Totally disagree with you guys. I think a live action movie with the cubic landscape and creatures would be awesome. I'm thinking something like Tron. I really would have no interest in seeing yet another all cgi-movie.

Loved the Whole Foods article. Absolutely nailed it. I hate hate HATE WF with a passion. Mostly because it's so outrageously, needlessly expensive. The owner's politics is pretty awful, and just like the article says, it dangles pseudoscience in front of the elite educated masses and they lap it up like a dog on shit.

Both opinions in the second article are by libertarians. Certainly consistent with their philosophy: the government shouldn't legislate; let the magic finger of the free market sort things out. If you don't like what Comcast/Verizon is doing you can simply choose another ISP. Ha ha.

What a brutal few days. I don't post a lot but suddently I wanted to post all over the place and couldn't! Comments go down same week as a big Thief gameplay trailer, same week as Irrational bites the dust ... I was jonesin' to read some comments to see what I think about it all. If I didn't know better I'd say Blue staged these little outages to make us appreciate him more. Mission accomplished! Well played sir. Well played.

How dare you put IW and HR in the same category!

How dare you, sir?!
Really, I rather liked IW. Even more than HR. I know, unified ammo, micro-sized maps, annoying circular UI, but nonetheless some of the levels were damn good. Made you forget the flaws.

Then again I kinda sorta liked Daikatana too, so what do I know?

Thanks Sepharo. That doesn't surprise me about a TV where you sit much farther away than a monitor. It also occurred to me that 4Ks are often larger than normal HD monitors. I don't think 1080 would look so good on a larger screen, but from your experience with your friend's TV they might look as good or better than on a standard HD screen of the same size.

I've been very grumpy and pessimistic about this but the last trailer I saw gave me a glimmer of hope. Maybe it will be an enjoyable game in the same vein as DX:IW and DX:HR - neither worthy of the Deus Ex name but enjoyable in their own right. This won't be Thief but there could be worse things than a Dishonored clone.

1. 4K monitors Feb 3, 2014, 10:51 Ratty

I'm thinking about 4K monitors. When I got my latest PC I saved the monitor from my last PC but now I'm thinking of getting a new one. For some of the photographic work I do I could really benefit a lot from a 4K monitor, but I don't want it to impact my gaming. I'm not ready to invest in multiple graphics cards yet so I know I'm not going to be playing the latest games in 4K. Here's my question: since the vertical and horizontal resolutions are exactly twice standard HD, can I play games at 1920x1080 on a 4K and get the same quality as I get with my current standard HD monitor? Anyone have a 4K? Any gotchas I haven't thought about? Is it best to wait another year or so?

Microsoft may have wanted to push touch computing to the masses in Windows 8, but the reality is that users have voiced clear concerns over the interface on desktop PCs.
Bullshit. Microsoft wanted to push their tablets and phones to the masses and used their OS purely as a marketing tool to do so.

I think of all the LP channels I follow on Youtube I wouldn't be upset with a single one of them if they disclosed the game they were playing was sponsored. I already know they get paid for views and am behind them 100%. Some of them ask for sponsorship from their viewers and give shoutouts to those sponsors in their videos and that's actually clever and fun. I wish these contracts didn't preclude revealing they are being paid though. That's the only sucky part about the whole situation. I don't mind that companies have a non-disparaging clause. That makes total sense. I hope it doesn't extend to videos beyond the one being sponsored though. Like, do they say you can't say anything bad about XBox in any other video for 6 months or something like that?

I think Blue should have a sponsored article section. I'd click on those (as long as it doesn't mean an end to his snarky comments in other parts of the page!)

I made a meat sauce last weekend too. I have an OK quick 30-minute meat sauce I usually turn to but wanted to try a slow-cooked variety for the first time. Didn't turn out so well. The recipe involves browning the shit out of the meat - till it's almost crispy. But I think I ended up burning it a bit as it has a funny taste. So back to the drawing board for me.

As long as you can provide the original email address and name that you made the account with, tech support should be able to move the account to your current email address. I'm assuming that you have long since lost access to the original email account used to create your account which is why you can't just reset the password yourself. I had the exact same problem with a few of my wow accounts and I called the tech support number and the lady merged all my old accounts into a new one. I would call rather than trying to do it by email because it will take some back and forth communication to get the job done.
I usually use one of several throwaway accounts for things like this. And who knows what name I used back in 2010? Certainly not my real name. OK, I'll try to figure out what accounts I may have used. It's good to know Blizzard has tech support that is actually useful. I guess it's not completely fair to blame Blizzard. I could find myself in the same situation if I lost the registration code for an old piece of software, even though I had the install media.

Hey, I have a question and thought I'd ask here first. I found my StarCraft II WOL DVD and since I never finished it I thought I'd give it another go. Problem is I have since upgraded to a new computer and haven't a clue what my old BattleNet login/email or password is. I seriously have no reason to ever use Battlenet for anything so just didn't pay attention the first time - I just wanted to play a fucking single-player game - and didn't want to have to keep track of yet another website login password for years to come.

So I create a new Battlenet account and install from DVD, everything seems fine. I play a couple of levels but it turns out I'm just playing the starter edition and it won't play anymore until I upgrade to the full game! WTF? I'm guessing I've just been screwed by Blizzard and I'm SOL unless I want to pay again for the same game.

Or am I just being overly cynical? Since I have the actual physical DVD is there a way to get the full game again? Does Blizzard have a support email or a phone number that they actually respond to?

I got a very nice scanner at a thrift store for 10 bucks. Took it home, couldn't find drivers then looked it up and found out about their scam. New OS? Ha ha ha sucker. You have to buy a whole new scanner cause we ain't makin you any stinkin drivers. That 10 bucks I wasted made me mad way out of proportion to the money I spent. Didn't know about VueScan though. Hope it works.

Can you fast forward through the commercials? Comcast disabled that about a year ago for most of its on-demand TV offerings. So if I miss DVRing something I'll have to wait for a rerun or get it from Netflix when it comes to DVD. I wish there were an alternative to Comcast.

Anytime I see a headline for this game I keep getting hyped thinking it's a reboot of that old FPS/RPG from the mid-90s. Considering everything else from the era seems to be getting being rebooted...

But no, it's just another MOBA
Yeah, I got a little excited for a moment too. Strife was an awesome game. The only non-Raven game I can think of that used the Doom engine. Build sure got a lot of love from many many companies but you never saw much done with Doom outside Raven.

As much as I loved Strife back in the day I just don't see much there that would merit a reboot or remake. It was kind of generic really.

Ah yes, Natural News. My very favorite site for PROVEN SCIENCE and all things SCIENCY. Here's some other articles BluesNews readers may enjoy:

  • 10 outrageous (but true) facts about vaccines the CDC and the vaccine industry don't want you to know.

  • Oregon parents who choose to protect their children from the horrors of vaccines will now have to jump through a slew of unconstitutional government hoops

  • Improving health and well-being with crystals

  • Why Himalayan Salt is the perfect storable barter item for preparedness and survival (In the event of a ZOMBIE apocalypse one presumes)

  • Why Himalayan Pink Crystal Salt is so much better for your health (Oh, look. They have a handy link so you can buy some from them!)

I admit it left me queezy for some time after using it too but its almost worth it its so cool..
Don't care if I have to wear it for ten minutes, barf my guts out, then come back for ten more minutes until barf time again everyday for a month until I get used to it. I'm getting one. Sure I'll be weak and sickly from fluid loss but I'm still getting one.
