Absolutly scary subject and that BBC article sums up the Horizon program midweek. In short simple terms were f*****!

We cant stop pumping more polutants in the air as the global dimming will stop and the greenhouse effect will he in full force, while we cant continue as we will just end up with the problem getting far far worse in a century + time.

This game has been bugging me as its been the sponser of Battlestar Galatica in the UK and never heard of it elsewhere, but having it shown at you 4 times an hour makes you remember the name. At least I know what it is now...

BTW. Battlestar Galactica is a definate must see... you people in the US are in for a treat its a really great series. Probably the best Sci-fi series ever, even better than Firefly. Just dont go expecting the original, its very very different.

Err you must of been playing a different EQ2 than the rest of us. EQ2's release has been flawless apart from SoE screwing us Europeans and now trying to make it up to us with servers with patch times to suit Europeons.

I have not experienced one bug yet with EQ2, which is damn impressive for a brand new MMO especially given it is easily the most complicated MMO ever released,

Just shows how effective steam is, in the ablitiy to send patches to people on a almost daily basis. It is the future, even though a vocal minority hate it with a passion.

Damn this will be one scarey game ... Elder Scrolls Setting + Photo Realistic Graphics that the next gen consoles have ... could be amazing. Just hope they dont just focus on porting the Morrowind engine to the next gen consoles / 2006 uber PC's and add some new imaginative ideas ... like they did with all the previous ones in the series.

Although one request as has been mentioned no more fecking cliff racers! Stupidist Mob ever!

Took them Long enough!!! Was a year ago they were using the engine of the game on BBC2 in the UK.

Why do all these good games have to come at the same time ... when bar Far Cry the rest of the year has been so pants for PC games.

Okay I finally was able to join a CSS server and I've figured out why performance is so much better than Doom 3: it doesn't look nearly as good. While there are some cool particle and shader effects for the most part this could just as easily be a Quake III engine game. That's not to say it looks bad, just that the graphics in CSS arn't a huge leap past the graphics in CSCZ. For the most part CSS is just a slight improvement in graphics coupled with a floatier feel than the original CS.

Have you been looking at the same game as the rest of us ??? Slight improvement in graphics ??? its got about the best graphics engine there is... it beats Doom 3 on lighting for god sake its supposidly strong point, and has particle effects that are astounding real. Texture quality is good but not great looks close to real but just not there which when you take the rest of the engine in comparison is a let down

All in all the Source engine is a great engine, which if its as scalable as Valve say could easily become the standard graphics engine.

Worked perfectly for me got 87.5 fps on the test and plays like a dream. No crashes as of yet. Amazing game, great graphics and the grenade effects are truely astounding - especially the smoke + muzzle flash you just have to see it to believe it.

Plays just like old CS but with physics and amazing graphics...

MK7 for XBox and PS2. As usual, there's no love for the gamecube. sigh.

Its for the PS3 and XBox2, and the wireless handheld is probably the GBA 2 screen / semi-replacement thing (whose name escapes me).

Long way off for this game anyway - 2006 or even 2007.

Given that the graphics on the PS3 and Xbox will be near life like wonder if they will tone down the killing moves.

what i ment is if your team/clan/outfit whatever takes over a certain peice of land, do you get any benefits from this? how hard is it to getback/defend?

Every Base has a job now - Tech plants give access to tanks, etc... So holding onto bases is crucial to win the contanent. In the course of a content battle sides will often launch special assault missions to take out the generators on certain bases so that the enemy loses the benefit of the base while the gen is down.

Difficulty is all dependent on how many are on either side at the specific point e.g. if 100 people are defending a tower its going to be a lot harder to take than if 20 are.

also does the area change visually? not just flag colors.

No dynamic changes to the maps. Its not possible with today’s machinery with the amount of players involved.

As for the Lag that existed back in the early days yup completely gone. As I said there really isn't any problem’s now with this game it is astounding what a good job they have done in a year. Just glad I re-found it 2 months ago as enjoyed it every week since.

Another returner to Planetside here just backing up what the previous poster is saying. It really has changed a lot in a year, and is a pretty unique and amazing game. Lots of stuff just coming out now - new small maps (Battle Islands), new Vehicles including the BFR's (small / 20 meter high Mechs), and new Bases, and a lot of other things.

It is a great FPS if you like your FPS's with lots of people rather than Deathmatch style. No bugs to speak of, Dev's that listen, its a great MMO and a great FPS.

As to an end goal, still isn't a defined one as such although you can completely unbase the enemy which is sort of winning :-) Doubt there can ever be an end goal as its a MMO's and the one we have now is as close as it can get, even if this one wasn't designed.

Why has this game taken so long to be shipped to the US i dont know...

Absolutly great game! So simple but very addictive and so fun multiplayer.

Is bizarre though been out in the UK now must be 6 months, even seen copies for £7.99 as it didn't sell well as it had no advertising and if you look at the screenshots it looks like a dodgy budget title.

Isn't $500 dollars not that far off what the PS2 debued at anyway? Not an American so dont know the exact figures... But guessing was around $400 dollars.

Given that Sony's strategy for the standard PS3 needs a harddrive as they cant possibly stream the content constantly it has to be stored locally once downloaded.

Also I thought Sony is looking at many different spec options for the PS3 making any pricing guesses at this stage pointless given they could well do a 'cheap' PS3 that is just 1 cell chip and a DVD drive, while the proper has 2/4 Cells, DVD drive and Hard Drive, etc.... is all just pure speculation at the moment given its probably so far out till even the working prototype is complete.

Nah turned based is bad... the silly named SAS system that Aftermath used worked pretty damn well.

Was one of the few good things about aftermath, and does seem they have learn't what was bad. The whole Q&A was almost a list of issues for Aftermath...

Just hope it lives up to the promise as if it does it could end up being a classic.
