Interesting, it's good to see that Sony can get the general timeframe right on the 3rd time. Many people say Home isn't that great but it's mostly due to the lack of people in the environment (so I've heard); wonder if opening it up will give people a new opinion of it.

You remind me of the jerks who refuse to talk about any automobile that is not made by company/country X. I will go play Uncharted on the PS3 now and hit up some Company of Heroes later on my PC and wonder what everyones problem is... I'm sure it has something to do with your inability to comprehend a controller, which is strange cause when I was a lad PC gamers were the guys that invested in 100 button Hotas setups for their sims... double stick and a dozen buttons is piss easy compared to that. Maybe y'all got a case of consolitis yourselves?
QFT, I'll be playing Burnout Paradise on the PS3 in the morning, GTA IV on the 360 in the afternoon, and play some BF2142 at night. It's all about the gaming experience and what fills your needs over a platform or brand.

Techie, you're an idiot, IMO a serious gamer is someone who pays attention to the industry on a daily basis and invests their money in that industry KNOWING what kind of investment they're making, not some dumbass that buys a game because the box looks cool. This doesn't matter if it's on a PC or a console.

I would say this makes sense since a majority of the NES kids (myself included) have grown up on gaming and now the Wii and Flash gaming are starting to hit the casual crowd. I'm 34 and have had almost every console out (the majors anyway, no 3DO or Jaguar sorry to say) and have been amazed at what each generation brings. I also have enjoyed PC gaming but haven't upgraded my rig in about 3 years, so for now I'm on a hiatus.

Kojima, how about you focus on making a great game versus an interactive movie. I liked MGS4, but at the end I had to push myself to complete it just to say I did. Oddly enough, I didn't feel this way about MGS3, the game I was LEAST psyched about in the series.

Not sure who's publishing it...they'd been talking about updating BB for awhile now and got really quiet this year, and I feared it'd been canceled. But now we get it and new content...
I want to say it's now Atari that's publishing it, but don't quote me on that.

Either way, it looks like it's set for a Q2 '09 release and I will be willing to put down a pre-order right now. I still have BB for the XBox and in the first 3 hours, the only thing I didn't like was going through the sewers right before getting your peeps shined.

Now I'm going to have to go into my son's room and put this in and play it since he has my original (launch) XBox in there.

3. Re: The Old Republic Action Figures & Comics? Dec 3, 2008, 11:22 CrimsonPaw

This doesn't surprise me at all considering they had figures for The Force Unleashed. The Old Republic sounds like an interesting concept but I can't bring myself to pay out the "per month fee" for a MMO.
give us Tie Fighter 2 already.
QFMFT; the only problem is that given their track record they'd probably fuck it up royally.

Hopefully they mix it up a little bit. The collecting was decent in LSW but became monotonous later on with Indy and Batman. Give us a free roaming lego world where we can build our own stuff, that would kick @ss!

I guess we'll have to wait for the games Rap Band or Hip Hop Hero to make their debut for everything to balance out. This argument is just dumb, I could give a shit less what "color" the main person is in my game. I enjoyed playing San Andreas as much, if not more, than playing Vice City and it didn't have a fucking thing to due with the color of the main character.

Anyone still playing this? I just rebuilt my machine and am thinking of putting it back on. The last I've heard is that the games are full of cheats and bots, but if anyone knows of a decent and reputable server I might give it a try.

I often feel like games are way too good of a deal. I once bought Conquest Frontier Wars for a single dollar at Circuit City. I played the game for over 100 hours. ONE PENNY per hour of entertainment!
Savor these games because they don't come along often. For me, Oblivion falls in this category; I'm 65 hours in and still have a LONG way to go (making at this point about $.30 per hour). Somewhat off topic, but as much as I love Oblivion, I'm not really able to get into Fallout 3. What's funny is a buddy at work was saying the same thing, not sure what it is, I just like the ES setting a little more (though we both agree that a VATS type system in the next ES would rock!).

400 bucks is still too much for a ps3. Dont I have to buy a special ps3 hdmi cable additionally too?
If you see it as just a gaming machine, then yes, it's too much. But if you see it as a Blu-ray player ($200) and a gaming machine ($200), then it is a decent value.

