The time limit killed the game for me. I was having fun exploring the universe, minding my own business, then all of a sudden all of the systems start disappearing and there is no way to stop it. Game over. It's been a while since I played but it felt like the time limit was way too short. Maybe if I can find a hack that disables the time limit, I'll give it another go.

There's just something special about the old pixelated DOS game look that I adore. This, the Original X-COM, and Masters of Orion are still beautiful to me.

Don't really care about getting free games so never bothered claiming any of them.

I read a comment that if anything, Nintendo has to hate that a little indie company made a game arguably better than their own. I wouldn't say they "stole" Pokemon, but rather they borrowed concepts. Concepts that worked while adding their own spin on it. Nothing wrong with that as there are probably a few million games you can say ripped off another game something.
Unless you have EXACT characters, from the models, to the color palette they used, I don't think Nintendo has anything that they could claim plagiarism against this one.

It's a good thing that Palword came out and is mega popular. Now game journalists have something to clickbait about.

Happy to report that it works great on the Steam Deck if you add Ubisoft Connect via this script

I was about to Subscribe for a month to play the Avatar game. Was that moved to the higher tier?
MoreLuckThanSkill wrote on Jan 16, 2024, 11:08:Subscribe to their black friday specials, catch up on stuff, then cancel when the prices go up, cheap way to do it. Maybe grab a month of one or two of whoever has the stuff you want to see that month. It's a pain, but that's the cheaper way to do it.
No subscriptions for me for games. I suppose I should thank these greedy fuckers, they will finally force me to get a slightly more productive hobby in the next 5-10 years, or just play old stuff I have on GoG.
I'm about ready to cancel every streaming service, they keep raising prices and (mostly) offering worse service/selection.
Prez wrote on Jan 20, 2024, 17:03:For sure.
With my Dad turning 80 and my Mom not too far behind, I think about this constantly. There's no avoiding it. The only question is when it will happen and how much it will suck. I really hope everyone sticks around for a long time. Let's get back to arguing videogames asap - real life sucks too much.

Ok, love the music in the trailer. Hopefully that's representative of the music in the game? I added the game soundtrack to my steam wishlist.
eRe4s3r wrote on Dec 20, 2023, 18:08:I did mention it's possible it's still made up. And yeah I've never seen that.
I don't see any proof in the pudding that shows this score isn't made up from the tea leaves of some accounting head at Epic. Have you ever seen such a review popup? Because I haven't. So we can already assume from this that it doesn't even show up on games you got for free? Where would it even show up? In the client?
Steele Johnson wrote on Dec 20, 2023, 10:36:And it could well be that 10m of that was from presales when the game first came out and the other 7m is over 5 years.
Their announcement says nothing about concurrent players, and it doesn't sound like they're implying that either. They're merely stating that 17m unique players have the game and created n characters
eRe4s3r wrote on Dec 20, 2023, 07:52:So, EGS isn't aggregate of reviews to be clear. They said their review system asks some random players who play over 2 hours to submit a review rating. Which is PAST the refund time. So people hating it enough to refund, won't be asked to review the game. That in and of itself tilts the review ratings upwards. In otherwords, they pick who to offer a review rating opportunity to. It's not like steam or other platforms where anyone who has the game can do a review even if they then refund it. Ostensibly this is to avoid review bombing. Which I'm sure it does. But it also has the effect of boosting all the review scores on EGS. It's a much heavier handed approach (and also less manpower intensive) than Steam's approach of "hey this game has abnormal reviews in this period of time and it's flagging for manual review, and even if we exclude some in the score for being off topic we will still let people see them AND we will let people set a setting to still include them in the scores they see if they wish"
Meanwhile I got flamed way back when I mentioned that EGS "review" score is 100% fake on all games, not just on EGS exclusives ^^
Really, try to find the actual reviews it uses as score aggregate. They don't exist.

It is on my wishlist, but it's interesting that the most recent reviews are at mostly positive instead of very positive in the run up to the 1.0 release after 5 years of early release.
Heck, I think this was one of the OG kickstarters of ages ago

It's not that I think he's a genius, but he's clearly an intelligent person.
My perspective is a story about a blundering Asperger-y attempt to fulfill their bottom line, to find a way to talk to people who coal roll. I don't think it's that far-fetched, or requires someone to be a genius to conceive.
