Downlaoded it and just played it for a few minutes.
Not bad, very much like Lords of the Realm 2 but not as good. I personally wouldnt recommend it, although im sure some people here would like it.

Ah that does look like a plausible explanation Warhawk. Thanks for that. Now all i need to do is read a description of the film and check out some translated lyrics to find out if thats true or not.

Right this is a little off topic, but it's bugging me for a while.
To the German users of this board, what does "Der Einzige Zeuge" mean? Apologies if it's rude, but i've been listening to that track by Neiderschlag for a while and nowhere can i find a proper/decent translation of that phrase.
Edit: I just read that backpack thing and i find it incredible. Just wondering but did anyone when they were younger wear a backpack with only one strap? I know i did. Maybe that contributed to the fact that their sensors detected more pressure on the right shoulder than the left.
And backpack straps should be positioned over both shoulders, lowering the amount of weight carried by one shoulder. Wider straps also reduce the pressure on the shoulders. Really? I never knew the straps should be positioned over both shoulders. I guess my idea of wearing a strap over my elbow was wrong. Sheesh what a useless study. This comment was edited on Dec 6, 18:57. |

I just played this demo. Damn good i think.
It's almost like a 3d JA2.
Except there's a big difference. You remember in Combat mission i think it was where you had a pause, you gave commands to your men, then you pressed play and your men act out 20 seconds worth of action?
Well thats what happens. It's good, it works, but the one major problem is the fact that there's less control over your men i believe since if a new enemy suddenly appears, you're powerless to do anything about it and as such have to trust the AI knows what its doing.
This looks like it could be a brilliant game, but im not too sure because of the way they implemented the turnbased system.

I've always thought that to fully replicate rugby in a game is very very hard to do. It's way more complex than you think and it's faster flowing than American Football.
The whole tactics thing works with American Football because there's a break after every play, but with rugby there are no breaks unless it's a line-out, penalty, scrum or mark. Although if it does work well done to EA for making it work.
I'll look at this one with hopefull eyes, but im not expecting anything amazing here

I don't know if this has been covered, but does anyone remember a game a couple of years back that did this whole "play the game in episodes" thing? All i can remember of it was that it was a Prince of Persia style game. As in an action platformer, puzzles here and there and it was set in Arabia.
If anyone does know what i'm talking about, do you know how it ended up?
On a more related note, i enjoyed the original SiN a lot, and these episode things could work quite well, but unless it's a really really good game, i wouldn't follow it. Even if there was only 3 months or so between episodes. I'm just a fickle and short-attention span gamer

This stood out for me:
this latest epic adventure is due to launch on Windows PC CD and is expected to hit stores around the world in summer 2006. Note the lack of any form of console? Now this could mean that the developers will add many more features to the game/make it more complex since there wont be a major restriction on control structure that there is on a console. That and maybe some very large open spaces.
Bring back the days of point and click games. Those have been, and always will be, the best form of adventure game.

I just downloaded the demo and i didnt think it was good at all.
It was too confusing by far. The least they could have done is included a tutorial in the demo, because it gets highly confusing.
I ran around the first map for literally 20 minutes before i realised that i had to press the "Leave" button to exit the level. Then when i get into the town, my guys didnt put their weapons away, i got into a shooting match and at one point my guys refused to fire. I didn't know if it was due to a lack of AP's or what, it didnt tell me.
Not only that, the load times are a bit long, the graphics aren't bad true, the AI is wierd beyond belief and not only that but the time it takes for the AI to do a turn is too long.
Sorry but this is a poor game for me. I'd stick to JA/DA/2 if i could. But i lost my JA2 cd and dont own the other two.

I understand that, however for me it was fun, especially in NFS:U2 or MC3: DUB Edition to complete the game as it were then just customise cars in stupid ways to see how silly it gets.
Ok the body thing was a bit stupid in NFS:U and NFS:U2 in that you had to outfit the car with stupid decals etc, but i would have thought they had continued that feature, in its entirety, to NFS: MW, however instead of forcing you to buy and outfit your car with stupid stuff, you at least had the full option to change the lights, sideskirts, bumpers, exhausts, colour etc.
It just seems a bit wierd that they did that.

You choose from a rather small selection of about 7 or 8 preset body kits for your car, which means you can't individually add front bumpers, back bumpers or sideskirts. Is this true? You can't individually mess around with certain parts of the car in NFS: Most Wanted?! If so what the hell is the point? If it's a do-up-your-car style game, i expect the ability to change almost anything and everything to do with my car, whether it's visually or to do with performance.
Can anyone confirm or shoot down this statement?

