The last line of the article kind of makes the point, really: I mean, it's not like the game will be a "flop" like Bulletstorm, right?
Eurogamer gave Bulletstorm a 9. You're not suggesting Bulletstorm must be worse because it didn't sell as well, are you? Please tell me you're not... |

New DLC every week? Isn't that usually called a subscription? Oh well. DRM silliness and Steam requirement aside, I'm really looking forward to this. Looks like fun for funs sake, which you don't see a lot of these days. |

PropheT wrote on Sep 8, 2011, 18:37: That's a pretty big stretch and a ridiculous conclusion to come to. Gamers shouting epithets or using questionable language at each other isn't exactly something new, whether it's people calling each other fags on Xbox Live or a gamer proclaiming how he "raped" someone else at any other game out there. I don't think anyone has ever claimed, outside of maybe Jack Thompson and Fox News, that it's the games making those people act like that rather than being a problem with the community members who do it and the culture of the gaming community that, for the most part, allows it.
Took the words out of my mouth! As nonsensical as those words are...
The vast majority of gamers don't spew hate-fuelled bile at random strangers. The tiny minority that do, don't do it because gaming culture is more twat-friendly than other walks of life. They do it because they're cocks, and because the anonymity of the internet allows them to say things that would earn them a broken nose if they tried it in person. You walk past those same cocks on the streets every day. They just keep their moronic thoughts to themselves while they're in punching distance.
It's all irrelevant shite, anyway. Nobody's called anyone anything. Some guy typed something unfunny in some code that was never meant to be seen by anyone else. It's no more offensive than a kid writing four-letter words in his school books. Now that same guy has lost his job, just to appease people like you, and the scary words have been plastered all over the net, causing way more offence than if they had been taken for what they were. Congrats. |

Don't get too sensitive about what sensitive people think about you, ya wimp. Except he wasn't expressing his right to free speech. He was suggesting other people shouldn't, in case someone, somewhere decides to take offence. So... the exact opposite, then. You should try and inject a little logic into your trolling if you want people to take it seriously. |

Draugr wrote on Sep 8, 2011, 17:59: If you're reffering to stereotypical characters, then once again the list of stereo type female characters to stereotyped male characters is, once again, much longer. *sigh* I'll try and explain for the hard of thinking...
Most game devs are guys. Most guys like big tits. They put big tits in their games because they like them. Just as they fill their games with big guns, fast cars and robots. Game devs - just like us mere mortals - are entitled to like things. That doesn't mean they think everyone else should like the same things they do. Nor does it mean they think the real world should mirror the fantasy worlds they create. Discrimination has nothing to do with it.
I, myself, have often fantasized about worlds populated entirely by ridiculously attractive, man-hungry women (with very low standards, obviously). Should I feel guilty about that? You may call that sexism. I call it being straight. So stop discriminating against me, you heterophobic twats.

Draugr wrote on Sep 8, 2011, 16:27: Right, because games like Bayonetta, DOA, and Lollipop chainsaw aren't all there just waiting to illustrate my point. They might not be offensive in the same fashion, but it does help illustrate Sexism/views of women in gaming culture. The list could be bigger, but that's just off the top of my head. And for every game you'd name, I could name ten where every male character is a brainless muscle-bound caveman. Not that there's anything wrong with either. I don't see how lovers of the boob making boob-filled games, is any more discriminatory than the Gran Turismo devs making nothing but car porn. |

It still doesn't make any sense to "recommend" we run it on medium, but not every post needs a point, eh? |

Any person with a lick of common sense knows what the guy meant when he made the statement about DRM. It's a pretty safe bet the reason these guys are using Valve's service is to get it in front of eyeballs, that's it.
But by all means, continue. Does releasing it on steam mean they can't also release it on a DRM free site, then? No? No. Looks like common sense isn't so common after all... |

Ventura wrote on Sep 4, 2011, 19:47: RO2 is presenting itself an appealing package over MW3, if just for the price difference between the two. I can get RO2 on Steam for $35.99, whereas MW3 is currently being let go for a somewhat inflated $99.99. Both in $US, of course Still not that cheap. It's only £17.99 on amazon.co.uk, which is about $29. Is buying retail in the US more expensive than Steam, or something? |

| I'm in the UK, so this crap doesn't affect me either. That doesn't mean I like seeing other people getting fucked over, though. I'm not keen on the evil overlords at Square and Valve working together to put traditional retailers out of business, either but... to each their own. |

Oh, that's all right then. Never mind all the people that have already been charged for games that square won't let them run for no reason whatsoever. Or the people that prefer to order from overseas because they get gouged in their own country. Or people in Ireland picking up a UK copy from a local shop, and getting home to find steam won't let them install it because they're in the EU... etc, etc. But no, region locking is definitely something the PC needs more of. |
