Sympathies to those that have lost their parents..
I'm trying to move closer to mine now that they're getting on in years, but there's no work where they live so I'm stuck working in another hemisphere on a different continent. My father recently separated from my mother and although I've seen them twice since neither are acknowledging it around me. |

Anno must cost a fortune. It's a triple AAA engine that really pushes even the newer cards. For a strategy PC only title, that's rare these days.

BiA is missing a great deal of features that JA players are accustomed to having. This isn't "hardcores" being "hardcore", it's that BiA offers less of a game. The original is superior, and the graphics and control systems have aged well enough that there is no reason to play a newer inferior product.
Do yourself a favour and play the original. |

Where I'm from I tend to ignore what's going on around me as much as possible, a glance in the wrong direction can attract attention and bad news.. Keeping your head down and staying on the move is a simple way to stay out of trouble in many modern cities. Street smarts :\ |

A 128 x 128 pixel texture cannot magically upres. This is why Carmack uses a detail map\improved filter\or whatever on these low resolution images in a vein attempt at making them appear "crisp".
Of course it won't do much if the texture is low res to begin with.
Somewhere along the way programmers decided on a visual quality that suited their technology, and the art department leads went along with it. |

I speak Afrikaans, it's a derivative of Dutch and was originally spoken by white settlers in Africa. The people associated with the 'n word' in that menu dislike Afrikaans because it's the language apartheid was built on. The only reason non-whites speak Afrikaans is because it was forced on them in state schools.
If the guy had put "YOU ARE A RED SKINNED SUNBURNT LANDOWNING WHITE DEVIL", it might have been more appropriate. And actually funny.
I bet the translator responsible for that likes pictures of cute cats and doesn't get out of his first world suburb much. |
