"a team to focus on the PC user's needs." That sounds like a bunch of bullshit. Especially since "both versions will be exactly the same." Cynical old me. It occurs to me a team can be made up of just one person. Working part time. Nah, Irrational wouldn't be THAT nasty.

It'll be an open city by the time you're almost finished, but then what's the point going back to old areas? (levels) Resources. In System Shock 2 anyway. You might remember a vending machine from a previous level with something you needed. Or a healing machine with more points left on it.
I doubt it will be this way in Bioshock but in System Shock 2 I used previous levels to store all the extra crap I couldn't fit into my inventory. I'd choose a safe area right by the elevator and stack all my shit up on the floor. Then I new where it was when I needed it. I'd just pop down the elevator. Somehow I don't think Bioshock's inventory system will work the same way, but who knows.

If they're not completely full of crap like Bethsoft, we should be ok, cept for the low res textures. Are low-res vs. high-res textures an issue with the XBox 360? It definitely was for the XBox but XBox 360 has more memory. Maybe we'll be OK there. My biggest concern is map size and load zones. Ken addressed that saying the size of the maps was just fine, but I never believe anything anymore ...

I've heard great things about BSG, not sure why I haven't caught up with that I used to love BSG. I dunno, seems to have jumped the shark to me.
My schedule: - Heroes - Ugly Betty - Desperate Housewives - Simpsons, Family Guy, etc. - Battlestar Galactica
And I actually started watching Lost this season, though don't know if I'll keep up.
Hmmm, a lot of chick shows in there ...

Oblivion ... Even with all of the PC useres crying foul, they didn't even bother to have someone rework it Didn't that suck? How much effort could it have taken for them to release a UI with smaller fonts? At the very least. As much as I understand the pressures developers are under, that complete and total contempt for PC users really really pissed me off. Yes, users have modded a better UI since but they shouldn't have had to!
And ironically, Morrowind is the one example of a game that didn't seem to suffer much from parallel development. It was no Daggerfall to be sure, but UI wise it was just fine.
Oh, and I just noticed this:
The Q&A did offer some new hope to BioShock fans. Both the 360 and PC versions of the game will "be exactly the same" Oh boy! What GOOD NEWS. Now us PC users don't have to worry about higher resolution textures or fewer load zones or enemies that aren't design for auto-aiming. Yay! Thank you Irrational!! Thank you!

Upside down pee dogs |

They're not so uncommon. My coworker has a little dog that pees in exactly the same way. He'll actually walk along on this front legs while peeing (the dog, not my coworker). He actually hurt his hind leg a few years back and, though it doesn't actually *hurt*, he's very touchy and careful about it. That maybe has something to do with his odd peeing behavior.

I hope we can play this without thinking console, it will be the line everyone is watching (well at least the fans). Amen. A couple of years ago I would have been as psyched as Meatforce, but nowdays, after so many bitter disappointments, I approach parallel PC/Console games with a big dose of caution and skepticism. Warren Specter used to be my hero--I practically worshipped that man. But today he's irrelevant to me. I wish him all the best in his endeavors and all that, but his path has diverged from mine.
Ken Levine has been awesome in dealing with the community. His design philosophy is exciting. He's also guaranteed us that the PC version hasn't been compromised by the console version. But we've heard that before, haven't we? I don't take anything for granted nowdays until I actually see the finished product.

... and then when the PC version of the game was released at the end of December we all saw it for what it was...a cheap port of a console game. It's sad to see a great game company die. It'll go on and make profits but it's BethSoft in name only. The company we knew and loved is gone.

But I'm of the put as much information on one screen as possible school of web design. I hate when the web designers around here take my stuff and spread it out so I have to scroll forever.

I never eat chili the same day I make it. It needs to age in the fridge for 24 hours. I always add way more hot chili than I like because by the next day it's calmed down somewhat and blended nicely with the other flavors. The hotness decreases every day after that.
