News Comments > Deus Ex 3 Concept Art & Plot
16. Re: Deus Ex 3 Concept Art & Plot Nov 18, 2008, 15:24 CrimsonPaw

There hasn't really been enough information presented on this game to really get a good sense of where they are going with it yet. If it sucks I'll be the first person to throw a stone.
I agree, there is very little to go on, but you have to admit that even this small dose screams of WTF? There's plenty of time for them to change the plot line, but if they don't, here's what I expect:

Tutorial starts out as you being a security guard. After the tutorial level the offices get stormed in a cut scene viewed from Adam Jensen's perspective. When he wakes up he finds everyone dead except for a scientist that hooks you up with your first enhancements and acts as your mission hub from here on out (like the agency in the first). At this point you start tracking down the guys who did it and it leads to a worldwide conspiracy that you are able to thwart.

But please, don't let common sense interrupt your slobbering glee at another company to troll.
Yes, common sense says that if I was a lowly security guard for a company that just got shot up with most of my co-workers dead, I would get THE FUCK OUT, not try to hunt down the guys who did it. Shit, at least give us something to the effect of the Punisher and say that it was a family owned business and your family died and now you want revenge.

I'm not trolling, I'm just annoyed that story seems to take a backseat in many games anymore. And BTW, the original DX's plot, summed up in 3 sentences, would have made it sound much more interesting than the plot summary we're given here.

The game takes place in the year 2027 and the main character Adam Jensen is a security guard at a biotech company called Sarif. One day the offices are stormed by men in black and almost everyone is killed... almost. Jensen survives and makes it his business to find out what has been going on (because most security guards would give a shit after everyone died).
I would like to see the 8 year old who came up with this plot line. This tells me that they don't have a good writer and puts me in the mindset of "this game is going to suck." I don't want to be there since I loved the original DX, but this is not looking favorable.

I am one of those guys that really can't stand the bond films, even the older ones. I will say, though, that Casino Royal was the first Bond flick that made me say "that was a great movie." I think that has to do with the recent direction of "established" franchises where they are showing the roots of hero; that and the Craig bond actually had flaws which was a welcomed surprise.

I'm not sure I'll be going to the theaters to see Quantum, but I'll definitely be catching it on DVD or Amazon Unbox.

Still need to pick up and play the first Gears. Not worth the $40 (or even $30) at this point and there's no way I'm paying $60 for GoW2. I've got enough gaming for the next 6 months so I'm done buying for a while.

Now there's someone who needs to get out more; I wonder how long it'll take for all their characters to reach level 80.

??? 99% of the people that voted for Obama have no idea what "change" means. I will laugh my ass off when they are pissed.

Morons.
Person 1: We need CHANGE man, and Obama is gonna change it!
Person 2: Sounds good, what is he going to change?
Person 1: He's gonna change what needs it man, CHANGE baby, that's what it's about!
Person 2: That's great, but what needs changing? Better yet, how will it change?
Person 1: It ALL needs changing, and now is a TIME for that change! Obama is gonna change it ALL!!!
Person 2: OK, but what is IT; this IT that needs changed? Can you tell me, specifically, what IT refers to?
Person 1: IT is change, and IT'S COMING BABY!!!! OBAMA FOR 8!!!
Person 2: Fuck this, I give up?

I for one like to support those who have little power simply because they deserve to have what the priviledged few take for granted.
IMO, this is the land of opportunity; if some woman works her ass off and earns her way into a $2,000,000 a year salary, the all the power to her. There's no reason that some POS living in the ghetto DESERVES a piece of that pie. I'm sure I'm gonna get flamed, but it's easier for an underprivileged person to excel in this country than someone from the middle class.

"Want free college? Here you go." "Want help buying a house? Here you go." "Want more money because your 'baby daddy' not around? Here you go."

I come from a lower middle class background and have busted my ass and put myself through college (which I paid for myself). I have achieved financial security by living within my means and relying on myself; something many people have a hard time with. I'll be damned that when I start making a 6 figure income, I will be required to give some of that to a schlub only looking for a handout.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all about helping people (I HIGHLY applaud those that work their way out of poverty); it's those people not willing to help themselves that boil my blood.

