I think it's fair for Internet retailers to be sales taxed at this point. The only real reason they were not taxed to begin with was to foster their growth. That was like 15 years ago. Today Internet retailers have a very healthy presence and their tax free status seems to be an unfair advantage over other B&M retailers.

As for Amazon not using government services and thus not deserving of taxation, I don't think sales tax is about that anymore, if it has ever been. I'm pretty sure hundreds of small B&M businesses pay sales taxes in my local area despite using even less government services than Amazon does.

Wow, how can the Quebec government pay 37.5% of people's salaries at game companies?

Apparently the game industry is much more socialist than I thought.

whatever happened to the sinking of that submarine or ship a while back? I thought the evidence all pointed to North Korea sinking a South Korean ship, but nothing happened

According to Game Developer magazine's annual salary surveys, most video game employees are making $60-100k a year. Profits or no, things seem to be working out pretty well for them.

The running animation does seem really boring... like the character is just jogging along casually.

The "sword in front of face" stuff seems just like Viggo Mortensen's actions in the movies though. I guess they wanted to emulate that no matter how weird that may be.

I still hope the game is fun! I thought Project Snowblind was pretty cool..

Have games really been all that patriotic? Most of the popular war games seem "right of center" but nothing too overt. Frankly, they are too superficial to really take seriously.

The games that try to be somewhat serious all seem to be left-wing or left of center though. Assassin's Creed, Metal Gear, and Deus Ex for example. Dear Lord... in Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, Mao Tse-Tung is revealed to be a member of the Assassins (ie the good guys), while all the right-wing Supreme Court justices are members of the Templars (bad guys). According to the game, Harry Dexter White, who was a Soviet spy within the US government in the 1940s, was also a mild "good guy", as he betrayed the US government (Templars) in favor of the Communists. So weird.

But the US military is an all volunteer force, so if someone joins the military and ends up fighting in a war that is seen as unjust later, then it makes SOME sense that the soldier is looked down upon later too. The average American who opposes a war still pays taxes into the war, but that is still a big difference between shooting a gun in that war.

Right now a lot of people have similar views about many politicians, welfare queens, illegal immigrants, and bankers. People who are voluntarily doing something "wrong" and being looked down upon for it.

If you're frustrated with how people generalize whole groups, not being specific and seeing what the individual's role really was in any wrong doing.. that I can understand. But hey, if you can find a cure for that, then you've cured all racism, sexism, religious intolerance and have probably brought about World Peace Eternal.

Interesting stuff from Milius:

here's Milius on stopping murderous drug traffickers in Mexico: "We need to go down there, kill them all, flatten the place with bulldozers so when you wake up in the morning, there's nothing there," he said in a phone interview. "I do believe if you have a military, you use it."

Or Rush Limbaugh: "I was watching Rush Limbaugh the other night, and I was horrified. I would have Rush Limbaugh drawn and quartered. He was sticking up for these Wall Street pigs. There should be public show trials, mass denunciations and executions."
