31. Re: QuakeWorld Aug 3, 2005, 16:19 Caspar Nielsen

In 1996 there was no market or services to make that plan possible I believe. But never the less, a good plan and a future plan as he said, but they never went for it because of the development.

Me too, I'm feeling old - 9 years since I started playing it! I stil got my original Quake box on my desk and I love playing it. I attending a Lan-party this month, and QuakeWorld will get loads of time.

9 more years

"If it looks feasable, I would like to see internet focused gaming become a justifiable biz direction for us. Its definately cool, but it is uncertain if people can actually make money at it. My halfway thought out proposal for a biz plan is that we let anyone play the game as an anonymous newbie to see if they like it, but to get their name registered and get on the ranking list, they need to pay $10 or so. Newbies would be automatically kicked from servers if a paying customer wants to get on. Sound reasonable?" - John Carmack 3rd of June 1996.

45. Quake, Blue's and Romero Jul 13, 2005, 14:47 Caspar Nielsen

Romero, Quake and Blue's News grew up together. It's indeed news for everyone who were here when it started.

Romero did wonderful things with Quake, and that makes him cool in my book.

As for his personal life, I don't care. But it's nice for him, that things are going well.

San Andreas is a wonderful game. There are so many great things in it. Good story, great characters and voice acting. The car feeling and the large-scale map! I'm amazed and I can't wait for the next generation GTA!

I would like multiplayer options and not nessicerily for the Internet, but rather put the focus on LAN and co-operative play.

I'm heading back in homies!

71. Re: Less than stellar... May 21, 2005, 15:39 Caspar Nielsen

I just want to say some words in support of Blue's News.

I've been reading this web site ever since the dawn of Quake 1, and I love it. It's beena great online gaming resource for me. It's the one place (Together with Shacknews) that I know I get my gaming news on a simple frontpage, and it has always been like that. PS. The 'out of the blue' is great too.

I've been happy with your coverage of E3 this year, as I've always been with your previous years. It's nice to have someone sort out all the news, so your time is very much appreciated.

I would like to pay you money, so I could view your website without advertisement. That's my only burden.

So, for 10 more years of Blue's News I hope.

FlatOut looks like a killer. Have you seen the technology videos? Those are great.

I can't wait to take on 'destruction derby' with my friends.

The airplane dropping napalm is beautiful in terms of graphics. Men of Valor is certainly looking great; I hope the looks reflect the gameplay.

14. No sex ? Aug 23, 2004, 19:28 Caspar Nielsen

I would only play this game to see these sims have sex. If that's not a feature, I'm not buying.

It'd be great if you could shoot adult movies too with this as a job for your sim.

I consider my 20 GB collection of electronic music to be quite important. I enjoy the fruits of the DVD.

The Reaper Bots made it possible for me to enter large scale deathmatches without being connected to the Internet. Back then I paid per minute and my connection was slow as ever. I found the artificial intellignence in the Reapers great for such a small modification. Good days.

31. Carmageddon Multiplayer with Win 2k... Aug 18, 2004, 16:31 Caspar Nielsen

I'm trying to get some Carmageddon (http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=3716) multi-player going with a friend of mine, but it won't work. Last time I remember playing it on a LAN must have been on operating system Windows 95 or 98.

Now I got Win 2k, and when I hit new network game in the menu, I get told "Sorry, network play is not available (Check cables, drivers, etc...). I guess my problem is Win 2k, but have anyone had it working with 2k?

The game it self I can run, and it's great despite the now poor graphics. But I remember it most for its multi-player mayhem. Any help is appreciated.

22. 3D Realms still working on Duke. Aug 17, 2004, 13:46 Caspar Nielsen

Upon browsing the web today I ran across the web site of 3D Realms, and this is what they posted the 13th august 11:45 am:

Yeah, we're still here. We've had a few emails wondering what was going on, as we haven't had any updates to the website for awhile. We've all been busy working, so never fear, Duke is still here.

6. GTA San Andreas in May 2005 for PC. Aug 17, 2004, 11:00 Caspar Nielsen

Is anyone else looking forward to the PC release of this?

With 3 large cities (Las Vegas, San Francisco and Los Angeles in a GTA buildup.) and the desert between them, in which you can roam too, this will be huge. Not to mention ragdoll physics, role playing elements and so forth.

To me the PS2 release this october holds no interest though.
