We get mods, the creation kit, access to the console, Steam, free hi-res texture packs. Let the console kiddies have this one.

I've heard Minerva's Den was really good but I just don't want to deal with GFWL. I got a new computer, don't remember the account or password I've used, don't want to bother figuring out how to reset it - plus I've heard I may not even be able to play it anyway because of GFWL problems.

Sometimes you never know what you'll find on Blues News. I'd never even bother clicking on an interview with Garry Marshall anyplace else but I saw it here, read the whole thing, and enjoyed it. Now my life is enhanced with newfound knowledge about Garry Marshal.

Ran here as fast as I could to report Fringe had been renewed. Curse you nin! Beat me to it.

Zooey Deschanel: Damn girl! Where are your eye lashes?

Phaser: Surprised and glad to see he built the only true ST phaser. None of that Next Gen crap for him.

Moving is among the most traumatic experiences I can think of. Moving from the area you were born and raised and came to love to ... Los Angeles? That's gotta hurt. Glad you're looking at it as a new adventure in life - which is true. Best wishes to you and the Mrs. and your little dog too.

necrovision was so so. Not as good as Painkiller but I played through it twice so that says something.

Setting looks intriguing. Did Crytek ever claim Crysis 2 was a sandbox game?

I'm not sure if thats a good thing or a bad thing lol.

Might be great for them, but it's bad for us.
I'm reminded of how Valve leveraged Half-Life 2 to force the adoption of Steam on everybody. Wanna play Half-Life 2? Then you gotta install Steam. Sure, most of us love it and all NOW, but boy at the time I resented it.

I'm worried they'll try the same thing with Half-Life 3, only this time it's not something we're ever going to love.

I'll occasionally play the lottery but I stayed out of this one. Could you imagine what your life would be like? I don't need that.

A couple quick thoughts about the human CO2 emissions article:

1. As one commenter pointed out, the argument is akin to saying that since people killed each other before guns were invented, guns couldn't also be used to kill people.

2. The Daily Mail is *not* a super reliable source.

3. "The research was recently published online in the journal Earth And Planetary Science Letters and will appear in print on ****April 1****." [emphasis mine]

This is a pretty big deal. Though the Daily Mail isn't the most unbiased source they do point to a reputable journal.

Man-made global warming deniers always point to Europe's little ice age and the warming trend that preceded it. And supporters always rebut this by pointing out it only took place in Europe and is irrelevant for the discussion of global warming. If this research bears out, it's a huge blow to supporters' theories. A couple of other points still stand though: The warming trend in question was far, far less in magnitude than what we're seeing today and it is believed to have happened during a solar maximum, again, unlike today. So it's still not a total disproof but a significant blow nevertheless.

Just in time for my fourth playthrough. I did two archer playthroughs, then I tried a destruction mage playthrough since I've never done an ES mage before, but got bored with it and quit. Tonight I just started an illusion mage playthrough. Using rage to get your enemies to kill each other is just too damn much fun.

You are confusing the in-house Bethesda developers, with the parent company, Zenimax.

Bethesda Game Studios has no interest in creating an MMO, nor a multi-player version of TES, for that matter. They only make Single Player games.
I hope that's true. I just don't want to see any Bethesda staff or resources devoted to anything else than the upcoming DLC and the next SP Elder Scrolls.

And to those saying that the ai and stealth was broken, you are crazy. Crysis 1 and Far Cry had the best ai I've ever seen in a shooter. They don't shoot you if they don't see you. Clearly you weren't hiding.
We had some Far Cry discussion here a few weeks ago and that prompted me to replay the game. A stealthy playthrough, where possible, was damn fun. I emptied out entire levels with my silenced MP5 with no one the wiser. Tag them on your radar, crawl into position in the brush, and a single bullet to the head to take them out one at a time.

The first Far Cry is one of my favorite games ever. Best multiplayer since Blood. And I loved the mutants. It added a layer or horror and survival to the game. It was a very varied game.

Crysis 1 was ok, big open spaces, lots of options, but it lacked something that can't be described. It was sanitized.

I haven't even played the second one. I mean, a corridor shooter? "Press start button"? Autoaim? Really?
Totally ditto here on all counts. FarCry: the most awesome thing in the universe. Crysis: pretty fun but no FarCry. Crysis 2: didn't even bother.

Far Cry was great until it became impossible in the end.
Sepharo wrote on Mar 12, 2012, 12:09:
I remember the rusted out boat level being a little strange. You had to swim out to it and then navigate an annoying entrance and fight helicopters from the deck right? Not a good area.
Of course the big problem with FarCry was uneven difficulty but I much prefer a game to be too hard than the opposite. We just don't get hard games nowdays. So I'm OK with it.

Doesn't mean I like it, frankly I thought the ending(s) sucked. I felt the same way I did with the Deus Ex endings - instead of having the various decisions I made along the way matter, they just give you a bunch of options (crappy ones in this case) and make you choose. Ending cop-out 101.
Name any modern game that advertises how your choices influence the game and doesn't cop out with the lame multiple cutscene endings. All the Deus Exs did it, FO3 and FO:NV, Elder Scrolls, etc. I'm with you: that has always annoyed me no end.

The only game I can think of that truly did branching into radically different games based on decisions you made was one called Strife. It was built on the original Doom engine, so you know how long ago that was.

Wasn't there an article here a couple of days ago mentioning how game designers were loathe to ever put things in a game that not everybody would see? Perfectly understandable but I don't have to like it.

Netflix May Resurrect "Terra Nova".
The turd that wouldn't die. I wouldn't even hope for resurrecting Firefly; those guys have gone off to do other things. But Stargate Universe is still ripe for the plucking. It took a while but I came to really love that show.
