worth it in what sense? you can download the sales puitch from the publisher faster? Demos are a sales pitch. Nothing wrong with that, but why would you pay to be marketed at? The whole idea of paying to get a demo in any sense is madness. Any company worth a bean is desperate for you to get hold of their demo. They should make it quick, free and hassle-free to try their games. I know that's my attitude, but then I don't make insanely huge demos packed with FMV |

this is all very well, but what time is this in GMT?, you know, the world time system that goes back hundreds of years... the majority of the world don't use EST or PCT or PMT or whatever the rest of them are. bah. |

| yeah we get it, this is not your favourite genre. But as it goes, the demo of this game was really good fun. Its a well made and entertaining game. Much more so than "generic cyberpunk shooter IX" |

or the humble car. 3200 people a year are killed in road accidents in the UK (pop 50 mill) EVERY year. That's about the same number as died on 9/11. Terrorism is less likely to kill you than not paying attention to the road. |

In theory yes, but only being able to be a member of starfleet? sheesh. At least let me be a ferengi. The main objective of large licensed MMOs is to generate as much cash as they can from expansion packs. I'm not buying a game, grinding for a year amnd hoping for a chance to pay even mroe for the characters I wanted in the first place. A pity really, star trek MMO could really be cool. |

they don't seem to be doing a demo. last game I wanted that pulled that trick was star trek : legacy. What twats. They just lost a day 1 sale. I've seen a lot of mocked-up, heavily staged screenshots of this game, but I want to give it a try before they get my cash. |

yup, that website sucks. took ages to load, all flash, and the screenshots are like postage stamps. Someone needs to fire the web marketing department. I *do* like the idea of an MMO RTS, someone else tried it many years ago (can't remember the name, but I had it demo'ed to me at a trade show). There was also going to be one by stardock, called society. In practice though, the 'booster pack' idea is nonsense. I'm all for tiered charging based on time played, but for better units? wtf? How long until I can stick lasers on my tank in Battlefield 2 if I pay an extra 20 dollars? |

indeed. I'm sick of the sims now (sick enough to have made my own sort of life-sim game), but millions of people aren't right now, the number 1 selling PC game in the Uk is the sims open for business. many millions of people love these games, preferring them to world of warcraft or BF2142. Those people don't read blues news, or probably don't post on any gamer forums, but they are gamers nonetheless. I'm pretty sick of WW2 RTS games, and 'dystopian survival-horror-cyberpunk-scifi-FPS' bullshit that every game seems to be these days. And laptop-friendly is a good thing. Not every game needs a cutting edge video card. |

FMV in the demo? FFS |

Thank god they padded the demo with crappy FMV. That managed to get that demo up to a penis-expanding 800 MB and ensures people like me who hadn't heard of the game just won't bother. what's wrong with people? have the marketing droids not *seen* the statistics for that %tage of us with 4MB+ broadband? |

maybe. except people have touted this as revolutionary for well over 10 years. Remember red faction? it died without trace, but i remember people going 'ooh' and 'ahh' at the ECTS demo before the game was finished, at which point as usual, most of that feature was removed. Maybe its just totally incompatible with games. |

I REALLY want this to be a l33t game, but man.... its been in dev for 3,000 years now and I'm sick of hearing about it. I'll give it a try the day its released, but wtf is taking them so long? It would have been better for all concerned not to mention the game until 6 months or less to go. |

It does seem to be pretty cool from the demo, I'm on the fence about buying it. I wish these things were isometric though. 3d adds zilch to a game like this, and not having a totally free camera is so frustrating for when you *might* want to zoom in for whatever reason. I wish you could adjust the game speed though, especially at the start |