On a sidenote: I'm sure the Republican party is banging their heads against every concrete wall they can find in the next few days because they pushed McCain and not Ron Paul several months ago.
I've got a feeling that the republican camps are going to need to go back to their core and clean up their act. This latest administration left a black eye on the party which I firmly believe worked in favor of the democratic party. Many people see the current state of the economy as a "Bush" problem, and since Bush is a republican the way to fix it is to get the other party in.

Oh well, here's to higher taxes and a weaker military! Hopefully "change" wasn't just a bunch of bullshit.

Who cares, it has full coop support and as long as that remains on the PC and works good its gold as far as I'm concerned.
My point exactly, the PC doesn't NEED to have better graphics because the core gameplay is fun. It would be nice to HAVE better graphics, but the gameplay is a good time even with the bugs it brings.

1. Mario and Zelda Oct 30, 2008, 10:45 CrimsonPaw

I have to agree with his statements; I've got both Mario and Zelda for the Wii and both of them are only half finished because there's no real compelling reason for me to go back to them.

I think if they could recapture that Mario 64 feel (get away from the gimmicky crap and back to the lands of Mario 1,2,and 3) they would be right on track. As for Zelda, get away from the "seek dungeon 1, go through dungeon 1 and get item 1, kill boss 1" crap and mix it up a little they could revitalize the franchise. The core mechanic in Zelda hasn't changed since it originated.

3. Re: Saints Row 2 PC in January Oct 30, 2008, 10:37 CrimsonPaw

Umm....let's hope not, because that would mean that it would suck them. The PC version should give PC gamers MUCH better quality and MUCH better performance. If not, then something is wrong and that something is Volition holding it back to not make the console versions look bad.
SR2 on the 360 may not be bug free, but it's fun as hell and runs smooth from what I've played. Can you explain to me why a PC NEEDS to run it "MUCH better" and make it look "MUCH better" than how it is on the consoles? The game is a blast and I don't regret it being a day 1 purchase for me, even on my shitty XBox 360.

If you want to try bringing people down, how about you hop over to NeoGAF or GameFAQ and post there.

That doesn't mean it's a bad game, I've been playing it on the 360 for like 3 weeks. I liked Oblivion, but it definitely DOES feel a lot like Oblivion with guns.
Dear Nefilim, I hope you get syphilis and die you pirate fuck!

For me, I'm going to stop by and actually BUY a copy like I have every other game for the past 10 years, but between this, Farcry 2, Saints Row 2, and LBP I'm set for the next 6 months.

Seems that the zombie bit in GTA is actually for the MP games where it'll change your skin to look zombified if you kill another player is "infected".

Consolisation ... WTF are they thinking. There is NOTHING good that can come of this since consoles are shit, fucking shit!

There hasn't been ONE FUCKING CONSOLE GAME that has been decent, NOT ONE!!! FUCK, this game WILL BE, and guaranteed to be, given no better than a 3.2 out of 10 for a metacritic score. Consoling DX, way to bastardize the fucking franchise. The graphics are going to be shit, the controls are going to be shit, the story will be shit, the name will be shit, and the box will be shit!!! SHIT, FUCK!!!!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?! Might as well call it Deus EX 3: The Console Piece of Shit. There's NO WAY this will be good, no fucking way!

To me, SR2 is more about this crazy world and GTA is more about reality. It's like comparing the movies "The Client" and "My Cousin Vinny"; both good flicks about the same thing (lawyers) but much different at the same time.

It's a good game and worth looking over its inadequacies.

Given the record for the past Spider Man games (Ultimate Spiderman, Spiderman 3, Spiderman: Friend or Foe) I would venture to guess that this one is going to be sucktastic. I personally hope it's not and reviews are glowing (we NEED a good SM game) but there are bigger titles to spend my $60 on.

I think if they drop the excessive pricing for participants and pass the cost to the attendees they'll see a resurgance of publishers. As for the economy, the video game market will survive; most people will forgo the $3000 vacation and I stead invest in less expensive home entertainment like games and movies.

I wonder how the delay will affect sales if at all. I'm thinking there will be some people on the fence about this and other games, Fallout 3 for example, and decide to go with Fallout 3 if LBP can't make it to market the same week.

SR2 looks to have a much better story than the original. Cool to see you're not just going up against gangs this time but a corporation that's trying to take you out. That trailer just made me more psyched for next week.
