That is cool, but aren't you the guy that hasn't driven much in his life?
Thats Cynips I believe. Though it could be true for him too I guess; they are both stanky Europeans! While I haven't owned many cars I've had a drivers license for well over 20 years and driven a bunch of different cars including small trucks and mini buses. And not even a minor traffic violation on my record yet. Hopefully I know my limitations by now, which in my eyes is what makes a good driver. |

I've heard it's supposed to be "jibb" but everyone I've ever talked to said "ghibb". On the other hand I've mostly written it, not said it very often |

I think anyone that pronounces gif as "jif" is a heathen, including the person who came up with it. If he didn't like it, he should have named it "jif"... Or rather, he should have called it "Jraphics Interchange Format". |

Atheists believe that there is no God; the opposite of what a Judeo-Christian believes. An atheist has a set a of notions that they believe as the truth. While those notions aren't of a theistic value, they are values that are believed to be as rightful to an atheist as a Judeo-Christian believes his own notions are true. Among other things a religion is a set of beliefs. You seem hung up on not wanting to admit the belief that there isn't a God (atheism) isn't a religion. As I'm myself an atheist I'd like to say that while it certainly is a belief in that there is no logical evidence, it is based on scientific reasoning and induction. To me, there is no reason to invoke the existence of any god. Hence, being atheistic seems more reasonable (in the scientific sense).
You're clearly an atheist so let me ask you while ive got your attention. Would you be against the displaying of a Pieter Pauwel Rubens painting depicting a biblical scene in a public museum that is funded by the US federal government? There's no denying that Christianity is a big part of our cultural history so I'm sure neither I nor Bhruic would oppose to that. |

Most of you probably guess, but I never had a reason to own a car back in Sweden. Just an unnecessary expense when you can either bike or take the bus/tram/subway wherever you want to go (and you can be drunk and legal :)) Nearest I've come to owning a car before was the wife's 1977 Volvo 240 which I drove 11000 km during six weeks in the summer of 2003 in the line of work. But that's a whole other story in itself.

Frak! I get my car stolen and everybody else or their wives are getting new cars! We have an ugly as fuck 1985 Toyota Camry LE that we got for free from my boss (left over from a Spanish girl who worked for him for a while). It barely runs but we just can't afford anything else. We'd love a Chrysler 300c if we'd go by looks only, but in practice I guess it'd have to be something more fuel efficient like a Civic - both for economy and environment.
Shocking fact of the day: this is the first and only car I've ever owned and I'm 42 yo |

As it turns out, apparently a lot of people have today off Apparently being the key word. I was a little unsure whether or not I had work today but couldn't really see why not so the wife drove me there only to find 4 cars in a parkinglot of at least 20 on a regular sunday even. And we suspected as much already on our way since there was so little traffic... Well, so home we went again Good thing I didn't take my regular 35 min walk to work. Would've sucked doing that only to find an empty lab. |

Anyway, ignore my mad ramblings ; I just wanted to comment on what a great game Far Cry was and still is. F.E.A.R. has the devastating combat, Half-Life 2 has the "whole package" thing, but Far Cry pretty much beats every other FPS out there. It is such a fantastic engine; I wish other games used it. Too bad that in spite of all these fantastic features the game was cheesy as hell. Took away too much of the charisma of it for me to really care much. Not to mention that unnatural, plastic finish.

As much as you think everyone in the world has internet. the future (quoted in bold for clarity)
I don't see any reason why, in the future, Internet access will be as common as is radio today. I'm not talking about next year or so of course, but not about the present situation either.

Happy New Year everyone! Seconded. While 2005 wasn't horrible, I don't think it's unreasonable to wish for 2006 to be better for everyone. Agreed.
We managed to wake the smallest one with the champagne cork hitting the ceiling with a bang, but he happily went back to sleep in mommy's embrace. |

AM and FM will never die. There will always be more people listening to regular radio than pay for service. You don't believe there will be free/ad-funded Internet radio in the future?

I'm getting the impression that it's slower here. Probably because of the system where you have to pay on the receiving end. And for some reason people don't use SMS as much which I personally think is perfect when you're not sure if the person can answer (driving, bad reception, etc), he/she can answer whenever they have time and you often get off much cheaper than compared to a call where you usually have to through the social thing of greetings and small talk. Ring tones certainly had it's bad times in Sweden where I come from but I think most peeple now use the vibration thing instead of sound. Not to mention having beeps for whenever you press a key, a sure sign of a cell phone n00b |

| Funny to watch the cell phone evolution in the States seeing much the same as I've watched in Sweden, only 5 years or more earlier. There are basic differences though that make the whole cell phone thing different here. |
