"within the decade time-frame promised by President Kennedy, an accomplishment that may well be used forever to humiliate lesser achievements that took more time."
Insert Duke Nukem Forever joke here. |

Yea, IGN did say it was actually a good film. I expect it to be entertaining. You can't really expect much else I think. If you go see it and you have fun, I'd say the movie was a success. Most people will see it pre-deciding it sucks because it's a videogame movie and it has the Rock in it (a good actor. I was happy to hear he was going to do it).

But I thought Doom3 sucked. Why? Because you were on a rail. Literally. Very few areas gave you room to move.
...
Pretty engine, terrible level design. Which is what I want more in a game - decent level design. I respect that as a reason. I didn't like Jedi Knight 2 (or 1 for that matter) because I thought the graphics weren't that hot, though that could've been forgiven if they seemed to have any talent in making decent level design. But they didn't apparently. That's the one thing I fear for Quake 4 because Raven is developing that (as they did Jedi Knight 2). I don't think I've ever been very satisfied with a Raven game. I'm hoping they come through for me now =)
As far as Doom 3, yea, I didn't like the Zombie hiding in the closet behind you deal. I thought they could've been a little more creative and make it more "real".. whatever that means. Maybe they were just going for the original Doom feel. But as far as other aspects of level design, I thought they did an amazing job. The amount of detail they got into that little science station was astounding. I love playing just to look at it.

Does it say anywhere that id is actually considering selling?? I mean, it says they were made an offer, but maybe Activision just acted out their desire to buy them, and id obviously said no.
I don't see them selling their company and properties.. not anytime soon.
And haven't they actually confirmed that their next game (id's, not Raven's or anyone else's) is going to be an original IP??
Also, to throw my opinion in with the rest of you, I loved Doom 3, and am blown away by it's graphics every time I play it. Half-Life 2 only beat Doom 3 with the textures on the character models. They were amazing. But everything else about Doom 3 blew HL2 away.
edit: Most of you obviously aren't id fans, especially if you are telling them to sell. Why do you care either way then? Hardly any of you claim to like Doom 3 at all. The game was fun. What more do you want in a game? Why are you reading this website? This comment was edited on Sep 27, 22:45. |

Yea.. Anyone that complains about lag obviously hasn't played in the past two days.. I've played and it has been excellent. I can't wait to play retail.