I think the thing is a very powerful machine for the money, too bad others can't see it as such.

you know I'm not exactly loving the new xbox interface. there's a longer wait for the pages to draw as stuff is loaded from the internet vs. the old "blade" interface. Not a deal-breaker though. Oh and the avatars are flatout childish. Copying disc games to hardrive is nice -- that gets a thumbs up.
I have to agree, I just want to play my games, not play dress up with my Mii 2. If I had Netflix I would be ecstatic, but at this point I'm not there yet. As for the disk copying, I'd be all over it if I didn't have a 20 GB HDD with only 11GB free. Too bad MS is trying to fuck over their consumers by raping them for a 120 GB drive.

I am so sick of hearing Nickelback songs. That lame photograph one played on the radio for over a year, every day, seemingly every time I turned on my car.
The only good Nickleback song is Leader of Man, back before they went soft. Anything after that just reaks of "I'm trying to sound angry but only come off as whining."

Wait a minute.... you're telling me if I leave my console on, it consumes more power than if I turn it off? Why has no one told me this before?!? Does this apply for other devices that run on electricity too?
Something tells me that there was federal grant money used for this research. Next up: People who play console FPSs for extended periods of time get hand cramps.

Well I finally made the jump awile back and picked up a PS3, my first console since the Intellivision. I got my typical console type games, Tiger Woods, NHL, R&C, DiRT, GTA which are great for joysticks and I got my PC for FPS, RTS and 4X games. I took a chance and grabbed Bioshock for the PS3 and I was not dissapionted, turned sensitivity up and killed autoaim. Totally sucked for awile but eventually got the hang of it and am getting pretty good, playing on the couch with a 52" HDTV and my 7.1 surround is so sweet, my PC has some competition now when I am looking at FPS games.
And if you're looking for a true mouse/kb FPS, pick up Unreal Tournament 3 for the PS3, though I'm not sure how many rooms allow for m/k combo.

Edit: whoops, forgot the closing quote bracket.

16. Re: Deus Ex 3 Concept Art & Plot Nov 18, 2008, 15:24 CrimsonPaw

There hasn't really been enough information presented on this game to really get a good sense of where they are going with it yet. If it sucks I'll be the first person to throw a stone.
I agree, there is very little to go on, but you have to admit that even this small dose screams of WTF? There's plenty of time for them to change the plot line, but if they don't, here's what I expect:

Tutorial starts out as you being a security guard. After the tutorial level the offices get stormed in a cut scene viewed from Adam Jensen's perspective. When he wakes up he finds everyone dead except for a scientist that hooks you up with your first enhancements and acts as your mission hub from here on out (like the agency in the first). At this point you start tracking down the guys who did it and it leads to a worldwide conspiracy that you are able to thwart.

But please, don't let common sense interrupt your slobbering glee at another company to troll.
Yes, common sense says that if I was a lowly security guard for a company that just got shot up with most of my co-workers dead, I would get THE FUCK OUT, not try to hunt down the guys who did it. Shit, at least give us something to the effect of the Punisher and say that it was a family owned business and your family died and now you want revenge.

I'm not trolling, I'm just annoyed that story seems to take a backseat in many games anymore. And BTW, the original DX's plot, summed up in 3 sentences, would have made it sound much more interesting than the plot summary we're given here.

3. Re: Deus Ex 3 Concept Art & Plot Nov 18, 2008, 12:15 CrimsonPaw

The game takes place in the year 2027 and the main character Adam Jensen is a security guard at a biotech company called Sarif. One day the offices are stormed by men in black and almost everyone is killed... almost. Jensen survives and makes it his business to find out what has been going on (because most security guards would give a shit after everyone died).
I would like to see the 8 year old who came up with this plot line. This tells me that they don't have a good writer and puts me in the mindset of "this game is going to suck." I don't want to be there since I loved the original DX, but this is not looking favorable.

I am one of those guys that really can't stand the bond films, even the older ones. I will say, though, that Casino Royal was the first Bond flick that made me say "that was a great movie." I think that has to do with the recent direction of "established" franchises where they are showing the roots of hero; that and the Craig bond actually had flaws which was a welcomed surprise.

I'm not sure I'll be going to the theaters to see Quantum, but I'll definitely be catching it on DVD or Amazon Unbox.