We also have options to develop more sequels for PC and consoles. Now that puts doubts into my mind. If i recall Broken Sword 3 which was a PC and Console game, i remember that it was too short, the controls were a bit wierd (not the classic point and click as i had gotten used to) and the puzzles weren't exactly on the same standard as the previous in the series.
I hope it doesnt end up that way, but hell these days when something says "Console" anywhere it does immediately set off alarms in my mind.

I don't know if anyone noticed this, but it says the action coreographer for Dungeon Siege is the guy who did Hero and House of Flying Daggers.
Now i'm not saying he's a bad coreographer, but his style of action, being oriental martial arts, would not fit dungeon siege one bit. Dugeon Siege is back to medieval style of fighting with no real huge technique, just a "pound and ground" style of swinging, none of this fancy spinning and all that.
Also i'm getting sick of every single action movie that involves some form of melee fighting to be done in an oriental martial arts style. Yes that style was cool when Jet Li and Jacky Chan did it and it was relatively new, but now, for me anyway, that style is getting old and the only actors who can pull it off now are Jet Li and Jacky Chan.
I mean think about it. How many medieval knights/infantry would have one on one fights, do round house kicks, take their eyes off the enemy to spin around, jump up and down like an epileptic kid like what happens in most martial arts films? None. They'd fight face to face, shield in one hand, sword in other circling each other, maybe ducking here and there but generally standing up and smacking each other as hard as they could.
Argh but anyway. I just hope it'll be an ok to decent film.

I remember trying to play Quake multiplayer accross the LAN we had. One machine was a p166, the other was a 486
Ah never have i had such bad framerates as when i tried playing it on the 486. I think it reached a macimum of 1 frame per minute. Damn that was speedy
If i was in the US and had an xbox 360 in my possessoin, i'd play it for about a day or two, then sell it off on ebay. I'd have played an xbox 360, seen whether it's worth getting, and earn a good $2500 on top of that. Sweet indeed.

Why Amazon.com would want to knowingly collaborate in violations of the First Amendment, I really can't quite fathom. You're supposed to like books, not spike books Thats funny. Isnt he violating the First Amendment by forcing Amazon, or at least attempting to, to remove what users have written about his book? What a hypocrite. I actually wonder how he managed to become a lawyer since he obviously doesnt understand law other than "I'm a lawyer, im gonna sue you for slander" and "protect the kids, by ignoring the US constitution and the right to free speech".
Ah i hope he gets put in his place and slowly dissappears into obscurity.

They have this big build up to the battle between Caesar and Pompey and don't even show it Yeah, that episode confused me a bit. I wasn't sure if when Caesar said "Send word to Rome, Caesar has won" it was him being optomistic, or it was due to Caesar actually winning the battle.
Even so i still think the first couple of episodes, although they did indeed have a lot of nudity/sex within them, it set the scene for what the life was like in Rome. As in lots of sex, people not minding about nudity and all that. However if you look at any/most tv series you'll notice that they get better with time.
The best episode of Rome i think would be the previous weeks episode with Pullo and Vorenus fighting in the Arena. That was an absolutely fantastic episode.
I'm just wondering though, was it the Ides of March that Julius Caesar got assassinated on? If not, what the hell is the Ides of March famous for?

and fine final Episode of Rome, Damn straight. That was a series that i loved, and i hope that the next season either continues on with the state of Rome after Caesar's death, or it follows Octavian on his quest to become the first Emporer of Rome. That would e fantastic.
Next would be to see how Prison Break ends up. Will it become the next Lost? By that i mean that nothing actaully happens that furthers the story line in a couple of episodes then something amazing happens, then nothing again for a while. I sure as hell hope it doesnt end up like that, it would be a shame.
Anyway, happy Bday Blue.

Easy CD-DA Extractor i find is the best ripping software. Plus it allows you to encode in MP3, OGG, WMV, MP4, M4A, MPC, WAV, FLAC, APE and AIFF. In other words, basically any audio format you could possibly want.

I hope the people who created the Crazy Frog, marketed the idea and made it so "popular" die a horrible death in boiling oil. Or if that can't be achieved, get mysteriously struck down with some terminal illness that ends in a horrifyingly agonising death. Bastards all of them.
