Indeed. And if you don't do that, you pay someone else to actually play the game on your behalf in China. I just don't get what's so much fun about grindfest MMOs. There was such great potential for online persistent worlds, and they turned them into the most tedious genre ever devised. *sigh* |

Well said. I don't use DRM any more, but when I did, I never had a single complaint. Ever. 99% of users have no problems with DRM. the 1% who do are very vocal. The flipside is that DRM doesn't work, and you should give customers what they want. But 99% of people claiming they will 'cancel their pre-order' never pre-ordered the game. It just sounds good |

| if you torrent it, you make their point, not yours. You just prove that piracy is a problem on the PC. If you want to make a stand against DRM, that's fine, but don't pirate the game, that undermines your point. |

| Chalk me up as another potential buyer if there is a demo. Its sad so many games don't have one, because at the right price point, bought online with a decent demo, this could be a decent seller for people like me addicted to Company Of heroes. |

"The DRM is the "root" cause of the problems with the patch. "
says who? You have seen the source code and debugged these issues personally? |

| agreed. limiting the user accounts is insane. And why not limit the activations to 3 per 6 months or something? that way the games resell value is still there and nobody need fear running out. |

probably because 99% of buyers don't reformat their PC, and tire of a game after a few months. I only installed bioshock once, never finished it, ditto half life 2. It really doesn't bother me that installs are limited, until you call the publisher. I understand why this annoys *some* customers, but those who argue about it the most need to realise they are a tiny minority of gamers, even if they are a majority of people who spend all their time posting on digg. |

as an indie game dev myself, I'm guessing about 4 to 5 times as much. So they are getting a 50/50 split between retail and online. It could even be stronger than that, I know I get about 8 times more per sale from online vs retail. |

it is trivial. given the power requirements of video cards it would make a much bigger difference if they just promoted budget and older games more than stuff like crysis. Not that I want them to do that as such. Of course the real carbon saving happens if everyone buys games direct on-line instead of having boxes pointlessly shipped around the world to stores... |
