These KAOS Studios guys are interesting. In the Frontlines Fuel of War game, some Gamespot forum posters thought the "war diary" messages at the loading screens of the game were a bit too left-wing sounding. Some of the messages talk about how when the oil ran out on the Frontlines universe, the poor were hit the hardest first, and many soldiers apparently saw themselves as poor people being used by the rich.. like pawns in their war for the remaining oil supplies. Something like that anyway.
Now they got this game coming which has the US economy collapsing to the point that North Korea is a threat. I find the idea strange too. If the US economy is gone, surely some other nations closer to North Korea are having economic problems too, and with far less military power. (The US has 30%+ of all military power in the world, and much of that 30% is far superior in terms of technology than the remaining 70%.) Has North Korea just ignored those easier targets and gone for the most difficult target of them all?
I think it would be interesting if the North Korean military was portrayed as having invented some kind of amazing military power that instantly shifted power to their favor. The US achieving stealth plane technology shifted things enormously, for example. Haha, I would love to see the story say that the North Korean military used Heavy Gear-like robots to invade.

*nods in agreement* L4D, to me, is a video game based on a movie (or in this case, a genre of movies). Movies based on games suck, and games based on movies suck

| :O I'm surprised people don't like the new system for these kind of reasons. It's pretty common for FPS games to have an unlock system of some sort! This game is the first I know of to base it on time and not kills (XP) though. |

I wish the items would take into account past play time. If a new player hops in at 0:00 game play time, then sure, I can see how fun it is to unlock items as you start to play. But I have at least 50 hours of game time. But the game sees me and a noob as exactly the same, as far as unlocks go.

Yeah the controls were a mess in island capture mode, I thought. In order to select a base, you hit Left Bumper. Then you must stop using the left joystick, and use the D-pad to navigate through the menu. This makes no sense. Why not just use the left joystick? When the LB menu is open, the left joystick cannot do anything, since all button presses are now routed to the menu.
I was really excited for this game, but the demo really soured me on it. I still want to try the full game because of my interest for the pacific air war, but the demo totally fell short of my expectations.. |
