Rule of 5?

It's usually the Rule of 3. It's a simple game design formula. Kill X amount of enemies Y amount of times.

In STO's case, it was always 3 groups of 3 ships in space, go to planet and kill, usually, 5 groups of 5 guys. Then, you'll go back to space and kill 3 more groups of 3 ships.

You could see it in almost every single mission.

Is STO fun to play yet? I wanted to play it, but after I got in the beta and tried it out the game was just weak.

No. It's still generic, it's still the Rule of 5 and it's still boring.

Or import them in to the game so there is more visual diversity.

Blue, when are we going to be able to dole out +rep, huh? ;-)

Hopefully never.

Bluesnews is one of the last bastions who hasn't followed the retarded herd mentality of group bloc voting. That shit needs to stay on Digg and Buzzfeed where it belongs.

Found a downside.

Works great in Windows, not at all on Linux.

Bummer.

Even their web-based "training" is pretty impressive. I understand what you're saying about the weapon's behavior.

What it does is accurately vibrate and climb in regards to how you visually process the your aim and the position of the barrel.

I'd love to try this. Guess I'll have to wait until it comes out someplace other than Steam.

Hmmm...I think Blue started with the 4th of July beer festivities a might early.

Though I've no room to truly speak. I've toasted the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution already.

I believe, some time ago, someone worked on expanding HW2 up to 1900x1200. It was out for a while but I don't think the original HW was ever worked on.

Every time a headline like this comes up, I read it as "Homeworld" and get all excited.

Then I found it that it's nothing more than yet another shitty FPS.

Did they fix the problem that if you had more than one monitor plugged in, it would load solely to a black screen?

13. Re: Jane's Advanced Strike Fighters Jun 29, 2010, 08:22 Burrito of Peace

This game looks like a sacrilege to the original games that bore the Jane's name.

Sure, the screenshots are pretty but the video was a let down. Air superiority fighters doing ground pounding missions? Right, because that's clearly the best use of that asset.

Where's the Phantom flying low and fast, laughing at the SAMs, doing Wild Weasel duty?

Including the word "console" automatically rules out the use of the word "simulation". They are mutually exclusive of one another.

Though, I'd love to see a remake of Strike Commander done. That would own.

How many games over the years had horseback riding? How many come close to RDR to capturing the reality of it like they do? None.

Except the horseback riding in RDR is nothing like riding a real horse. It's exactly like what someone who's never ridden a horse thinks riding a horse is like.

RDR is not a game, it's a showcase for game mechanics. Game mechanics that are, in many ways, badly broken (Donkey Woman, Cougar Midget Man, Pegasus the Flying Horse and its carriage, the flying people, the Exorcist Stagecoach driver, etc). Fanboyism does not equate to quality. Look at the Halo series. Compared to other FPSes, the Halo series sucks and is about 15 year behind the curve of current FPS gameplay. Yet, because of its fanbase filled with teenagers, jocks, frat boys and the mentally retarded, it's a franchise that sells in the millions.

Since none of us have ever lived in a post-apocalyptic wasteland that is the direct result of nuclear war with technology that seems to solely extend from the understanding of science in the 1950s, it's pretty damned hard to say "Well, this isn't realistic enough" or "X, Y and Z wouldn't be like that".

You're not making the game. In fact, they're probably far past the point in development where any nerdraging, whining and bitching would even remotely do any good. More to the point, learn how to mod the game so you can make it be your wonderful, special, magical, perfect cup of tea flavored just the way you like it.

Sweet! Only six YEARS after the PC version was released!

It must be awesome to own a Mac. "It just works"...because nothing is available to run on it that doesn't start with the letter "i".

Too bad the music for this game sucks, based upon the blog post she made featuring samples for it.

Lady, here's a clue, they're still "local bands" because they suck. You being their first, live, record-wanting client is a bad sign.
