As far as i remember, Blizzard is not working on Ghost, Nihilistic is.

One team is currently concentrated on WoW, wanna guess what the other team is doing ?

"Still can't beat Ground Control 2 for actually using tactics in battle"

Try to battle the AI on the harder difficoulties, and see if you can win without using actual tactics in the field.

Bleh, i hated AoE and it's spawn, but RoN rocked the house

"unless Vivendi had a contract about the authentication process as well, of course."

Well, the thing is that Valve only made one version of the game : the steam version.

While an online authentication process is obviously liable to problems, it's the only way they can verify downloaded software.

Without it, anybody could just buy the game once and then it's free HL2 for the whole neightboor.

The only problem is :

1) Why did Vivendi had to package the game with traditional copy protection when the game still needed to be authenticated ?!?

2) Why didn't Valve set up an activation by phone ?!?

"Your rationale for this big pile of urine called steam doesn't quite make sense - unless you can purchase HL2 for $12 dollars on steam, thereby QUADRUPLING valve's profit on each sale --- Wait - how much is HL2 on steam?"

In case you didn't know, Vivendi won't allow them to sell the game below retail price.

"If they wanted to avoid the costs of putting Half-Life 2 on the shelves, they could have simply sold direct to the online customer (only)"

They are still bound with Vivendi by contract, in case you haven't noticed...

"Yet for some reason the game STILL costs $49.99."

As ironic as that may sound, Vivendi has dictated that Valve cannot sell the game from Steam for less then retail price...

"From the reviews I have seen so far this is the number one complaint... frequently getting in the players way."

Form the reviews i have seen it's the only 'minor' (they specify that) complain they could have found in the midst of the game's perfection.

They also mention how the friendly AI 'occasionally' gets in the way, as well.

"Ok, name one. If you have that many original ideas, write up proposals, I'm sure you'll wind up employed making them.

Or you could keep on whining that someone else isn't out there making the increadibly imaginitve games you just KNOW have to be possible somewhere."

Er..., Half Life 2 ?!?

"Now, you can say they made some great games, but you can't say any of them were actually original games. Just because something is good doesn't mean it's original."

i thought Torment was one of the most original games i ever played, but then again, i don't judge games by engines or settings, particularly RPGs, but that's just me i guess...

"Black Isle did not produce Baldur's Gate. They only published it."

Actually, they did some minor work in the game, mainly sound and a few other things, but yes, what i meant is that Baldur's Gate is the only game they produced togheter with Black Isle as the publisher.

"I'm a bit confused and I've been wanting to ask this question for a while. This seems like as good a place as any. What roles did BioWare and Black Isle fill on Baldur's Gate and other perennial role playing games?"

Black Isle games include :

Fallout 1 & 2

Planescape : Torment

Icewinddale 1 & 2

Bioware's RPGs are :

Baldur's Gate 1 & 2

NWN

KOTOR

Black Isle used to be Bioware's publisher, and they were very close during the first years (and still are, Obsidian are working on KOTOR2 and NWN2 thanks to Bioware), though the only RPG they produced togheter was the original Baldur's Gate...

Online RPGS are about killing stuff, gather XP and collect uber loot.

Anybody arguing not taking this game to multiplayer doesn't stay true to it's roleplaying origin doesn't have a single clue about how this games work.

All the greatest RPGs ever made are all single player, with almost no exception...
