I can barely play Grid 2 because of the Bro who is always telling me what to do. I long for simple menu --> quickrace --> play. Rather than menu --> yo bro blah blah blah --> pointless title text --> wasup blah blah blah --> quick race blah blah blah --> blah blah blah --> blah --> play.

The asian swords setting is so late 90s. I never liked it back then either.

Death penalty needs to come back with a vengeance. Do it like China. Drag them out back of the courthouse after the trial, shoot them, bill the family, dump the body in a landfill.

Like the Chinese do, right Cutter?

Hey, no one is talking about questionable convictions here. We're talking about absolute proof and/or confessions. I'll fucking shoot them myself. Ever had someone close to you murdered? I have, and I have zero fucking sympathy. In fact I have righteous anger that they're sitting around breathing and living on the taxpayer's dime all for the sake of assholes who get their panties in a twist thinking that even the most monstrous criminals deserve to live. Let the punishment fit the crime. Take a life, lose yours. Period.

Internet tough guy. Real life fatty?

He got paid in the games industry. That is an achievement in and of itself.

I work for a fairly large mobile games company. We have a lot of first timers coming in who have never worked in games before. Some are 30 years old who have worked "normal" jobs prior to entering into the games industry. The expectations these people have working in the entertainment industry are out of wack. They spend all day complainming about long hours and low pay.

I've worked in graphics production for 11 years. I've never been unemployed. But for that to happen I've sometimes not been credited for work. I've had to work extremely long hours. Ridiclilus overtime. But I've never been unemployed. I've paid the rent and seen the world working as an "artist". My expectations are..tempered. I know what to take from the job. I know that some people are lucky and become "stars" but the majority of us work hard for our money.

You have to be realistic entering into any entertainment field about the hours and what sort of life you're going to lead. You need to be quite tough.

Incredible amount of menu and pointless cutscenes for a racing game. Unbelievably irritating. Just to get to the menu list takes about 20 seconds as the camera pointlessly pans around.

SP to me means bot AI.

I remember really liking Heavy Gear 2, but I don't remember any of the SP campaign. I do remember battling it out against bots. Perhaps it was some sort of skirmish mode? Can't recall.

It's a shame the Hawken guys created a simple deathmatch shooter rather than something truly mech orientated.

That's the world of BI. Beers, pinecones, cold Czech woman, shitty bars, no budget, aging engine and devs who don't play the games they develop.

PC gaming isn't being abandoned. "Hardcore" gaming is being abandoned. We still get the same shitty console games ported. Shitty game is a shitty game regardless the platform. Gaming generally is being abandoned.

News Comments > Xbox One Announced
69. Re: Xbox One Announced May 21, 2013, 17:34 Dmitri_M

I owned an Xbox360 for 1 year.

1) The majority of the top titles were available on pc as ports.

2) The few exclusive, good titles were fighting games and..I guess a couple of AAA titles like Red Dead Redemption

3) Many of the top tier titles were FPS titles and I couldn't play them with a gamepad

Consoles don't suck.. but I don't see a reason to own one again. Not with an Xbox controller plugged into my PC. Not with the vast majority of major titles being ported.

These social functions they tout over anything game related don't interest me at all. I am connected all day to social media on my work desktop. My smart phone has a ton of social connectivity. If I want to contact someone I use that.

If I own a game console I want to play games. I am buying it for games. The social functions are fine but they're not why I'd buy one. The guys hardly talk about games..

With kickstarters, indie gaming and the absolute shit ton of interesting things developing on PC right now I see no reason to purchase a console again.

I didn't like Cutter's remark either, but let's keep RL references out of here.

It's not my fault I'm almost always right. It does, however, tend to piss off other people. Shit, truth hurts I guess.

Alright, this can't really be Cutter. He's always overcompensated for whatever sad little person he is IRL, but this is reaching parody levels. I wonder if Blue can check IPs to make sure nothing shady is going on here.

What?
No, it sounds just like Cutter. I actually think he's gotten less obnoxious over the years. Or, I should say, negative. For a while all he contributed was "this sucks!" or some variation.

Now he's more likely to follow it up with discussion and generally be entertaining and/or interesting, as well as his standard negative and arrogant.

Cutter used to post over on RPGCodex forums. He arrived here and brought his codex "everything sucks" persona with. He's a worm

The more complicated the AI code the harder it is to have the sorts of "free" systems you have in this title.

Yeah, like Creston said, the idea isn't to make the AI as realistic as possible. The idea is to make it a challenge to overcome, one of many in the game.

Scenario: Hacker terrorist is on the loose. You're a security guard at a key site. Realistically when electronic devices start to screw up, the very first camera goes offline, or anything out of the ordinary happens at all: SHUT. DOWN. EVERYTHING. And then call in the national guard.

That's not very fun if you're trying to do a stealth playthrough without the benefit of a cloaking device, because you rely exclusively on distraction, timing, and exploiting the weakness of the electronic security. If none of that matters because the guards fall back to key locations with clear lines of sight at the first sign of trouble, then you've killed a huge portion of the gameplay.
Yeah "dumb" AI is often a design decision rather than a failure of programmers.

Very convenient for programmers though

Blood Dragon is one of the best games I've played in years. A proper old style shooter and I love the B-grade late 80s early 90s crappy cyborg movie theme.

The guys who made this were clearly fans of Cannon Group, Terminator, and the hosts of rubbish "robot man killer" movies that came out then. Resonates so much with me, pretty much grew up watching those movies.

I cannot say enough good things about this. I seriously hope they turn it into a franchise.
