This game reminds me of the old Tribes games. Looking forward to giving this a shot. Looks like a lot of fun.

Anybody know how open this world is? I was a little (lot) disappointed in some of the beginning areas of SWTOR. The space felt very confined. I understand they do this to properly push the story aspect but I'm just a fan of big, open worlds to explore (loving Skyrim). WoW initially gave me this "big world to explore" feeling.

And ya, I'm aware that SWTOR does get "bigger" as you level.

Skyrim is the best game I've played in many, many years. Sure I have my gripes (UI, scaled loot, inventory management in general... come on mannequin/grid mod!), but nothing that keeps me from enjoying this game a ton.

Congrats to them on their award and all the awards coming their way.

Now next time just employ a small team to do the UI/inventory for the PC and you'll be declared saints.

Reading this makes me feel so inadequate as a PC gamer. I have to start spending some more cash!

Oh if only I had the time to actually play more.

Scotch... went through a bottle of Glenmorangie 18yo and a friends left over Johnny Walker Blue. Loved the Glen, was not at all impressed with the Blue. I swear it's one of my least favorite scotches I've tried. Can't figure out the price on that one. I wouldn't pay $15 let alone $200 for the bottle.

Yawn... What a waste. This game will hit, fail, and the developers will be surprised. Stunning.

I thought Oblivion was alright, at best, very ugly and clunky.
Fallout 3 and New Vegas I just couldn't get into, the animation in both was still as garbage as it was in Oblivion.

Suffice to say I was very reluctant to buy Skyrim, but saw everyone on my Steam list playing it, which I hadn't seen for a new game in awhile.

So I bought it yesterday evening. Got it downloaded and started playing around 10pm figuring I'd get out of the starting area and head to bed.

4am, I go to bed, can barely sleep, and now I'm going to be late to work.

Fuck you Skyrim. (It's a great game, animations and character models vastly better. I'm really impressed)

Boy that sounds familiar. I was very disappointed with Oblivion (level scaling killed it instantly for me and didn't go back when the community mods came out), enjoyed FO3 but couldn't get that into it, and therefore didn't even try FO;NV...but I love Skyrim. It's been a very long time since I've gotten this into a game.

I'm not happy with the UI (please give me my good 'ole doll/grid inventory!), and I think the loot system scaling is poor. However, the game is great enough that I'll happily wait for the mods.

Only one CTD, and a few animals dropping from the sky, and loot hanging in mid air are the only bugs I've encountered so far.

Running on an old e8400, gtx280 machine on high with no major frame rate issues.

Good News

(for those of you who don't get it, darN is making progress is deciphering the new UI setup.)

Edit : Common Sense. Bethesda does not have it.

Creston

Great summary of the UI issues there. Maybe I'm too old school but it seems like an RPG like Skyrim is just crying out for a doll/grid inventory system.

Oh well, love the game and am looking forward to the UI mods.

I'm going to bed and waking up thinking about things to do in this game and I know I've only scratched the surface so far. I'm now an obsessive flower picker/butterfly murderer playing with alchemy.

Playing my old e8400, gtx280 at 1920x1200 on high settings with NO problems. My wife is even peeking over my shoulder making comments about how "pretty" the game looks. I find myself looking for places with a nice view.

Having a GREAT time with this game so far.

Not only that, I'm playing it on my old, E8400, GTX280(with updated drivers of course), 4GB RAM. The game picked high settings and I haven't bothered tweaking that yet as it looks great. I imagine further driver updates will improve it more.

I was really getting worried about having to upgrade before the 7xxx series cards got here early next year but now I'm just going to wait until the 7xxx/6xx wars figure themselves out and upgrade then. The only other game I'm even going to try is SWTOR and my good 'ole gtx280 will hold up just fine.

My one gripe with Skyrim so far... ya, the UI. It's not like it's totally broken, but developers really, REALLY need to just accept the fact that mouse/keyboard and console controllers are far too different to attempt to combine. If the mod community can do it relatively quickly , why can't the developer? I think they must get blinded by the console controller UI having to work so much with it and truly think the PC UI seems natural and good. It isn't.

For some reason I wanted a physical copy so I sent my wife out to get one.

She stopped to pick it up for me (I'm stuck at work) at Best Buy...they're sold out. Sold out before 10am apparently. She ran over to GameStop and sure enough, one copy left. It was being held by an employee behind the counter "for a friend." His boss made him give it up for my wife to purchase! I found a strange sense of guilt and glee when she told me. Kind of like I stole a kids lunch money, but he was a bully anyway.

Stuck at work for another 5 hours or so and reading these first impressions is driving me crazy. Can't wait to give it a go.

God I hope not! I want the feel of a walking, giant tank. If crouching or laying down is a long, complicated process, I might go for it... like setting up defensively before an expected attack... but not something you would do quickly in the middle of battle.

$2800... really? REALLY?! Marketed for those of us that like to sit on the couch, play our favorite games (only for a year or two because all the hardware in this overpriced POS will quickly be out of date), and toss packets of $100's into the fireplace for some warmth and ambiance.

Sooo, marketing to get you to rush out and pre-order? I can't believe they would limit the amount of sales. Something tells me if you want to buy a copy, it will be available.

To tell you the truth I have my doubts about any online game anymore. They all end up being the same thing, raid the same 5 dungeons for months on end, fight in the same 5 warfronts / battlegrounds for months do these same 20 dailys for months on end.

This is what I'm afraid of. I'm really hoping SWTOR will recapture some of the interest I had in early WoW. Something tells me it won't, not because the quality of the game, but because the nature of MMORPGs has gotten SO stale. With any luck, the new atmosphere and fresh start will keep my interest high. If not, there are certainly a number of great looking games on the way!

The game is fucking fantastic. Did you actually play it?

You dare question the authority of Reagle? Better watch yourself. He'll own your ass in CoD.

Yes, if someone doesn't like your indie darling game it must therefore mean he;s a CoD nerd.

Can we stop making that assumption? Every idiot that hears me say I hate Minecraft pulls that shit, and the only thing I hate more than Minecraft are military FPS games.

I've always thought of the Diablo series as single player games with a multi player option. Starcraft 2 as well. It's funny, to me anyway, seeing many (most actually) think of it as multiplayer first. I do plan on exploring the MP option more on D3, however, as it seems like the game is really being pushed as MP first, SP second.
