Blue's News on average has a much higher comment quality than most gaming sites, but boy, do these threads bring out ugly sides in the personalities of even some seasoned regulars.
They sure do. And race as well. I remember years ago here there was an article about black gamers and boy did they ever come out of the woodwork. The thread had hundreds of mostly rabid posts. Not racist posts for the most part, but people upset that someone even dared raise the issue. What is it about these topics that instill rage in certain people? Indifference I can see - I'm mostly indifferent to these topics - but why the rage? It's like a reverse victim mentality. Whites are so victimized, men are so victimized.

Ah, damn. I hate to see that happen to once respectable sites. I don't know a lot about sourceforge but it was one of the places I considered trustworthy to download from. From Wikipedia:

I've been spooging out on both FO3 and FONV last couple of weeks. Currently finishing up Old World Blues. And I want more Fallout now! Never played FO1 or FO2 sadly so no reason to hate the new ones as untrue to the originals.

I'm pretty sure the decision to remove jumping has nothing to do with consoles. Plenty of first-person console games have jumping. Hell, CoD, the epitome of consolitis, has jumping.
I'm being sorta facetious anyway, kinda, but in those games you mention you don't alert guards if you jump accidently. It's not that it's hard to jump on a console, obviously. It's that with the controller it's too easy to jump accidently or miss a mantle.

The whole jump debacle reminds me of when the demo for Thief 2 came out. Beautiful demo. I played it many many times. It was a City rooftops mission. When the game was released they had added a lot more to the level and tightened up the spaces between rooftops because players were falling to their death a lot and the devs said that was no fun so they made the whole thing less perilous. Even though falling wasn't a problem for me the change was totally fine. It didn't dumb down the level or anything.

I don't know how easy or possible this would be from your CSS styles, or directly within the embed call, and you might have to use things like !important, but I think the current embed could benefit from such a restyling so it doesn't look out of place.

Took me awhile but I totally got into that show. I didn't care for the first season much cause everyone was such an asshole, Greer was a scary psycho, Camille a manipulative bitch, Rush a caffeine-deprived lunatic. Once everyone settled the fuck down in season two and I actually started to like these characters it became my favorite show. I still watch the reruns pretty regularly.

I thought the series finale was perfect. Also just open-ended enough. I think it was only going to take them 3 years to get to the next galaxy, not 300 years. So it would still have worked.

I don't have a problem with Google scanning emails. It's a free service and they're entitled to make a profit from it. As long as everyone using it knows the deal, and they should, it's their responsibility to know.

Unfortunately at my university they closed down our own mail servers and started using Gmail to cut costs. Many people complained about the privacy implications and I hope all of this makes the big boys rethink their choice. Throwing out privacy at a big institution like this is just stupid.

One of the Let's Play channels I follow on Youtube did XCOM: EU and I watched it out of curiosity, not knowing anything about the series except the original was beloved in its day. Damn, I ended up watching the whole series and by the end I was practically shouting at my screen when the player did something stupid. Now I'm tempted to get it even though it's unlike any genre I've played before. I've got a strategy for beating the game all mapped out. Watching was fun but playing it would either be fun and addictive or tedious. I can't tell. So I'll wait until it's under $20.

I seem to remember years ago playing a demo of a game written in Lisp. It was a platform game if I remember and the graphics were very impressive, on par with other A-List games of the time. All I remember was controlling a lizard kind of creature. Wish I could think of the name.
