Was boring and lifeless fucking awesome. rehashed yet less compelling than the predecessors it tried to ape.

"No" has always been the verbal cue to stop everything immediately with my dogs. With the Chow Chow, that took longer than usual to teach her because while she's not overly aggressive, she is very assertive in protecting her territorial boundaries and her "pack". Also, I do not live in an urban or even a suburban environment. Any other non-family canines she is likely to meet on the property are going to be either coyotes or feral dogs, both of which are rightly considered threats. I think that, the environment, makes a massive difference in both the approach to, and the reasons for, training.

Thunderdome. The right way is ALWAYS Thunderdome.

Seriously, though, I was taught to step in, take control of my dog's head and become the alpha immediately with a firm, commanding "NO!" It's worked with my German Shepherd I had growing up and my Chow-Chow that I have as an adult.

Guess we'll never see that Homeworld 3 sequel they vaguely hinted at last year.

How is that confusing?

Because Granny Smith/Mom Smith has no idea what the fuck any of that means when they are buying games for little Billy. In fact, the people who actually know the specifics of their machines are a very, very small margin in the worldwide computer ownership numbers. Most people will say "It has Windows" or "It's a Dell"...because all they know are name brands.

Ergo, this, and any, attempt at a technical standard will fall flat on its face.

We had this years ago when I first entered the hardware engineering field, it was called the MPC Standard and it also had levels.

It fell by the wayside then and it will do so now. Manufacturers don't give a rat's ass about maintaining a standard when they can coerce encourage you to buy their name brand over and over.

...I just prefer if what they did was less what they do now and more of what some written books do, challenging people's fixes beliefs.

When challenging people's fixed beliefs doesn't involve risking 20-100 million dollars, risk angering shareholders, risk angering distribution partners and risk, more importantly, angering your fickle customer base who gives you billions of dollars every year, then you'll see games become sociological reform platforms.

Granted, I am sure someone can dig up an indie game somewhere that does this, but that doesn't grab the attention or sales that Call of Black Halo Duty Ops XLVI: War Gear Edition does. Such is the nature of the business and no one is going to change that business so long as it IS a business.

Yeah, sure, because the demographic who plays Simcity gives a shit about the "standings" of the guy in the next town over.

What's with all forced attempts at hypercompetivity lately in areas that just aren't competitive by nature? Next, I expect supermarkets to let me know who's the fastest at getting the TP from the shelf to the cart. Who actually gives a fuck?

Stick to Acronis or Ghost.

Ghost sucks cock. Try Clonezilla. Free and works amazingly well. We use it here to reimage hundreds of machines at a pop.

It can't be any better than Kerbal Space Program. That game is amazing! I've put in well over a thousand hours into it! Many kerbals have died to bring you this information.

KSP is an amazing, fun game with a great, helpful community and a very mod friendly development team. I have taken my Kerbals to the outer planet, landed upon it, strutted around and returned home safely. It was the one hardest things I've ever done in a game and also one of the most satisfying.
