| Retrovirus was patched, but WTF was in it? Steam doesn't say. I get tired of games not bothering to put a changelog into steam (or more likely, not putting out a changelog period) |

I just googled for info on that promised high res texture pack...
Did they REALLY say they didn't bother to have the stuff at higher resolutions so can't produce one? WTF? Then why promise one? Did you guys really make the textures at just near console res and have no larger originals?
Not exactly showing off your engine very well if the textures suck. I thought that was the main point of the engine, to have great textures that get auto adjusted to keep up framerate. |

Feel free to cite your sources when you're done un-bunching your panties from your last response. I cited 2 sources for one of the bits you are quibbling with, namely "They have his thanks but not his money." You can google for the links, they aren't hard to find. One of them is even linked in this blurb from blues at the top of this page. |

They have his thanks but not his money. You know both of these things for a fact or you're just spewing jealous venom? Aren't profits AFTER employees are paid? So thats an obvious fact (at least the latter). And don't forget all those employees who sued for unpaid wages relating to CoD bonuses.
As for the former, I have no idea if they are slave driving or not. But software industry in general tends to have horrific hours, often without overtime pay. |

I have never heard of that one and never had an update 'brick' any iPhone I've owned. For example: article link
From what I can tell, that particular problem was because their update servers got slammed and apple hadn't bothered putting a failsafe into the process if it couldn't contact the update server.
Just because YOU haven't had it happen personally to YOU doesn't mean it never happened for anyone. |

It's fun to just chill for an hour and casually drive from Poland to France hauling some human-devouring acid for whatever evil plot the French Socialist government has come up with that time. (I find it helps to come up with background stories for the cargo. ) Role playing a truck sim - I love it!
Just need to roll some d20's. Or maybe spin them like those dice rings in that completed KS: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/critsuccess/dice-rings |

| From my experience GW has ALWAYS been nuclear and nutso about protecting their IP. This isn't even CLOSE to the first time they've pulled something like this. |

Redmask wrote on Feb 6, 2013, 17:27: I know people who would buy a lot less console games if they weren't able to trade in the duds so this would only hurt them in the long run. I doubt Gamestop would take that lying down, they would penalize any system that doesn't allow used sales by denying floor space and like them or not, they're a major presence in the videogame industry. You and I know that, but MS thinks otherwise.
Also if both sony and MS do it, gamestop won't have anyone specific to penalize. |

Verno wrote on Feb 6, 2013, 13:46: That's what makes me a bit dubious about this, there isn't much of an up side for Microsoft here other than favor with publishers. MS loves having more control over every market they are in. See win 8 for only the most recent example. As well, I'm sure they have the view that having activation and tying would increase sales since it would eliminate used sales (they get crazier with every version of windows with activation).
Beamer wrote on Feb 6, 2013, 13:55: This is one of those things neither Microsoft or Sony can really do first. They either both do it or neither do it.
Odds on both doing it? If one does, they both will I'm sure. Like some time ago all the big hdd companies reducing warranties to 1 year from 3, all within a few weeks of one another. You can't tell me that was a coincidence.

More probably a mix of both. If by "juice" you mean "Advertisement dollars", then yes. Well that and everything else that marketing does to boost scores. I was thinking of the more shady stuff when I said that. I'm sure it all goes into the marketing budget. |

Comments are talking about always on being for ads, I find it more likely it will be primarily used for copy protection and control. Perhaps to lock games down to a specific user/console so there's no more used sales, etc.
Edit: And now that I RTFA, thats what they said too
