Yeah, you are right -it was Escapist, not Gamasutra. My mistake.

...one that has a lovely "GIRLS!" section and runs regular articles on hot female teachers sleeping with students.

Not surprisingly, they're considered one of the few "pro-GG" sites.

See, this is what I don't get. So if you have a site geared towards gaming males, and you show images of the beautiful female form, "naturally" you are pro Gamergate, and by extension, misogynist. I cannot get that logic. I don't find it to be sexist that guys like seeing images of gorgeous women, any more than I view seeing my hundreds of female Facebook friends pass around images of mostly naked strapping men as sexist. I view it as human.

EDIT: And before anyone asks, I have hundreds of female Facebook friends because I work in animal rescue which for reasons I won't go into is predominantly female (we are talking by a factor of 20 to 1 by my estimation), and I network with rescues across the country.

It is human. Absolutely.
But, again, things come down to trends. Someone telling one racist joke isn't necessarily a racist. Someone telling many racist jokes almost definitely is.

Are you equating love of the female form to racism?

Feel free to mock me but to me Star Citizen is what PC gaming is all about.
Haha, please keep posting this stuff. It's incredible.

I honestly don't mean to troll you, and really it's great you and others are enthusiastic but unreleased titles pulling in millions on hype and promises are not "what pc gaming is about".

I'd contribute to this site if there was a way to. Been my homepage for so many years.

That paraglider, what, is he Russian or something? Fucking asshole. Mad at the bird? "Fucking creature?" It cuts and fades to black with him yelling at the bird, probably just prior to him killing it. Fucking prick.
An object hits your chute and you're forced to go to your reserve? Not a joke. Having done a little bit of parachuting myself, I'd be swearing too. The bird needn't take it personally, the guy is just shit scared. And yeah, all humans should fall out of a plane or parachute at least once. It's quite an experience sharing the same space as eagles..

If it's anything like dead space then I'll buy it. I don't mind only having a single playthrough. If scripting is how the developers squeezed maximum horror out of it so be it.

Comcast pizza party... I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad. At least they apparently sprung for good pizza. I would have fully expected Comcast to show up with 2 small, plain cheese pizzas from Cici's or something.

They haven't done this in my building yet because my building doesn't have CondoInternet. The one I was supposed to move into did, but I switched to this one at the last minute since it has a ridiculous view, but no CondoInternet. Apparently I'm the only one bugging the leasing office.

I find it funny that they mention X1 at the end. I would love X1, but you can't get it out here without also getting landline. Guess what, Comcast: no one in an apartment in this part of Seattle has a fucking landline. No one in this neighborhood is over 60.

You would trade gigabit internet for a good view? Shame on you! ^^

I look North and I see the Space Needle about 500 yards away, look West and see the Puget Sound sprawling out about 500 yards away, and look South and see Mt. Rainer in the distance.

It's pretty awesome and I'm going to miss it when I leave Seattle.

I guess I have the simple problem of understanding what the POINT of a good view out a window is. Doesn't enrich my life one bit...

Waking up to floor to ceiling windows with a view of the most notable features of your city with sunlight spilling in everywhere is really great.

Gigabyte internet, on the other hand, rarely seems like it'd be better than the 50mbps I'm getting now, as I'm usually limited by the server, not my connection.

News Comments > Star Citizen's $55M Sets Crowdfunding Record

I would be more concerned with them being unable to finish half of what they're promising than being concerned with it being disjointed.

I remember the first time I played Space Rangers 2 with it's 2d space exploring and combat, 3d planetary rts, text adventures, trading sim, rudimentary rpg mish mash. Parts were disjointed, and the 3d rts portion was very average, but it still impressed me that all of it was present. So much variety in that game.

Looks and smells like a Steam early access scam. I'm thinking Tim is going to have to go the traditional funding route next time around.

Kickstarter supporters burned on Broken Age
Early access supporters burned on Spacebase DF-9

Nothing wrong with crowdfunding, developers need to have enough integrity to deliver.

I don't think they are intentionally trying to rip people off. They mean well.

These guys need better producers/business people reigning them in and dictating exactly what they can and cannot promise to customers.

I watched the first and second episodes of The Knick. Didn't hold my attention. The setting was good but it felt flat. Since I know Blue is a Deadwood fan (as am I) maybe I'll give it another shot.

Was liking the look of this up until the third person view in the vehicle. One of the appeals of this type of games is the immersiveness of the first person view and throwing to third person in a vehicle really kills that for me.
Same I lost interest when they showed the vehicles. If you're going to sell a focused FPS experience of old then why muddy it with vehicles?

I'm not sure if these sites are really being hurt by any of this. Some of those charts show a decline prior to this noise.

I don't care for any of the personalities involved in this. Wannabe intellectuals attempting to make a name for themselves or shameless indie game developers or "SJW" or bloggers playing journalist or misogynistic teenage COD players or posters of that 4chan thing. I don't identify with any of them. I wasn't invested in any of this until the gamers are dead articles. That struck a nerve. Disabling of comments and preventing discussion? I've stopped visiting certain sites completely. It was sudden and effortless.

Years back I read Gamespot and IGN. These sites changed and became much more commercial. I ceased to go there completely. Sites popped up in reaction to this commercialism. It seems another change is happening. In a few years it will happen again.

Also, I'm not so sure this was secret. If it was secret, why did they name it "Gaming Journalism Professionals?" Seems not that secret.

Maybe because Game Illuminati was taken? Oh, that's probably another conspiracy!

Are you implying that anyone who takes interest in this story is a conspiracy nut?

Have any of the people who feel threatened or offended by keyboard warriors ever attended a sporting event? Been to a bar? Walked down a street at 1am in a downtown area with night clubs? Gamers are like any group. There are always going to be shitheels. Many mainstream pastimes are a couple of rungs up the order of threat potential.

I find transporting troops to be micro-heavy; I can't think of a better way of doing it but having an otherwise nearly useless jeep to manage while infantry is holding a position is a pest.
Agree. In Red Dragon I have some Vietnam style troop + huey decks which I match up against infantry heavy decks for the opfor. I wish there was a way to automatically have Huey's leave after unloading. Having to manually click through all the landed Hueys is a pain. The huey icons also overlap the unloaded infantry icons meaning it's not just a pain from a micromanagement standpoint, but it also shows up the UI.

I realise it's possible to double click a single huey icon and have all huey's selected but this isn't ideal if you still have some in the air close by you'd like to unload elsewhere.

It's too bad SMS opted to use the NFS Shift engine as the basis for Project Cars rather than the ISIMotor engine the Simbin titles used.

As a Gran Turismo or Grid competitor on PC it's ok (and certainly looks amazing), but it is not a sim. They certainly have developed the physics but the slant towards graphics over physics is apparent.
