Read an interesting article a while back which quoted David Simon on how no one watched The Wire while it was airing but everyone is watching it now on DVD and calling it "the best ever". He was pretty honest about how it irks him since it was a battle justifying it's continued run on HBO due to low ratings. Credit to them for keeping it going as long as they did and giving it a proper conclusion.

No, you're right. It was vastly overrated. I thought it was pretty childish myself. Over sensationalized violence and cursing was all it was. Which is super if you're a teenager but leaves a more mature crowd wanting.
Another worthless Cutter opinion designed to agitate.

When I read that I didn't think of Wasteland, I thought of Alpha Centauri.

Those monsters at EA.

News Comments > DCS: Combined Arms Pre-Purchases

Sims are a niche market with a very dedicated fanbase that isn't as fickle as the majority of gamers who stick with a title for 2 or 3 months at a time before moving on. Sim gamers understand that the quirks will eventually be ironed out and view the titles as platforms rather than "games". ArmA is a title with this reputation which is why many gamers scoff at it as a game but don't understand why some have been supporting and playing it for 10+ years. DCS World clearly has some excellent promise as a longterm platform. The DCS guys right now are the id software of 10 years ago, the Gran Turismo devs of the sim world. Companies that develop sims are creating complicated titles (visually and programming wise). That costs money. Pay for beta offers benefit both parties in this instance.

as if the modern american "yoga" has anything to do with what Patanjali was talking about.. these idiots are fooling themselves if they think bending your body straight back means you are "spiritual"... asanas are physically beneficial, but so is running a few miles - the real purpose of asana is to engage various bhandas for the prana to circulate in specific ways

if these people were real yogis, a fucking cellphone would not bother them in the slightest... nor would anything else, thats the point of it

space captain is the most chill, most spiritual person on the Internet.

space captain doing yoga makes me think of Tooms from XFiles

I don't see the connection of COD with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OJtro9VK4nQ
lol sadly recent nin albums don't have much to do with that either... reznor cashed in the moody sexually perverse undertones along time ago

the pinion vid certainly relates to the general downward trajectory of the cod series though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfW0ke4bwI4

maybe they can release the cock grabbing claw machine from the Happiness in Slavery video on xbox live as a promo for cod - cock does rhythm with cod??

some of the first video content i ever downloaded on my 14.4 dial-up were the nin videos available on the now defunct nineinchnails.net

No, it's called language. Try using it! It's all the rage these days, people actually communicating!

(Also, anyone who says "my music can't be put into a genre" is a pretentious twit. Rough categorization isn't a bad thing. Unless you absolutely, positively think every single thing is unique. Then you're just like all the other people exactly like that. Twit.)

ignore space captain. he's the resident teenager, endlessly contrarian.

Reznor and the other musicians involved with NIN over the years are too talented for NIN to be a mere industrial band. NIN isn't industrial and as someone who long ago outgrew listening to outright industrial bands, that's a good thing.

Last worthy nin album was like in 2000 or something, guess he got lazy

While there was a decent gap between The Fragile (~2000) and With Teeth (~2005), the amount of music he has put out and the amount of tours he's done since then makes your "lazy" claim absolutely laughable (regardless of whether you find his recent work "worthy").

After the 1990 to 1997 stint of crazy awesome albums, endless touring, creating great soundtracks for films and scoring a legendary game like Quake..I can live with the post 2000 slowdown. The guy somehow had a hand in much of my favourite entertainment as a teenager.

I like any sort of sandbox management title, especially if it's 2D. Prison architect looks interesting. I'm sure Introversion can pull it off, though I guess they better after shelving Subversion.

What a poorly written preview. The cartoony in-game graphics "conflict" with the gritty still frame cutscenes? The writer has no imagination. Welcome to gamers circa 2012, good job phoning that in demonstrating your lack of interest in something not featuring flashy 3D graphics.

This track is just a pay day for Reznor. Anyone remember the Deep track from Tomb Raider in 2001. He's not above taking some cash to stick his name on something.

You can't really equate writing a theme to licensing an already released song, especially when one decision may not have even been his.
Deep was written for Tomb Raider. This track will be written for the game. I know you like to get into loopy semantic arguments but in this instance I don't see the point. He is creating music for a commercial product. I've got no problem with that, it is what is.

At this point NIN has run it's course. Reznor seems content to make looping tracks with little in the way of climax, or conventional rock tunes like The Hand that Feeds. I still love some of the newer music. Ghosts, and the recent soundtrack are excellent, but what I wouldn't give for another Happiness in Slavery or Reptile..

Broken, PHM, TDS are albums I will always be able to go back to. I managed to catch him live in 2009 (prior to that my remote elephant infested location prevented seeing them in concert but I made sure to catch them on the good-bye tour). Was pretty high up on my "bucket list" of shit to do.

That teaser commercial was bland. In comparison to the zany over the top Omnicorp commercials in the original films. I realise it ain't the early 90s anymore but I hope they keep things at least a little over the top. I'm not sure I'd buy that for a dollar.

A big cathartic crash would be nice. Don't see it happening though. Game publishers will just stop making high budget titles and simplify and move to platforms like mobile that are profitable. This process is slow and has being going on for years.
